Kaleb shook his head, and smiled. "I don't think it's boring, it gives me things to think about. Besides, if I didn't read, I wouldn't get very far in my studies."

He continued to purr as he spoke. "Doesn't seem like you need to study." He nuzzled against Kaleb's shoulder. "Seem good at the stuff to me"

Kaleb blushed a bit at the compliment, and he fidgeted slightly. "I-I'm not really strong enough yet," he protested. "I can't get stronger if I don't work for it."

"I-I made a promise." Kaleb said, frowning and looking down at his hands. "If I can't help my friends and keep them safe, regardless of what the situation is... If I can't help no matter what happens, what's the point?" He leaned against Reno a bit harder, trying to take some comfort from the closeness.

He tightened his arms around Kaleb. "You're strong ... Rufus hired you." There was no way Rufus would hire someone who wasn't strong. "Help us out a lot"

Kaleb calmed down a bit as Reno held him tighter. "But I can't help everyone," he said quietly. "And that's why this test is so important to me, even though I'm afraid to take it, it's the only way I'll be able to learn more."

He licked Kaleb's cheek before setting his muzzle back on the other's shoulder. "Can't help everyone .... impossible." He paused for a minuet to take a deep breath. "Just gotta help yer friends"

Kaleb turned around a bit so he could cuddle up closer to Reno. "I couldn't even do that much." He admitted.

Carefully knocking the book out of Kaleb's lap he pulled the mage closer to him. "Ya help us ... fixed me up good." He went back to nuzzling the other as he spoke.

Kaleb let himself be pulled closer, and he even shifted a bit to make the movement easier. "Mnn." Reno was right, he was able to help, and if Rufus was telling the truth last night he would be able to help more, and prevent damage rather than just repairing it.

Kaleb let go of the magic energy he had been channeling, it would mean he wouldn't be warm anymore, but he was starting to tire and didn't want to overexert himself and not have the strength to ues the portal spell to get home. As he curled up closer to Reno, he felt kind of bad for being so clingy and needy.

"See ... this is better" He was perfectly happy with Kaleb being clingy and needy since that meant that he had a excuse to have his hands on the blond.

Kaleb blushed, but he managed to bite back the apology he had been about to give. If Reno liked this, the mage wasn't about to leave. He hadn't had any real stability in his life for awhile now, so he was loathe to give up what little bits of comfort were thrown at him.
