-[ I'd say that most of the post below here is a spoiler. I read the book in six hours and fifty minutes. ^_^
I was amazed at how accurate a lot of Muggle Cast's theories were! The locket that no one could open at 12 Grimmauld Place, R.A.B (that one was coming though), and I was glad that Snape was good! I cried when just about everyone died. Hedwig, Mad-Eye, Fred, Remus, Tonks, Harry, Colin Creevey, it was depressing. But at last Hermione and Ron kissed! THAT was amazing. Oh my, I could rant about it aaall day... ]-

The book was an extraordinarily satisfying end to the series. Everything made sense, and wrapped itself up quite tidily. And now...spoilers ahoy!
It makes sense that some of the theories circulating on the internet (since there were such a huge number of them) came true, but they were absolutely dead on. I had completely dismissed the notion that Snape fancied Lily, but there you go. And I'm glad Snape was good, and that Harry lived, and the epilogue (though disgustingly corny) was happy, if anything. Lots of people died, but it did seem necessary. And loose ends that I'd practically forgotten resurfaced and became important. Above all, I'm glad that nothing at all seemed forced--everything was revealed as naturally and smoothly as I would have hoped.
Happy discussing!

arrow I squealed like a little girl when I saw that Remus and Tonks had married, I've been rooting for them...then when Remus nearly turned his back on her! *glowers...* well, he went back, right? that was wonderfully heart-warming how harry helped remus come to his senses...and when remus burst in and said he had a boy! eeeeeee!! I'd been waiting for that moment for so long! My insides were doing a little jig! but then......then they DIED!! *sobs uncontrollably yet again* poor teddy to never know his cool mommy and sexy daddy! *wails*I started reading at 12:53 the moment I got the book, and read until 6:30 in the morning, slept til 2:30 in the afternoon, and read continuously until 11:12. It was great.

-[ The only thing that I missed, was what the crap happened to the Dursleys? My mum's reading the book, otherwise I'd go and re-read it, but there ya' go. Did I miss that, or did it just never come up again?
That was the only loose end that I could think of, that I couldn't remember what happened. >w< ]-

I was disappointed only by three things.
1. I predicted alot of the stuff before it happened, which didn't make it as exciting. 2. Some of the deaths seem unjustified and seemed to be put in only because JK wanted more bloodshed. 3. The epilogue had already been written 50 billion times by 14 year old fanfic authors.
Besides that, my life is complete. Page 625 and Mrs. Weasley ftw! Though I'm not saying why or I'd have to make spoilers heehee.

Its quite the rant, if I do say so myself.
YESSSSSS!!!!! FINALLY some Ron/Hermione action! :3 I was so pleased. I sobbed and sobbed when Tonks and Lupin died. Not to mention poor Fred!
Now, a lot of my friends are complaining that JKR just put too much bloodshed into this book, but I find it exceedingly fitting. After all of this buildup over all these pages, all these years and lives hanging in the balance the only fitting thing was to have this book packed with the fights that we had heard they were preparing for for so long! Also, wouldn't it just be too convenient for only DeathEaters to suffer bad losses? I mean, blood had to be shed on both sides to show just how extensively the battle had affected everyone.
Off of that rant and onto another one, Severus and Lily. I had felt that in my gut and I loved when I saw it on paper. I cried. Knowing that Dumbledore was right all along sort of made up for all of those terrible manipulative things he did. I mean, "for the greater good" right? *chuckle* All of these things coming to light really made my day.
Personally, I truly loved Neville in this one! He grew quite the spine, and his grandmother finally stopped being a b***h! xD
Speaking of bitches, wasn't Mrs. Weasley's comment just wonderful? I laughed loud enough to wake the neighbors. xD
Two great surprises for me were Wormtail's end and Dudley's gratitude. As for the first, it left me stunned and for the second it made me slack-jawed with surprise. Gah! I loved it!

No, They never say anything about the Dursley's... That makes me sad. Dudley should have a little wizard boy!

It took me about 7 hours from the moment i started, excluding the hour I took for watching The Closer and 30 minutes I took for crying. I got mine in the mail Monday sometime when I was out watching the 5th Harry Potter movie in the theater. I got home at about 6, and I stalled until 7:30. I wasn't sure if I was ready for it to be over yet. LoL. But I finished it, and I'm sad but content.
arrow I loved it! The book was great. And I know everyones talking about how the rumors and theories circulating around the inter-web were pretty close, but I have to admit that I refused to look at them. I didn't catch one single theory or rumor at all, so most of what happened surprised me. But even though I adored the book, i can't help but feel like J.K. Rowling kind of played into what we expected. I mean, Its great that Dudley "made up" with Harry, and that Draco turned "semi good", but I think she was forcing the happy ending bit and playing into what she thought we would like. But that's probably just me.
One thing that astonished me was the death toll. I mean, nearly EVERYONE died. It broke my heart. I must admit, by the time I got to the chapter were it was revealed to Harry that He had to die in order for Voldemort to be killed I had to take a break and just sob. But I understand the death toll. It was a war, and not every death is necessary in a war, that's what makes it so cruel and tragic.
McGonagall kicked some serious a** I must say. She was awesome with the whole Hogwarts unite act.
I'm impressed with the whole Snape thing. I mean, I suspected it, but it still came out of the blue. There was kind of a whole life lesson in the book. You know the normal stuff, Love is the root of everything blah blah blah...
And I do like how Dumbledore was taken out of that Godly stance he was put in and brought down to a more human level. I never really wondered about his past, I was content with his present. But it explains a lot.
This may come off wrong, but I think I would have liked it better if Harry had really died and went on to the other side. It would have made it more tragic to me... I don't know I think i just like angst. But Fred dying was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I wish that both of the twins had remained. I also think that Percy's returned could have been better timed. i mean right before the full on battle, come on.
But all in all, it was a fantastic read and I'm so heartbroken that the end has come and gone. The only thing I have to look forward to now is going to the next two movies and pointing out all they left out. xd

I finished it a while ago. And thn forgot to post here. Oops.
*-* GAH. I was SO angry Harry didn't die I really wasn't happy with this ending Way too happy I was excited at the 19 years later thing Thinking there'd be some little catch And Harry would get hit by the train or something cool like that BUT NO Nothing happened Only un-important people died Harry should have been killed by Voldemort And then Nevil should have finished him off. Definately. *-*

Hmm the 7th book...
I thought the ending of the book was very satisfying! I loved how everything tied in together BUUUT I do have a question that I didn't understand and hopefully someone can clear it up for me...
With the whole Elder Wand dealy...what did Harry mean when he was aruging with Voldy at the end when he said the true bearer of the wand was Draco? I didn't get that at all...I was lost.
But I was thinking, I kinda wished Harry would've died. I mean truley that would've been so sad buut..it would've been kinda cool to have the hero be sacrificed for the greater good. I mean....Voldy was a pretty powerful guy, kinda sucked to see him go so........easilyish. hehe. But as we know good always triumphs over evil.
I also was VERY happy to see Snape as a good guy after all. I love how everything tied together nicely and his past was sooooooooooo sad. I like how he loved Lily but I felt so bad for the guy and worst of all I didn't want him to die! X_x I wanted to see lil Snape babies running around...hahaha..
But overall yeah it was a good end to the series. I'll miss it dearly. *Sniff*

InYourVillian: I think the answer to your question is although Snape killed Dumbledore, Snape did not fight him. Draco, however, used the expelliarmus to disarm him. arrow In order to gain control of the Elder wand, you have to have forcibly removed it from the true bearer's hand. Just like Harry took Draco's wand after fighting him and winning. Do you get it now? 3nodding

I agree, I did predict a lot of stuff that ended up happening and I had read the equivalent to the epilogue plenty of times. Also, the murder of Fred Weasley, Nymphodora Tonks, and John Lupin did bug me a lot. It seemed like all JK Rowling wanted was more bloodshed and the broken hearts of her fans. Other than that, it was a great book.
