Harpoons.
It had been two days. Barth was frankly surprised they'd found her at all. It wasn't encouraging for morale, and being lost at sea was beginning to seem like a real possibility.
At this point, he was considering giving someone his real Name just so he could get back on deck. In case of an emergency.
He had not yet hit that point of desperation.
But there Tomoko was, intact. And under attack by a giant shark. It was a good thing they hadn't arrived 2 days and an hour late. Mandy and Kasumi had already grabbed a harpoon gun, more wicked looking than the grappling gun had been. He found the pile, lay down on the deck, and prepared to take a couple of off-hand shots at the shark.
He wasn't putting together an assembly line again, although if anyone else wanted to set one up, he didn't mind.

Unfourtunatly for Tomoko Mandy was a simple monster and the idea of putting the assembly line together again would not occur to her.
Still. At least Mandy was firing harpoons, missing yes, but still more than their teacher was doing.
Really, was all the saving to be left to them? So helpful.

West was excited. Not to see Tomoko die or anything, since he had heard she had helped with the whole squid thing, but because there were harpoon guns being handed out. Not since the EXTREME SNOWBALL LAUNCHER 5000 had he been so excited to use a violent, projectile-based weapon.
As soon as Malcolm handed it off, the wrath demon hurried to the side of the ship, took aim and attempted to impale that purple sonnuvabetch.

A miss. He reloaded, taking his time.
"Bit heavy, aren't they? These harpoons. And sharp. Are they sure we should be...err..." he trailed off as West claimed a harpoon. ...Oh well. Why not. They were practically hired soldiers at this point anyway. Hired soldiers who still did not have battle passes.

Tomoko: YOU HAVE NO GUN. You have to look cute as you flail/etc. Roll 2 10-sided dice and get a 10 to damage the shark with your cuteness. IT COUNTS AS ONE STRIKE IF YOU GET IT RIGHT. After the shark is dealt with, roll 1 10-sided dice and get an 8 to paddle to the boat.]

SPPPPRROOOOOIIINNNGGGG!!!
Tomoko had pretty much stared down at the deck of the boat when it had started to vibrate, the gears in her head obviously turning with some sort of apprehension as to what was happening.. however, the thought of 'maybe I shouldn't stand here' didn't strike until she realized that the only problem area was right underneath her feet.
Which was exactly when the little doe-eyed kitsune had been launched into the air and gone flying with a pathetic yell.
Actually, it was a splutter of Japanese and some tears as the blonde-and-purple blur went flying off into the distance. And while her security-blanket of choice had wiggled out of her arms in the process of the springboarding, it had landed on the deck of the ship and found a nice nook to hide in.
So it wasn't in as much danger as the panicking student in the middle of the ocean was, staring down TEETH.
"寿司に変換!!!"
Not to say that it would have made much sense even if it was directly translated. But the screaming-in-Japanese + desu eyes...well...

Barth reloaded. Launched another harpoon sharkward. He felt himself nodding off. He rested in the crook of his arm.
"Nnn, pillows," he mumbled.
....West was here to handle it this time, right? And Kasumi? And Mandy? All people much more skilled at killing things than he was. Nobody would mind if he dozed, surely. The situation was probably certainly under control.
His grip on the harpoon gun loosened.

Every time one of those things (Harpoons?) went soaring through the air in her general direction, Tomoko let out a shriek and would nearly let go of the ONLY REASON SHE HADN'T DROWNED YET. Instead, however, she held onto it lamely, ready to just...
cry.
Cry forever.
She hated the boat.
She hated the water.
And for Tomoko, hate was a very powerful thing. She wanted to go home. Why had she agreed to get on the boat again? Ohhhh no. It had been a horrible idea, and she just sniffled, hugging onto the piece of wood again. She had splinters. She was sure of it at this point. So many splinters.
Splinters and tears.
They were all she knew.

Well weren't they just an observant bunch? As though the squid hadn't been bad enough, it now seemed they were about to lose one of the members of their little crew to a shark...and a purple one at that. How decorative. Wrinkling his nose, Sharra took up the gun, leaned over the side of the ship, squinted...and fired off at the creature.
Honestly he really wasn't keen on seeing anyone get eaten today. He didn't really know Tomoko, but all the same...it just wouldn't do to come back from their journey short a member. Very bad form, folks, very bad form.

When Mandy spotted Barth falling asleep she was half tempted to give him a small kick to wake him up again but then decided that enough people where already trying and he'd probably just keep on sleeping anyway.
So instead she loaded her harpoon and took another shot.
She couldn't let West beat her hit count after all.

Ah well, it seemed as though the shark had taken a little bit of damage, at least. Naturally it would be West who landed the first blow, the wrath-demon a rather formidable foe (or at least, the nergal had always judged him thusly). Good in a tussle...Sharra mentally noted that he wanted the pink-haired boil on his side if at all possible, barring scraps in the dirt...manly scraps in the dirt.
Oh wait right...harpoon.
