"Tell that to Gwen-OWWW!" Jess dug her nails into Peter's arm, her entire body tensed up in pain. "Are we there? Please say we're there."

Peter grimaced. "We're almost there," he lied, watching his arm turn a mottled purple. "Just hold on a bit longer; we're nearly there."

Jess screamed periodically for the rest of the trip, starting to get irked by the inconsistency of the contractions. They weren't regular, not getting any worse or better. They were just there and painful.

After much too much time (in Peter's opinion), the car stopped, and a half dozen Medi-wizards crowded around Jess as soon as the door was opened. "We're here," Peter said tiredly, looking at his arm, which now resembled a thin, elongated blueberry.

"No s**t." Jess was feeling very angry right now as she pushed herself out of the car, nearly collapsing from the pain as she did so. "I'm not going to die am I?"

The Medi-wizards chorused a, "No!" and promptly lifted Jess out of the car and into a wheelchair that sped itself to the emergency room.

Jess gripped onto that wheelchair as though it was a llife preserver, which saved Peter a lot of pain. Once it got her to a room, she pulled herself into the bed, gripping her stomach and starting to cry from the now constant soreness.

By the time Peter actually got into the emergency room, he discovered that he was not allowed in unless Jess expressly ordered him to be there. And she probably wouldn't be thinking about him right now, seeing as she was in tremendous pain. And so, he sat in a chair, his forehead creased with about a dozen worry lines.

"Ow, ow, ow!" Jess was gripping onto anything she could as she screamed, waiting for the stupid medi-wizards to fix the pain so she could just have the baby already. "What is going on?" When she was told that she wasn't even dilating and that she was most likely in false labor, she nearly ripped off their heads. "Are you serious?! Well then get me something to make these go away. And get me my husband!" Oh yeah...she was pissed.

About thirty seconds later, a young intern Medi-wizard appeared in the waiting room. She looked absolutely shaken. "Mr. Keyes?" she asked, almost nervously, thinking that perhaps. Mr. Keyes was as terrifying as the Mrs. Peter stood up quickly. "Yeah? Is she going to be..." The intern nodded, turned around, and led the way quickly to Jess's room.

By the time they got back, Jess was being injected with a muscle relaxing potion that gave her a very pleased looking smile. She looked almost drugged as a matter of fact. "Thanks so much. I feel soooo good now. No, really, thank you." She grabbed the medi who had injected her and pulled him close. "Thanks. Really." She smiled at him until he freed himself and walked out of the room.

"Jess? Jess, it's me. How are you feeling?" asked Peter, frowning as he walked through the room. He was pleasantly surprised, however, to hear no screaming.

"Peter!" Jess looked absolutely ecstatic to see him. "Come here, my darling sweetie love muffin. I feel so wonderful right now. Just absolutely-" She yawned. "-amaziiing."

"Love muffin?" echoed Peter, walking over to Jess. He was dumbfounded, and he looked back at the Medi-wizard in confusion. "What...what did you do to her?" he asked, sitting down next to Jess.

The medi-wizard chuckled. "It's a mild sedative to ease her contractions. She's having false labor pains, so we're just going to put her at ease and keep her here overnight to make sure that's all that's going on." He looked at Jess and her lazy dazy expression. "Sometimes it has this effect on younger mothers."
