Peter appeared at the top of the stairs and waved at the two of them. "Morning!" He beckoned the two of them up the stairs and gave Desiree a grin. "Jess is through that door. Don't expect her to notice that you're there until a few minutes afterwards, though."

Desiree chuckled. It would be a surprise if the vain girl even noticed her presence at all. She knocked lightly on the door and slipped in when it was opened a crack.

Peter and Ray sat next to each other silently on his bed. Occasionally, the silence would be broken by an awkward question, a brief answer, and the return of the silence. It wasn't half bad, though.

Desiree was extremely surprised when Jess pulled her inside and threw her arms around her. "Ummm...hello there." She felt something bump her and looked down to see how enormous Jess's normally flat stomach have gotten. "The baby's grown alot this week."
Jess nodded, rubbing her stomach lightly with a smile. "She's going to be giant, I tell you." She took a seat on the bed, feeling slightly thrown off center by the constant kicks towards her front. "It's so good to have another girl around. I mean, there's Peter's mother but that's not the same."

"Must be sort of overwhelming," Ray remarked.
"What? Why d'you say that?"
Ray looked surprised. "Well, you're a father, and getting married, and you've got NEWTs coming up, haven't you? And the entire Wizarding World is in an uproar."
"About our marriage?"
"No, about McGonagall," Ray explained patiently.
"What, they haven't found her?"

"Not yet."
Jess shrugged. "They said in the Prophet that Aurors were on the case."
"Well they're pretty clueless." Desiree sighed. "Nobody has seen a trace of her."

"They mentioned you in the paper, now that I think of it," Peter said, sitting up straighter and looking at Ray. "What do you know about it?"
Ray swallowed. "Wormtail took her. We were there--not there in the room, but just outside."

"And they just tried to force one out of you?" Jess may not have been the biggest genius in the world outside of Potions and Transfiguration, but she knew that forcing a Vision was not exactly a good idea.

Peter was intrigued. "Yeah? When do you suppose that they'll find her?"
Ray blinked. Peter was awfully thick. Especially now. "I don't know. I don't know if they'll even find her at all. This is Draco that we're talking about, Peter."

"And you know how many people have gone missing and never found these past few months." Desiree sighed. "It's like our parents generation all over again."
Jess nodded, massaging her baby-filled stomach instinctively. "I hope it doesn't repeat again."

Peter nodded, but he didn't quite understand. "Well, as long as he doesn't bother us," he said, playing with the flower. "I know it's bad and everything, but I've got more important things on my mind, you know."

"It must be scary to think about. Your baby coming into a world like this." Desiree couldn't help but feel close to the girl at the moment. She was so different than normal, and it was sort of endearing. She reached out to feel her stomach, surprised that Jess didn't seem to mind. She was even more surprised when she felt a resounding kick against her palm. "That's so sweet. What are you naming her?"

Ray grew silent, fiddling with Peter's bed sheet. He wasn't acting like himself. Or he was, but exaggerated. The innocent callousness just seemed irritating now, and his aloofness had turned into ignorance.

"That's a nice name, Gwen." Desiree pulled her hand away with a smile and looked at Jess. "I'm going to go grab Ray. I have to ask him about something."

Ray was relieved when Desiree came in. "Sure. I'll just be a bit," he told Peter, standing up quickly and shutting the door after him. "Thank you," he told Desiree quietly, taking a few steps from the door.
