So my fellow Harry Potter fans...What'd you think of it? smile
Good? Bad? Horrible acting? Did they live up to your expectations?

Well, at first I was dissapointed. I mean, OotP is my favorite book of the series, in my mind I cringed at each thing they had left out or should have portreyed differently. But, after the fact, I realized how much I liked it and how well it was done. The Department of Mysteries scene was indeed my favorite, in both the book and the movie, and I really liked the way they set it up for the next movie. =]

I have been bouncing in my seat ever since I got a picture of Tonks of the internet months and months ago, and it was TOTALLY WORTH IT! I was probably the most dramatic fan in there today.
It was particularly amazing, because I didn't think I would be able to make it today, so I was really excited when my mom played hookey from work and brought me to see it. On the way there I was thinking of how amazing it would be if my friend Jenny were to be in the theater by coincidence on the same day, and guess who was in line for snacks? JENNY! We started squealing and hugging in the middle of the lobby.
In the theater, I was gasping and squealing and crying when *insert character* died. I was definitely the oudest, Jenny had to hold her hand over my mouth several times.

I'm with nazomi_himura. At first, I was disappointed. OOTP is my fave book of the series. And there were several scenes where I think that it should have been done differently. Not to mention poor Remmy was completely ignored! scream But afterwards, I figured, yeah, it was brilliant.
I was having a fight between which character I liked portrayed more, Snape or Bellatrix. eek Helen Bonham Carter was brilliant.
AND UMBRIDGE IS EVIL!!!! BLOODY WELL EVIL!!!
But Harry was eviler.
SPOILERS AHOY!!! Highlight to see. OMG!!! I loved it when Umbridge was dragged away by the centaurs, and she's screaming "Harry! Tell them I mean no harm!"
Harry: I'm sorry Professor. I must not tell lies.
Me in the theatre: YES! GO HARRY! Boyfriend: stare Kaaaaatttt.... Kat: .... sorry.

Haha, haven't we all had those moments? ^.^ I thought the ministry was really well done, although it wasn't at all how I imagined it...and the casting was really well done with Bellatrix, Luna, and Tonks..

I thought though, if I hadn't read the book, I'd have been completely lost story-wise. It was much too choppy.

Shotaro-kun I thought though, if I hadn't read the book, I'd have been completely lost story-wise. It was much too choppy. True, very true. I didn't actually realize this flaw until I saw the movie a second time with my family. At the midnight showing I was so excited and involved with my own personal Potter knowledge that it escaped my notice, but after I saw it again I realized that I only got as much out of it as I did because I was a fan who had read all of the books. My family had so many questions e_e It really made me realize how many gaps there were. For instance, our very stupid local paper published a front page review of the movie. The reporter had only ever seen the movies, so from his interpretation of the film he thought Fudge and Umbridge were undercover spies in the Ministry for the Dark Lord. He seriously spent like a page and a half talking about the conspiracy theory against Harry. And he also said that Cho and Harry were bound to get back together in the next movie. o-o

Undercover spies for the Ministry? lol People who write that stuff just make me laugh...why do they even bother writing about something not thoroughly researched? Although to be fair, I guess the movie /did/ leave the whole Harry/Cho romance pretty open.

-[ Yeah, that was a bit dissapointing, the whole HarryxCho fiasco. HarryxGinny all the way!
Enough about pairings, before a war starts....
I thought that the movie was the best yet, to be quite honest. The Ministry scene I could rave about and as Muggle Cast put it, when Ginny was bringin' down the house. What really dissapointed me was when (spoiler) Harry was posessed by Vol- I'm sorry. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. "I've got everything you don't! Friends! And luuuuve!!!"
I just about died laughing.
Umbridge had the perfect "Hem hem!" and it made me want to slap her, but that meant that she was the perfect one for the role! >w< Of course there were a few more corny dialogue parts, but for the most part I thought that it was quite true to the book ( putting aside when Neville found the Room of Requirement instead of Dobby, and Cho ratting them out ) especially for what.... 876 pages? You have to cut them some slack for that, y'know. ]-

MOMO Kukai I was having a fight between which character I liked portrayed more, Snape or Bellatrix. eek Helen Bonham Carter was brilliant. AND UMBRIDGE IS EVIL!!!! BLOODY WELL EVIL!!! i agree i was soooooooooooo dissapointed. the film could have been longer so they could have put a bit more in, or explained a few things better.
maybe its some twisted way of making people read, coz there is no way you would have understood all that if you hadnt read the book.
the casting of umbridge was brill, within 2 min's i wanted to smash her face in, she is so evil! twisted
but there wasnt enough bella, i mean, it was a huge hype, you'll see tonks (for 1 min) and snape (for 5mins) and bellatrix (for 5 mins) it was rushed. and the deatheaters fight - could have been longer, with more substance.
but i've never been a fan of the films, they always seem to be a let down to me.
but for all of you who love the films, i hope this one was as good as you hoped!

in my opinion, the 5th movie was the best movie for being a good movie. And probably best as far as going along, except for the department of mysteries sequence...and stupefy. they totally ruined stupefy, which will haunt them in later films...
but i do think it was written more for book readers. Example: not explaining who Ms. Figg was, or how she knew about Harry and shtuff...
however
Luna was amazing as was Neville ^_^

Plus, they make it seem like a weird love rectangle.. They put it like;
Harry likes Cho. Ginny likes Harry. Luna and Harry have a weird scene together, that some stupid people might interpret as HarryxLuna.. And its just weird.. Very weird..
