There was no time to lose. Mahna grabbed her arm and flung her onto his back before he leapt high into the air, capsizing the boat and spread his wings wide. He estimated where the ship was now, and only hoped that he could calculate corrctly. Timing was of importance, and he flung himself forward, flying at a slightly crooked angle to the left because of his wing. They were coming closer and closer to the water, and he only hoped that they would find it. Then they flew through the invisible barrier and landed hard on top of a boat, slightly splintering the area of impact. He stood, slightly dazed as he saw Leo and the others, before turning to see if Salyf was alright.

Bronwyn was losing it. The spell flickered on and off as she fought for control of the spell, just barely holding everything together. She was SO tired and her muscles hurt from the strain of the wild magics she wielded.

Then everything fell apart.

With a sudden crash, Mahna catapulted through the barriers of her spell, carrying another person with him, and landed hard on the boat, rocking it wildly. Bronwyn was too weak to repair the damage, and the shattered spell energies crackled on the air, threatening to collapse inward and explode the small boat. With a small strangled noise, she screamed a Word of Power and threw up another barrier around the boat, pushing the broken magic away. Orange bolts of energy ricocheted off the pulsing barrier and bounded towards the shadow stuff spreading across the water and the ships.

The energies burned through some of the shadow stuff and exploded one smaller boat in a shower of flames. They dissapated in a matter of moments. Bronwyn fell forward into unconsiousness, her hands blistered and her clothes slightly singed from the raw magic she'd thrown about.

Salyf thought she was going to die when Mahna came so close to the water, the look of fear etched onto her face. She didn't feel any better when they crashed into the shielded boat. She first saw the illusion slip away from the ship then the display of raw magic that one of the girls threw out. "Is she all right?" Salyf asked, concerned about the unconscious girl. She did not notice that her hood had fallen from her head, exposing her dark brown cat ears.

Mahna was losing nerve, not only had he managed to injure their most powerful magic user, but the Dark Figure was only about a half mile out from their position. It was now clearly visible, and the sight of it filled Mahna with anger as well as dread.

The object was nothing more than a Teroa. It had black colored skin, and a thick black platemail armor covered the rest of his body. His whole face was covered with an armored plating, and the only thing visible on its face was 2 dark red eyes glowing omniously. He flew powerfully and violently, shaking the air around him as he throttled himself through the sky towards them. A long blue spear protruded from it's right hand, engulfed in a bluish blaze, and a black circular shield hung from it's left.

Mahna scanned the surroundings, desperately trying to find a solution. The pirates had now seen them and opened fire with their cannons. Large splashes from cannon balls blew up all around them, and the Teroa only continued to come closer and closer to them. "We are out of time." Mahna muttered solemnly as he drew his halberg, which now burned with a sour green flame.

The explosion of magic knocked Inese to her knees, and knocked the whole boat forward with a sudden burst of speed. Quickly she pulled herself up and ran to Bronwyn, shouting her name on the way but she didn't even have time to get half way before the ship crashed into the edge of the shadowed water that they had been cruising next to, throwing her across the ship mid step.

By the sound of the crash it was doubtful the ship would ever sail again, the ship groaned loudly as it's cargo hold filled with water but even over it a sound could be heard from the ship the shadow was growing from, it rang out like a tiny bell and the fact that it could be heard seemed to defy logic. Along with it a wave shot out from the ship, a small wave but it suck out because as it went it left a perfectly flat surface, erasing the waves it rolled over. It started out slowly but speed up faster and faster, with its speed the bell grew into a roar.

Inese had ended up on the ground next to Bronwyn, the growing roar forced her to ignore the pain in her shoulder, felt like she had dislocated it; Crawling over to the unconscious woman with grunts "Bronwyn!" Inese was obviously very worried, she had never seen Bronwyn lose control of her magic before, and it couldn't have been on a worse spell. With her good arm she reached into the pack on her belt and pulled out a small carved rock, lightly painted to bring out the pattern more, Bronwyn had given it to her when they started off, in case something like this happened. Pulling Bronwyn's shirt back she pushed the amulet to her neck, instantly feeling a rush of heat, her hand shot back by instinct and it fell to the floor, revealing that it had burned it's pattern into both of them, though it soon dissipated, leaving the skin as it had been. Inese turned back from her hand "Bronwyn!" she said anxiously again.

((Mmm, lots of text, incase I lost myself anywhere, Mahna dragged Salyf onto the ship, breaking Bronwyn's control of the cloaking shield, in response she put up a quick shield against its violent collapse, overloading herself, the collapse shot the ship into the shadowed water which is apparently solid(ish), Inese got thrown across the deck, possibly dislocating her shoulder, but it's easy to exaggerate pain so that's not definite yet, then, Inese used some sort of amulet thing on Bronwyn))

Bronwyn welcomed the comforting darkness. She gave a contented sigh as she felt herself floating upwards, to rest at last. She'd done the best she could. Surely Mahna and Leo could take care of the others. It wasn't her problem any more.

Suddenly she felt a weight pushing her back
. Not yet, little Firefly. Her father's kind voice echoed in her head. You're not done yet. What were you doing using a Word like that, girl? Did you forget everything you were taught? He said in a disapproving voice. You go back and put it right. Bronwyn gave another sigh. No, I'm too tired, da. She thought. They'll be fine without me. She started to float up again when she heard her name shouted.

"Bronwyn! BRONWYN!!"

She hesitated, torn between wanting to stay and needing to help Inese. Her father's voice echoed through her thoughts again, more gentle this time.
You're needed, girl. Be careful down there. She felt a familiar reasurring presence beside her. She started to reply when she heard Inese say her name again.

"Bronwyn!"

Suddenly she was catapulted backwards, thrown almost violently back into her body. Sight, sound, and feeling rushed back to her in an instant and her eyes flew open. Her whole body ached and her throat was raw from the Word she'd used. But she was definitely alive. She coughed as the last magics in the Amulet healed her enough to go on before collapsing into dust. She looked up at Inese's worried face and smiled slightly.

"Definitely not the smartest thing I've done today." She croaked, sitting up gingerly to see the situation they were in.

((Yay, I can post again!!!! xd ))

The crash sent Mahna onto the black water, which suprisingly, was something like a shallow. He stood suprised, gazing at the black water that covered his ankles. Then a thought crossed his mind, and he looked east abruptly. The figure dived towrads him, spear in hand aimed directly for his heart. Mahna parried to one side, before punching it with his right hand, sending it stunned in the direction of the ship. A hand now covering his wound, Mahna was now left defenseless.

"So... This is Rinon. Finally..."

Raven said as he walked into the city gate. He had traveled through the mountains trying to reach the city. It had been a year since his father's death, and three months since his journey began. He walks through the gate into the bustling city. He is amazed to see the amount of people that walk the streets. He then sees the great blue ocean in front of him.

"Wow. This is it. My journey starts here.

As he walked away from the entrance gate, he was stopped by three men.

"Welcome to Rinon. 500 gold please. Entry fee to the city, ya know?"

"Entry fee to the city? Huh. Yah, sure. Buzz off."

"Not a smart move kid. This is required."

The three men unsheathed their swords and pointed them to Raven.

"Now, I'm not gonna tell ya again kid. Pay up or die!"

Raven only smiled. He then unsheathed both of his swords from his back.

"Well... I haven't had a good battle in a while. I guess I should be thankful to you three."

"Bring it on then!"

And before he could enjoy the city, he already was enthralled into battle.

The three men encircled Raven. Raven kept spinning in a circle to keep an eye on all of them. The first one lunged at Raven with a yell. The clanging of their swords could be heard through the street, followed by a groan. The first thug was on the floor with a slash mark across his chest.

Raven looked up at the other two. "Next"

"Kill him!" The head thug said. They both rushed at Raven, swords bared ready to attack.

Bronwyn sat up and registered what was going on in a matter of seconds. The figure that had attackd Mahna slammed against the ship, landing hard on the solid-ish water several feet away. Bronwyn could just see it was another Teroa. As she watched, the Teroa stood up, picking up the spear and turned towars Mahna.

"Mahna!" Bronwyn shouted. "Duck!"

((Sorry...I don't really have much to say here...just wanted to try to keep it going...))
PostPosted: Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:12 am

Mahna's eyes scanned the ship with a confused expression for a split second before the warning registered in his mind. He quickly fell to the ground, just as a bright blue stream of flames shot out over him. The enemy Teroa stood cautiously, evaluating his next move. Mahna had no time to heal. He took the Halberg in his right hand, and balanced it with his left as pain shot through his body, causing for his arm to slightly shake. "Bronwyn! Get the others out of here!" He roared as the Teroa lunged forward, spear aimed for his left thigh. He parried it, and spun, throwing his right elbow into the Teroa's Jaw. "NOW!!"

Bronwyn paused a second, torn between her duty to the others and her guilt at leaving Mahna behind. With a sigh, she turned away from the Teroa battle and looked at the group.

"Time to get out of here." She said, moving over to the edge of the boat that was caught on the shadowy stuff. With a mighty heave, she pushed it off the edge and back into the water. "Someone grab the other oar." She ordered, sitting down at one space and immediately starting to row.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 01, 2007 12:27 am

Salyf grabbed the oar, not thinking about the water, threatening to tip into the boat. "Shouldn't we be help him?" she asked the girl - Bronwyn, if she recalled correctly - as she began rowing once again. Sthas had started to squirm in her pouch. This wasn't a good sign at all. She bit her lower lip. She couldn't work her cards at the moment, and her other magic was being unreasonable. Despite the feeling in her deep gut that told her they should help Mahna, she kept on rowing.
