Lately I've been dabbling in buying/selling in the Marketplace.
I started it with an April 2007 letter I won in a contest, & 2000gp. Total value would roughly be 18K to start with. Over the last...oh...4 days or so I've increased the quality of the items I'm selling to stuff like Yetis, Gauntlets, Scar of Hero etc so I'm up to about 28k.
I kind of made it a game, to see just how far I can go doing this. You can play Wordbump or Cards only so much when feeding your 2 month rug rat.
Anyone else dabble in there? I'm interested in finding out how others charge for their items. I usually buy an item and only increase it a small amount so it sells faster, about 500-2000 gp depending on the item and the lower half of the average going price.

I used to hang around the Exchange but that was back in 2004. I don't really have a talent for it. What I do have a talent for is making friends who don't mind selling me stuff for a little cheaper than the going rate.

Ok, anyhow, as I was saying, I used to hang out in the Exchange. So I met a lot of people and my good friend DLASTBIRD who ran the E.V.I.L. price guide with another guy. I used to do the pricing on all the uncommons and rares for that price guide and for the Lucky Devil price guide that followed. Man I miss those days, they were fun.
Anyhow, currently I use tektek to monitor prices as well as just cruising around the Exchange and seeing what is what. I think that answers your question.
Also, my friend Sir Jang of Bang does some high end Exchanging for me since I really don't have the time to do it any more. Also Dream did some letter liquidation for me for which I am very grateful.

Jer, I think umar just called you a rat!
Anyway, I don't dabble in the marketplace. In any game I've ever played and even in real life I just don't have a talent for the market or for judging how much this or that is worth.
I actually don't spend much, so I've now accumulated over 35k in gaia monies neutral

35k? Damn. I have trouble keeping gold. I usually hit about 10k and go on random buying sprints where I just buy weird stuff to try out.
So far I seem to be doing well for myself. Though I've only done it for about 4-6 days.
If I can sell some of the items I'm currently attempting to sell I have about 30+k right there, plus the 2k sitting pretty already. yayz.

*mumbles* I guess no one will be impressed if I say I've got 111k?
I hang in the Exchange a lot, mostly just to offload game items. It's crazy what people will buy, just for a "get me to a million pink daffodils" quest. Makes hanging in towns a bit more profitable than it would otherwise be.

eek That's a lot of money, GoldenRoya. I have nowhere near that! This is the most gold I've probably ever had is now at 32k when I sold an item before buying a Scar of Hero to sell off.
It's kinda fun, seeing just how far you can go with nothing more at the start then a letter and a couple grand.

Note to self: When putting things up for Buy Only, be sure to choose Buy Only and not Bid Only by accident.
Someone got a nice deal on a Scar of Hero today because of that hahahaha

It's not a big deal really. I bought it for about 24000 so I only lost 6k which I should hopefully be able to make up for fairly quick if I'm lucky.
Not that the money really matters. I'm not questing currently so I'm using the Marketplace as a kind of game to amuse myself with. I want to see just how far this April 2007 letter and 2k will go in making more gold.

well everyone can see how much gold i have, cause it's in my signature.. i might have gotten a bit more gold since i updated that about 10 minutes ago lol.. i now have 153,345, i horde my gold anyway, but right now i'm trying to save up for my penguin slippers.. at this rate though it keeps going up faster, it was lower then that when i first started this.. so i feel as if i'll never get those blasted things..
i use to do the marketplace, but i'm not good with pricing things either.. so i probably sell things for less then what i really should..
