((im in and out, my grandma and aunt are here, so i may be a little slow))
"I'm not sure..." She looked up as she saw the card-laden teacher entered, placing her book in her bag as she sat up and watched Sarah and the others follow.

Professor Trelawny, driven primarily by her nearly-empty bottle of sherry, gave them a long, slurred speech on the essentials of Divination. The speech was interrupted occasionally with bouts of hiccups. Leigh went back to doodling Matt's name, and Sarah began to daydream.

Desiree's eye twitched a bit involuntarily before picking up her book again and blocking out the drunkard. "This is ridiculous."

Professor Trelawny turned around slowly. "Ridiculous? My dear, I fear that I sense very little Aura about you. Books can only get you so far," she said nastily, glancing at the book that Desiree was reading.

"Very little aura?" She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms over her chest. Fine, if she wants a parlour trick competition she's got one. "I would suggest placing a pillow next to your left foot before the crystal ball breaks when you drop it."

Professor Trelawny gave a cool glance to her unharmed foot. "I'll keep that in mind," she said sweetly, before handing her a detention slip. "And I suggest that you not act up in my class."

Desiree took the slip silently, opening her book and using it as a bookmark as she continued reading. She may have brilliant and an excellent Seer, but she wasn't too bright when it came to student-teacher realtions.

Desiree had already learned practically the entire year's curriculum on her own, without really knowing she was doing it. Actually...she probably had enough knowledge to graduate soon, but she did love the school. Either way, it gaev her enough time to catch up on her reading.

Kris listened silently, but caught herself glancing longingly out the window to the cool air, instead of the stifingly warm, perfumed air in the tower.

Professor Trelawny wound down the lecture just as the class ended, and gazed at them all mysteriously through her oversized spectacles that was crusted with jewels. "Do be careful, my dears. I sense danger lurking near the East Wing of the fourth floor," she said, bidding them goodbye. As the last student slipped down the trapdoor, she knocked her elbow against her crystal ball, and there was an explosion of glass dangerously near her left foot.

Desiree closed her book and descended the staircase last, hearing the crystal shatter as her head disappeared out of the front door. She stopped and took a few steps back up, not being smug or anything, but mentally grinning at her victory. "Need help with that?" She motioned to the pieces of glass scattered on the floor and shifted her bag on her shoulder in case she had to turn around and go back up.

Professor Trelawny gave her a bitter smile, then looked at the glass and said, "Reparo!" Of course, it came together and she placed her crystal ball on the table. Haughtily, she marched into the depths of her quarters through a narrow, unnoticable hallway in the back of her classroom.

Desiree shrugged and watched as the woman left the room. Of course, she couldn't help but trace her steps back into the Divination room in the professor's absence, placing her bag down as she approached the crystal ball, the room seeming dimmer than usual. Almost hypnotized by it, she tilted her head, reaching her fingertips out to touch it.
As her fingers came in contact with the smooth glass, she felt a strange burning sensation, as though she had a currrent running through her hand. Still transfixed, she paid the pain no mind, though she had never before experienced it. She placed her entire hand on the ball, watching through the pain as a green mist swirled through it. A low, rumbling laugh and a green spark, and Desiree was knocked back into the cushions behind her, smacking her head on the cabinet that usually held the teacups.

OOC: Okay...d'you think you could start posting as Jessica now that you're all settled in and cozy in our RP? Matt and Jessica have the next class together.
Matt caught Jackson's eye as he headed to History of Magic, grinning. After tactfully pausing to tie his shoes and readjusting his book bag twice, he managed to get into class a minute before it started--not late, not early. The seat next to him was empty. As expected, the Slytherins began to file in as a last minute addition to the class.
