Jess carefully put the rose in place, making sure not to crush the delicate petals. "There aren't any thorns, right? I didn't see any, but it probably wouldn't feel to good to be getting poked the whole time."

"No, it wouldn't," agreed Peter quietly. "Lucky there aren't any thorns, then."
At this, Evelyn smiled wider than she would have thought possible, and she enveloped both of them in a hug. She kissed them both on the forehead and hurried upstairs for some reason unknown to Peter.

Jess blinked, slightly dizzied by the run by hugging. "What was that for?" She glanced up at Peter quizzically, somewhat confused.
Michael heard someone bounding up the stairs and looked up from where he was using his wand to magically iron his robes. "What's the rush, love?"

Peter shrugged, but he did grin at Jess. "She's taken a liking to you."
Evelyn pulled open a drawer and began casting unlocking charms one by one. "Oh, I've just remembered the necklace. I'm surprised I hadn't remembered earlier." A minute or two later, Evelyn pulled out a beautiful necklace that Michael's mother had given her. Every facet of each of the ten or so stunning diamonds shone in all their zealous glory. "It's still as lovely, don't you think?"

"I would hope so." Jess placed her hands on the sides of her stomach, tugging a bit to get it more comfortable. "She's been more of a mother to me in the past few days than mine ever was."
"Of course." Michael put down his wand and took the necklace, standing behind his wife to hook it on to her neck. "As is the woman who's wearing it." He gave her a kiss on the cheek and wrapped his arms around her waist.

Peter was somehow pleased to hear this, and he looked fondly down at the rose. "She's not usually so...emotional."
Evelyn turned pink. "I'm only an old woman now," she protested faintly. "A soon to be grandmother, remember?"

"I remember her being somewhat cold to me last time." Not that Jess hadn't deserved it. "Maybe it's motherly hormone runoff from me."
Michael rolled his eyes. "A very beautiful, young grandmother, I might add. You don't look the part of an old granny one bit."

Peter grinned. "Yes, that must be it. Hormone runoff." He reached out to touch her stomach, and was taken aback when he felt a kick. "How's Gwen?"
"You ought to get your eyes checked," Evelyn answered, reluctantly taking off the necklace and admiring it once more. "And once you do, you should come take a look at Peter and Jess. They look so darling together, Michael."

"Excited." Jess placed her hand on top of his, feeling strangely tingly inside. A good tingly though."She's been moving around a lot lately. I think she knows the wedding is tomorrow."
"I'm wearing my spectacles, Evelyn. I can see just fine." He gave her another little kiss and looked at the necklace, his mind finally starting to work. "So, you actually think you can part with that? I remember you being very fond of it."

"She knows that you're excited, for sure," Peter told her, kissing her once more. He felt great, and he couldn't help but think that it had to be something more than the wedding. After all, it was just a wedding. No one could be this happy from a wedding.
Evelyn smiled. "I still am. She'll look lovely in it." She stood up now, taking Michael's hand. "Come have a look."

"And that you are, I would hope." Jess placed her free hand on the back of his neck, drawing him closer for a kiss. She knew that Peter was excited, of course, but it had really only just dawned on her that she was just as elated about the whole event.
"Well I'll be." Michael whispered quietly to his wife as he peeked down the stairs to his son and future daughter-in-law. "They remind me of another young couple in love from a long time ago." He winked at Evelyn and gave her a happy little kiss before smiling at her.

Yes. He most certainly was excited. Not so much from the wedding, but from what the wedding meant. That he would be able to spend the rest of his life with Jess. And Gwen.
Evelyn smiled. "I'll give this to her tomorrow," she whispered to Michael, giving him a kiss and standing up to put the necklace away.

"I must say, Minerva, for an old hag you do have stamina." Draco was standing outside McGonagall's cell, a bowl of some sort of gray porridge in his hands. "Are you sure you don't want to open your mouth just to eat? It's been days since you've had something in your stomach and you must be starving." Of course, it wasn't as though Draco cared. He just wanted her to ingest the Veritaserum that he had poured into her food.

Minerva only responded with a determined glare. It was, however, very watered down from the steely-eyed stare that she was usually able to pull off. She had only expected her death to be long and drawn-out. This, however, she had not quite anticipated.

"You are a sad, sad old woman. All you have to do is tell me where the wand is, and I'll leave you be." Draco slid the food through the flap in the door and turned away. "I'll be back. Wormtail! Guard the door and keep an eye on her."
