She laughed harshly, "Yes, I guess that explains it then." Yes, if he's always been quite this egotistical that would help explain a lot. And of course the death grip that creates skinwalkers would just enhance those traits from the normal soquili. Maybe she hadn't scouted him out as well as she'd thought. She really was convinced he could be useful, especially in planning and scheming, but so far he only seemed to be good for snapping and growling...just like a dog. She made a mental note to never try feeding him...
As if that wasn't bad enough, he wasn't even entertaining. And now she was stuck with him out in the rain (which she still loathed) and no prey nearby. "I need to think this out a little better next time," she muttered to herself bitterly.

"Yes, you do," he informed her, wryly. "And there is no time like the present. The feather brains will likely not stay wherever they go to ground once the male is healed. We will have to track quickly and subdue them just as quickly."

She shrugged frowning, "I somehow doubt he'll be healed anytime soon. That was a fair chunk you took out of him. Besides, they rain will slow them down, make them go to ground and leave some very nice tracks to find. Maybe even a trail that your nose can sniff out."

"Honestly, if we're going to dwell on all the negative 'what if' scenarios we'll be at this all night..." She stretched and cracked her neck, "Besides, do you have a better idea for getting them?"

"Must be your charming influence rubbing off on me," she muttered buffering her hooves against a rock, glaring at the additional mud that smeared her. She really hated rain. And the accursed weather showed no signs of letting up.
