Well, it IS based on another Japanese horror flick, and considering the direction SH4 went in, Pulse could've influenced it a bit.

Interesting. I didn't imagine that it would be based of a Japanese movie when I saw the trailer. It looked like something along the lines of White Noise(That wasn't Japanese was it?).
Anyhoo, I might see The Descent tomorrow... *looks at clock* Um, today. It looks interesting.

The Pulse is based on a J-flick named "Kairo"

Kairo was a pretty good movie. I just wish that someone could come up with an original horror movie and not have to keep remaking J-Horror. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

The scariest movie that I have seen is called Session 9, it's kind of like a psychological horror flick. Worst horror movie (IMO) would have to be Hostel, I really wanted to walk out of the theater.

hmm, yeah session 9 was pretty good. AS for the influx of Americanized Japanese horror films, I'd say it's good. It gives the japanese directors an "in" to the mainstream hollywood market. Plus, they're actually scary, unlike a lot of the recent filth we've been calling "horror" over here in the states.

Does anyone here know of any really scary Asian horror movies? I have seen a lot of them but I am always looking for more to see!

Suicide Club is rather disturbing, but other than that and the usual (Grudge and Ringu and all that) that's all I can really think off the top of my head.

Did anyone here see the original Wicker Man? I saw the previews for the new one and really makes me think of SH1. The orignal recieved major praise on IMDB.

EDIT:
I just got back from watching pulse a little while ago. It was pretty cool but I didn't really find it scary. I really liked the ending scenes.

I saw The Grudge 2 last night. I was actually surprised by how much I liked it. Being it in a theatre full of jumpy girls also made watching it really fun.

Yeah, boogeyman was good. I think it would be good to do horror movies the way they did V for Vendetta. You never saw the dude's face. Even after all had been said and done(including him) you never saw his face. It left a bit of ambiguity to the character, and made him that much more awesome!

Ok, my point: If the creature, or moster, or whatever for the horror film was never truly revealed, it would add to the sweetness of the film. Instead of being an ambiguous creature that turned into the "Oh! that's all it is! and this is how we stop it! Sucker!" it sould be the thing that is defeated, or escaped from is never truly revealed. I think the remake of House on Haunted hill is a great example of it! I have to admit that it is one of the very few horror movies that I enjoyed.

Another was the Cemetery Man starring Rupert Everett. That movie was great! Check it out if you can.

Has anyone here seen Sublime(I think that's what it's called). Apparently it just came out the other day. I hadn't heard anything about it until today.

I watched it. It wasn't really good. It's about some guy that goes to a hospital for a colonoscopy and everything goes wrong. It has a twist ending that you might not see coming simply because you wouldn't expect them to use it.
