Benjamin couldn't help teasing her a little as they continued to chat. He was still feeling a little stiff, but he could feel the tension easing a bit. He smiled as she laughed at his joke. He found that he really liked the sound of it and her smile was beyond beautiful. Smiling back at him, he listened as she spoke a bit of her childhood. The experience was one similar to his own. Laughing along with her, he nodded. "I know the feeling...every time my brothers and I would play, Oliver often left mid-game because he hated that Sam would buy up all the "good properties" before him and claimed he was cheating." he said, smiling as he recalled the memories. The light changed and Benjamin continued to drive them down the street. "Alright, I got a scenario for you. Let's we're already married, it's raining out, neither of us have anything to do. How would you want to spend the day in?" he asked curiously.

⋮ ۩ ) • • • Evie was relaxing as well with Ben. She was enjoying talking to him. They were opening up to each other in their own way. Evie laughed softly soon listening as Ben explained his own time with his siblings, who had fought over such a game. She wasn’t as competitive probably when it came to board games. Evie could only imagine the chaos, it must have been amusing. She watched as the light changed and Ben continued driving. Evie soon heard Ben question her, posing a scenario. She found the idea interesting, after all it wasn’t like her to stay inside when it was raining. Evie actually loved the rain. ”Well first off, I would drag you outside to play in the rain afterwards once we’re nice and drenched, we’d go back inside perhaps take a nice hot shower afterwards, I’d make us hot chocolate then we could watch movies and maybe make some smores, eat junk food and cuddle all day.” She replied excited by the idea. Evie was used to such things by herself, but perhaps with someone else it could be fun. "What about you, what are your thoughts?" She asked wondering in the reverse what Ben would plan.

Indeed, the three Davis boys had been quite a handful growing up. As the eldest it was his right to poke fun at his kid brothers while also maintaining that the two younger ones stayed out of each others face. They could fight like boys and whine about what's fair. But at the end of it all Ben was the one who would get the lecture about setting examples and looking out for his brothers. It could be quite annoying most days, but then others he knew that those two were some of his best friends. As Benjamin continued to drive them he posed a question in the form of a scenario. It was simple enough and he was curious to know what sort of things Evie might like to do on a supposed lazy day.
He listened as she described a day of fun and spending time together. Benjamin wasn't a huge fan of the rain. But with Evie's kind of thinking he might just become one. As she questioned him, he smiled. "I think might want to marry you even without our parents help." he soon replied. "But honestly, I really like your idea. The only thing I can think to add is maybe sometime in the afternoon we could light a fire, grab a nice throw blanket and read by the window. And if the mood strikes, we could take a nap on the couch then later I would wake you up with a soft kiss. When it gets dark and we've binged the entire first two season of whatever show we pick and the need for something more than s'mores beckons us to the kitchen, I'll cook us up a nice warm helping of spaghetti and meatballs with some fresh from the oven bread sticks." he said, adding to her fantasy. Though if he was being honest, the whole thing didn't sound half bad. Perhaps once they got to know each other a little more he could come over to visit her. He doubted her parents would allow him to stay over, anything else might just have to wait until after they were married.

The idea of having Evie drag him anywhere was amusing. While she may be fit, he still would like to see her try as he stood a good five or six inches taller and weighed at least fifty pounds more than her. All of it being muscle as well. As Ben spoke, he caught the look of surprise on her face. He didn't mind, after all he too was a little surprised at himself. He knew that he liked her but not how much. The more time they spent together he found himself enjoying being with her. She was smart, elegant, and sophisticated but not so much that she didn't know how to cut loose. No, she wasn't stiff and proper like their parents, and their grandparents before them. How rare it seemed to find someone as beautiful as her and with such a background to know the meaning of fun.
Benjamin continued to drive while fleshing out a few of his own ideas. They weren't nearly as elaborate, but if a cozy late afternoon was something she was into, he could mostly certainly provide it along with a romantic dinner for two. Though as lovely as their ideas were, they would have to wait before they could be carried out. Benjamin knew his mother would never allow him to spend the night with his bride-to-be and he doubted the answer would be much different from his future mother-in-law. While there was no denying that he was a virgin by any standard of the word, girls had never been allowed alone in his room. It didn't matter if the door was open or not, his parents often reminded him how easy it was to become a teenage father and just how many hail mary's he'd be forced to recite. Benjamin smiled as he heard her speak beside him. "Then it's a date." he said, taking a quick glance towards her.

Benjamin had no desire whatsoever to try and control Evie. If he wanted some prim and proper lady, they were a dime a dozen down at the country club. Each more desperate than the last. No, from what he could see Evie was a lot more free spirited and seemed more open to a little adventure. She was fun to be around and made him want to know more about his future bride. While they likely would not be able to meet as often as they would like, there were other ways they could communicate.
Glancing towards her, he smiled as he spoke. He watched her smile in return before turning his gaze back to the road. Beside him he heard her teasing tone. The idea of making some sort of plan for an overnight stay amused him. It made him feel like a kid again and how he used to sneak around with his old girlfriends. The only difference was he'd have to be a lot more clever than telling his parents he was studying at a friends' house or sneaking someone into the pool house. But for the moment, the planning could wait as they weren't even sure when this supposed date could happen.

The idea of marrying someone only to control them never sat well with him. He had seen it with some of the older couples that ran in the same circles as his parents. Some were more discreet with just a minor clearing of their throat, while others were quite loud and proud about where they thought women belonged and how they often to behave in public. Benjamin did not agree with the sentiments and found them to be a trifle outdated. Then again, when it came to their social circles, there were a few things he knew to be outdated but kept his own thinking to himself. Given Evie's personality it made him want to question where she stood on those matters as well.
Although it had only been a couple of days that they now knew one another, Benjamin didn't mind making plans for their future. After all it was inevitable that they would be spending it together. He just thought it was more fun to meet up like this without the knowledge of their parents. "So how much further is this place of yours?" he asked curiously. While he wasn't starving, he was curious to know just how much further Evie was planning to go.

⋮ ۩ ) • • • Evie could understand the old couples in their families, they didn’t have a choice. However she was not going to be one of them. She was not going to be controlled by her future husband. If he wanted a docile wife, then they chose the wrong person. Even on their first official meeting, she could see Ben was not going to control her. She wanted to be loved, not owned.
It was fun to make plans, after all who was to say they would actually do them. However she liked the idea, it helped her to understand Ben more. She could see he had a serious side, but could also be playful as well. Evie was excited for the future that lay before them. She knew their marriage was still months away, but she didn’t care. Evie glanced toward Ben, as he questioned her. ”Not much farther, it’s just on the right another block.” She replied pointing up ahead as they drove.

In a way it was almost sad that the older couples would still chose being married to one another rather than calling it quits. After all, their parents, and the ones who would truly judge them were likely gone now. Why continue to stay with someone you clearly had no desire to be with? It made no sense. Then again perhaps that was just one of the perks of being one of the young ones. Benjamin didn't need a wife he could control, he wanted a partner. So far it seemed as though Evie could be exactly that.
Even if their plans fell through they were lucky enough to live in an age with more advanced technology. Even without being in the same room they could still communicate. There was still much he did not know about Evie and much more still he was willing to learn. As they continued down the road Benjamin couldn't help being curious to know where exactly Evie was taking him. He turned his head in the direction she was pointing, seeing a building in the distance with a fair amount of cars in the lot. Benjamin hoped it did not mean that they would have to wait long to be seated. He was starving and was looking forward to a nice meal.

As they pulled into the parking lot, Benjamin took note of the small crowd. He didn't mind if they had to wait. He figured it would just give him more time to spend with his betrothed. As Evie soon parked the car, he glanced her way as she then spoke. Nodding his head, Benjamin unlocked his seat belt and got out of the car as well. After getting out, he closed the door behind himself, and walked around towards the trunk to meet her. "Lead on." he said, smiling. Benjamin walked along side her in the parking lot towards the front door. As they walked closer towards the entrance, he looked over the exterior furnishings and sign. He'd never eaten here before, but could guess what sort of food they might have. The idea of diner food didn't bother him, in fact it seemed like a great idea. He could go for a nice cup of coffee and a plate of flapjacks.

Following through the parking lot it did not take them long before reaching the entrance. Benjamin smiled and thanked Evie as she held the door for him. He then walked in and took in the eatery. It was neither too large or too small and nicely decorated. Turning his attention back to Evie, he followed her up to the awaiting hostess. He nodded quietly as she informed them both of the wait time, not minding at all.
As they stood there waiting, Benjamin looked over the menu hanging nearby. He took back his previous thoughts of thinking this was just another run of the mill diner. Both the items listed and their prices took him otherwise. He didn't care that the place was a little more pricey than he first expected it to be. It wasn't as if he couldn't afford it. No, all he cared about was if the food was worth it. He continued to scan the menu a moment longer before their hostess returned. Benjamin followed both the hostess and Evie over to their table and took a seat across from her. He thanked the woman as he handed a menu and opened it as well.
They both sat quietly a moment, each looking over their own menus. Seeing as it was his first time here he wasn't too sure what to get. He knew that he was hungry and he knew that he wanted breakfast. Or at least something close to breakfast type food. That much was simple. While Benjamin wrestled between the idea of French toast or an omelette he heard Evie speak. He looked up curiously, confused for a moment as the words were still processing. "Oh ah....I don't really know. I kind of want to try one of their omelettes, but then the French toast sounds pretty good too. Same for the breakfast burrito." he said, honestly. "What would you recommend?"
