B: Ignore the shrine and continue on. It's just superstition anyway, and it's not going to hurt anyone not to.

B: After ignoring the shrine, you start to have a string of bad luck. It all starts with you nearly falling into the river, and it just keeps escalating throughout the day. Finally it culminates when you trip over a rock and nearly break your leg! You wonder if it has something to do with the shrine, but ignore it and reluctantly trudge back down the mountain. It's clear you're not going to make it to the peak at this rate. THE END

C: You turn around and land a solid KICK to the shrine. The stone is solid and doesn't budge an inch. But it seems your disrespect has angered some local familiars! They chase you back down the mountain, hissing and spitting and chittering about never letting an outsider trek the mountain again. Looks like you're not getting back on that trail. THE END

If you chose A continue on.

After a moment of thought, you decide to leave an offering at the shrine. It certainly couldn't hurt, after all. You reach into your pack to pull out your bag of oats, shaking some loose - but you lose your grip and wind up dumping out the whole bag in front of the shrine. You're a little disappointed, but you tuck your bag away and continue on. You hope you won't regret that later on in the hike, when your belly is no longer full from your breakfast. It's a worry you dwell on for a little while longer, before you come before a wide river that cuts through the mountain. The bank is clear on either side, and the bridge looks pretty old and rickety.

What do you do?
A: Swim across! That bridge looks like it could give out under your hooves any second!
B: Look for another way across! There's gotta be another option besides swimming or the bridge, right?
C: Take the bridge! If it was really that bad, it would've been replace by now!

A: Without much further thought you dive into the river, kicking your legs to swim across to the other bank. Although it's dried up a lot from the drought, the current is still strong. About halfway across it nearly pulls you under, and then it succeeds. Your life flashes before your eyes as you struggle to get back to the surface, and after what seems like forever you finally manage to break free and swim to the nearest bank. Shaken by the ordeal, you retreat back down the mountain with a newfound fear of rivers. THE END

C: You're no coward! The bridge may be old and rickety, but you're steady on your feet and quick enough to make it across! Your first step on the bridge has it groaning under your weight, and it creaks worse with every hoof you put on it. You aren't even half way there when you hear a great CRACK and all at once, there's nothing solid under your feet anymore. You fall into the river, treading water and staring up at the bridge in shock - there's a great big hole where you fell through, and splinters of wood rain down on your head. You make your way back to the shore and decide to give up for the day. Maybe you'll try again when they've fixed that bridge. THE END

If you chose B continue on.

You're not sure you trust the looks of that bridge, and you're definitely not stupid enough to try swimming across a river this wide. You don't know how to swim that well anyway! With your mind made up, you make your way down the river bank, looking for another way across. About five minutes later you come across a spot where the river has started to dry up, exposing a somewhat slippery - but stable - sandy path across. You quickly cross the river and find your way back to the trail, continuing your trek up the mountain. For a long while it continues to be uneventful, until you hear a distance rumble of thunder and all at once the skies open up and start dumping torrential sheets of rain down onto the land, until it's beating you across the back.

What do you do?
A: Continue onwards. It may be a pretty bad storm, but there's nothing you can do about it now.
B: Seek shelter and wait out the storm. You're pretty sure you heard thunder, and you don't wanna be out in that!
C: Use your blanket to protect you from some of the rain and keep going. You're not a quitter!

B: You quickly look around for possible shelter from the rain, and eventually find a spot under the trees that guards you from the worst of it. You spend hours waiting it out and by the time the storm finally breaks, the day is mostly gone. You're disappointed, but you have no choice but to head back now. You'll be lucky to get back down the path by nightfall. THE END

C: You tug your blanket out of your pack and throw it over your back, hoping it'll protect you from some of the rain. In five minutes, the warm fabric is totally sodden and dripping with each step, making your hike even more treacherous. Eventually you slip and fall, nearly knocking yourself out. You may not be a quitter, but you're not suicidal either. This rain isn't going to let up and it's too dangerous to keep going. You settle in to wait it out, and head back once it's safe. THE END

Since you both chose bad ends, you're revived for this round.

The rain is relentless, but you don't want to risk breaking your stride now that you've settled into a good pace. You continue your trek, careful to find good footholds as the earth becomes soggy from the rain. A couple times your hoof gets sucked into deceptively stable-looking patches of mud, but the rain finally eases up after almost an hour. By then you've come to a split in the path, and just your luck - the trailmarkers are missing. You can see where they're supposed to be, but there's no indication of which path to take. The left one seems well traveled - there's no grass growing and the dirt looks well trampled. The path on the right has patches of grass growing, and although it's not as well used it's clearly a path.

What do you do?
A: Take the path on the right! Well used means it must be the right one.
B: Take the path on the left! You're all about the road less traveled.
C: Continue into the forest! You're a soquili, wild and free - you can find your way to the mountain through there!
