The only problem with the plan of getting away from the fish to steal their eggs, is when the fish FOLLOWED YOU and ATTACKED YOU FROM THERE. Break's floresce was a worthy foe indeed.

The only thing worse than Break's floresce attack, is Ember's. As the floresce tried to drown the mindflayer, she briefly wondered why she ever thought fish were worth it in the first place.

Oh good. Now they were teaming up on her. Riley was going to have fish fry tonight, when she got home. It didn't matter that she only ate brains, she was going to eat fish tonight out of spite.

Seriously, why were these floresce so violent? She had hardly even come close this time, when floresce attacks rained down upon her. Perhaps this was WHY she was trying so hard - these floresce were such good fighters.. she wanted some for her very own.

That was the last straw. Riley knew better than to keep throwing herself at the attempts. She would come back later, when the floresce were busy.. attacking other customers.

Israfel was back, and so was the ever impeccable aim of the two Trick or Treaters. A few steps in, and he was hit in the forehead, a PP sticking as he quickly turned out.

The Floresctival was swiftly sinking on Merope’s list of favorite school events. Celebration of fish? Awesome! Getting trapped under and impaled by broken booths as a drastically unhappy not-very-mini Fearados went on a rampage? Not awesome. Right now Merope just wanted to get clean, possibly change out of his clothes and wrench the remaining shards of wood out of his torso. But could he? Nope. Not with his battle minipet, Wrathalos, hanging around and bulling him with heat and fire to go do this or that. Like right now. Merope crouched, pressing himself as close to the floor as possible as he stared at the tank of floresce fish. He wasn’t sure if he could make it, or if the fish would let him. Either way, only one way to find out! Quote: Roll a 6 - Bad Roll! - Break and Ember catch you and oh... are tossing you to the angry floresce... You lose a seed to them. Merope had managed to scoot forward one step before two pairs of arms picked him up, holding him by the back of his shirt and legs. They swung him forward. "One!" Then he was swung back. Then forward again. "Two!" "Oh -" Merope managed, before Break and Ember swung him back and forward again, letting go at "Three!" to watch him soar in the air before landing amidst the angry floresce. Merope managed to climb out later, his formerly fine silk shirt nothing more than rags clinging to him.

Merope glared at the gym leaders, then turned his gaze to the Floresce guarding the tank. There had to be a way to get to them! He shook himself, then tried again. Quote: Roll a 5 - Bad Roll! - Ember's team has spotted you and drags you under the water. Fortunately, you manage to escape--eventually. Unfortunately, you lost a seed to them. At first he was going good. Swimming was easier than trying to crawl in... except the fish attacked him yet again, dragging him under. At least Merope could finally wash off the mud that had accumulated on him. He was soaking wet when he came out, but at least he felt clean.

As clean as he was, Merope was still faced with the fact that the fish were dead-set on defending their brood. It wasn't as if he wanted all the eggs, or to eat them as his minipet would rather have. Though... Merope's gaze wandered over to where his minipet sat, watching everything. Perhaps he should send him in? Nah -- he'll try it again, himself. Quote: Roll a 2 - Good Roll! - You manage to wade through the water, snatch an egg and escape! But I'd run---they're on your tail! Slowly, he tried wading in the water towards the tank. He hand managed to scoop out a Firelands Floresce before the rest of the Floresce noticed. Merope high-tailed it out of the water and shamelessly waved the stolen egg in their direction, generally making an a** out of himself as he celebrated their loss. (( SN: Marushii )) PRIZE SENT!

Perhaps taunting the fish wasn’t exactly the brightest idea the glow-marked undead boil had. He carefully sat down next to his minipet (which hissed at his dampness and moved to a dryer spot) and waited for the distraught floresce to settle down. It took longer than he expected, in all honesty. Maybe he should have resisted the urge to hold the egg up and tilt it this way and that, watching the way the light played off of its smooth surface. Either way, it was... well. Rather later for regrets at this point. All he could do was wait, keeping an eye on both the water and where the two Trick-or-Treaters were hanging about. Was now a good chance to risk it? Merope stood up, then approached the Floresce tank. Quote: Roll a 3 - Bad Roll! - Pincer attack! You're caught in the middle of both teams, all of who unleash several vicious attacks on you! You lose a seed in the confusion... Answer: no.

Merope nursed his aching pride and dignity as he stared at the turbulent waters, waiting for another chance to try again. At least he wasn’t dealing with punkfeesh, he reasoned: those would be more than happy to take bites out of more than just his shirt. He subconsciously ran a finger along his ear-fin, carefully as to not accidentally tear a new hole into it. If he wasn’t careful, his fins could quite easily become a useless frill to his person. ...Never mind the fact that he sank more easily than swam in his current human form anyway. When the waters settled (or as best as they could settle with the schools of grumpy floresce churning it), Merope stood up and gave it another shot. Quote: Roll a 4 Good Roll! - You use the floating boards of wood to make your way across, safely making it to the tank and snatching an egg without falling! Hope your balance is just as good for the return trip! Ordinarily, Merope would have waded in and tried to half-swim, half-walk over to the tank. Given his difficulty with swimming, in retrospect that would be where most of his failures came from. As he looked at the waters and his goal again, he noticed something he had overlooked earlier: the floating debris. Merope carefully gathered what he could and created a floating bridge as best as he could. He threw caution to the wind and crossed it, his hand dipping in to snatch up a Ghost Floresce. With prize in hand, Merope turned around and began to head back to shore. He started to, at least: in the midst of turning, he overbalanced and fell right into the Floresce. Merope made it to shore, still clutching his prize. With an irritated growl, Merope pulled out a Floresce from his shirt and threw it back into the gym. Nyyrikki had been hoping to get a fish...
He had not been hoping to get pelted by them. Suddenly even his hood was wiggling with fish and he felt wet and gross and he stunk. Mostly he stunk. Like failfish. Lots and lots of failfish.
He'd be returning tomorrow.... He would get something better than a hoodful of fish.

Astra was back again after a good long absence, the antenna on her head twitching in anticipation of stealing some eggs for herself. Even though it was going be really hard to do so, the place being so well guarded.
She didn't get very far though. As she stood on the floating debris, one of the floresense came and smacked her int he face, where she lost her balance and fell into the lake, losing another one of her seeds.

Thankfully there was plenty of debris around for her to grab onto, so she wasn't in any real danger of drowning. But being in danger from floresense attacks? Yes, that was very real.
As she crawld back onto the debris, another florsense thought it would be good fun to jump out and knock her back into the water again.
Astra wasn't enjoying this
