WORK IN PROGRESS.
This took me so ******** long to do, andi t's not even done. I skipped lunch periods and half of a few math periods to get to this point.
Started with a wooden board. The upper half was painted black.
Painted over that with white gesso. It's like acyric paint, basically. I did a few layers or it, then I decided I didn't like it. So I took a small rubber roller and made wavey patterns. It looked awesome on the toop half because the lback background gave it some depth and dimension.
I decided I wanted the wohle thing to start with a black background. So I sanded down what I had previously painted on and spent like, a collective 8 periods redoing the background. I used my hands to paint. Between completing the background and whatnot I used some weird molding stuff (it wasl ike... wet dust...) to shape the dress. It's around 1.5" off the wooden board at its highest point. Actually, it grew mold once and I had to redo that too. It still has a funky smell... ummm.... yeah.
After molding the dress I piled on like 10 layers of gesso to smooth it out and fill in minor holes. That took forever. I starved so much for this piece of art. xp Ummm... yeah.
The finished product won't be compelted for quite some time, I can imagine. The front/smooth part of the dress needs to be painted crimson red, and the ruffles in the back need some finishing touches of shading added.
So finally, here's a crap picture of the aerial view. xd
The picture doesn't catch the detail or the black figure either. the hair has shape to it. It's slightly raised in certain areas. I'll have to take more pictures from better angles eventually.

 Not perfect by any means... but it's amazing for something that I did from scratch xd I especially like the hair... and I know that there are plenty of flaws with it xd

Meky- Well, they do say practice makes perfect. But I think it's alright. The face is an odd shape though.
Unfinished self portrait. Ummmm. Yeah. Not nearly fiished, but the face itself is really close to done. the hair and body and background isn't. I may or may not color it. I'm not sure yet, I'm afraid I'll screw it up if I do. I'm always paranoid about that. xp
Also, there are 12 photos of the dress thingy (top of this page) in the scraps section of my DA account. Huge file, long a** loading time, but it might be worth it?

Still working on the self portrait. Mostly shading now. My camera did something weird to the image.
