Kaleb frowned, but he didn't press it. Trying to get an answer after he had been told to forget about it never worked. "Are we getting another one?" He asked, pushing those thoughts aside for the moment to focus on their practice instead.

"We could but what's the fun when i know you can just trap the thing." He laughed. "I mean there's no surprise."
Flicking one wrist he aimed Demi, one of the nice gravity based spells, at Kaleb.

Speaking of surprise, seeing the magic suddenly aimed at him made Kaleb yelp and take a step backwards, but his survival instinct kicked in to offset the shock. He managed to cast a strong, translucent domelike shield to stop the Demi spell from hitting him, but the recoil from such a blunt defense jarred him painfully.

He scrunched his nose. Damn he'd hoped that one would have worked. Rude hadn't worked this one up enough to get to Gravijla yet so he couldn't use that.
Wrapping Aero around Demi he wondered if wind and gravity could hold up until it hit Kaleb.

Kaleb bit his lower lip, changing the shape of the shield to create a fine edge so it would allow both the wind and the gravity forces to be deflected off to either side of him. He watched Reno carefully as he maintained his defence, carefully looking for a hint of what would be thrown at him next.

Tsking he tried something. The kid used shield spells and he had a materia that was suppose to negate Shell and Protect so why not. It could work. He followed that with a lightning spell just in case it actually did work.

The first spell completely shattered Kaleb's shield, and he barely had time to channel for his next defense. It was a good thing Reno had used lightning, instead of throwing him to the ground in a twitching heap, Kaleb was able to reach out to the electric attack and absorb it. Then he vanished into a portal.

"Ha, it does work" That would come in handy to know. Good thing most people outside Shinra didn't know how to use Materia.
Sliding his e-mag out he waited for Kaleb to re-appear.

Kaleb didn't spare any distance this time, reappearing right next to Reno and reaching out to touch him. Although it was an unusual form of defense, the redhead would get a nasty shock if Kaleb was able to discharge the stored electricity before it dissipated on it's own. He knew Reno was fast, it would be difficult to touch him without getting smacked upside the head with his weapon first.

He probably would have missed Kaleb if he wasn't used to that slight tingle when magic was used around him. You got used to it after years of being around Mako.
His weapon didn't smack Kaleb upside the head but it did connect rather hard with his wrist.

Kaleb yelped, but didn't pull his hand back as the electricity was discharged against Reno's weapon with a loud crack and a spark. He wanted to put some distance between the two of them, and the moment his fingers touched Reno's jacket he let loose an almost explosive air spell that would throw Reno backwards by at least a few metres. That would give him time to prepare another defense.

His boots skidded against the floor as he was pushed back. He ended up crouched down with his hands on the floor before he looked at the e-mag. "s**t..." Tossing it aside as it crackled he huffed, it wasn't working for a while.

Kaleb shifted his feet a bit, and gently moved his injured wrist with a wince. It was too painful to use, but he really wouldn't need to use his hands for magic unless Reno closed the distance again. He glanced up when he heard the curse. "Sorry, Reno!" he called across the room, looking rather dismayed at what he had done to the weapon.

"If it's broken you're paying for the parts to fix a new one" He dusted his legs off and stood up. Grinning he cracked his nuckles and tried another combination spell. Shield braking plus water plus electricity should have been a pretty good combo.

Cradling his injured wrist against his chest, Kaleb countered Reno's spell with a mix of his own elements. His basic shields were easily neutralized by whatever it was Reno was using, but one reason he went into research was to find ways around that type of weakness. The magic he formed this time was a combination of his usual water resistant and electricity grounding elements, but directly in front of it was another shield with an unusual silvery appearance. This one also shattered once Reno's magic hit it, but it pulled with it the part that would have broken Kaleb's second shield.
