Life is Like a Peanut - Hello, and welcome to the guild. The Peer Critique thread was closed to to slow traffic; sorry about that. Unfortunately, GASOC no longer has the activity level necessary to support a useful critique thread. There are several guilds dedicated to improving your art, which can be found by searching through the guild directory. We do have some information on running an art shop, however; please feel free to check it out.

QA - You lie!!! whee heart Hello anyway.

Yume - I'm lying about being alive? I work in Lawn and Garden now in the sunshine, so I'm fairly sure I'm not a vampire...OMG I'M A ZOMBIE?! HOW DID I DIE AND WHO RAISED ME FROM MY UNHOLY GRAVE? OHSNAP Braaaaaains... eek

Ryuu - Fast Food and restaraunts in general have destroyed any culinary inventiveness. People watch TV for that now.

I can't say I've eaten a banana sandwich myself, but I have heard of such. Some add peanut butter. One woman I know adds mayonnaise. I like cucumber sandwiches.

Personally, it's fun to experiment with baking and bring the results in to work. xd Recently I made up some coconut cookies with almonds and chocolate drizzled on top. Can't say I made up the other cookies I tend to bring in. Oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips, macadamia nuts, and cherries. A friend's mom used to make them and she passed away. Left no recipe, so I did some guesswork. Now I make them for him instead. whee

Although I do make an awesome honey-glazed chicken stir-fry. Fiddled and slightly changed a recipe I found. And baked chicken no one can seem to duplicate...

Are there any MGS fans in here? I'm going to have to steal a PS3 soon so I can get my MGS4 fix. Old Snake FTW.

Ryuu - They probably closed because the masses descended upon the store as soon as you left and stole anything that wasn't bolted to the floor. Serves them right!

Does "Tostitos dipped in hot chocolate" count as a weird food?

And yay Calc. I miss it, almost.

Snake = teh secks heart

Actually AyDee, I know people who after I resigned starting going to the store and steal because the new kids didn't pay attention to the customers. LOL hell, even I stole from that dump xd *slaps back of hand* oh well, what I stole was sooo worth it. heart

Tostitos + hot chocolate = wun. biggrin

QA heart so true, and please, never ever make peanut butter cookies, in the oven they turn into fire. The weirdest thing I did as of recent was a pasta-like round little balls made from potatoes with butter basil sauce biggrin you a cook, me a cook, we a cook!

Seth: Holy s**t, I get those emails constantly. Good thing I don't even remember my own password half the time. gonk

I love banana sandwiches. sad
Does anybody know if fried bananas taste good?

How the hell can you guys manage calculus?? I stopped after advanced algebra. Congrats on your bachelor's, Ryuuhou! whee

Aydee: We've already got MGS4 preordered. whee *shares in Old!Snake love*

Erm, I'm alive too, I suppose. xd : I had a hellish time around finals, and then I left at the end of May to go to Paris for 2 weeks for a class trip.
Pictures!!

Looks like everybody's doing well. : D

Thank you, ten thousand Gaia announcements that have nothing to do with my life. Freaking hell.

Life is Like a Peanut - o basically yes

QA - Aw... Does this mean you don't get to wear your superhero cape anymore?!

NMC - Hi! How've you been, aside from being eaten alive by Calc?

Ryuu - My brother and his buddies all had an MGS4 party...and I sat at home, hating him and my PS3-less-ness. I need my quasi-annual fix of David Hayter! Yaytalkingthroughsandpaper.

There's nothing wrong with theft. It's getting caught that's not so impressive.

axel - Bah! I need about a million gadgets (PS3, Wii, WiiFit, that game with the crazy alien bunnies), but, alas, I'm broke.

Paris! One of my close friends majored in French in college (or Art History...but French was involved), and she loves Paris more than any reasonable human being should. It's hard not to take great photos there, or so I'm told. whee

Ryuu - But the next cookies I was asked to bake ARE peanut butter cookies! eek Although I'll be making the coconut again first. One friend asked me to bake 3 dozen and he'll buy them. xd And then management asked me to bake some for a bake sale. I'll be making 108! sweatdrop

Actually, those sound familiar. I could swear there's a dish something like those I've seen before. So it's not odd. However I am now curious to make them.

axel - But math is fun! One friend and I get into big debates at work. The other day we were arguing over string theory. I had to rant string theory is outdated, in a sense. The five seperate theories were amalgamated into M theory. Followed by both of us complaining we can never sleep at night because we think too much.

Yume - Hahaha, you remember that? I could still wear it if I wanted, but as of right now it'd get in the way and it's far too warm outside. I actually have a slight tan (I'm pale, but never burn and rarely tan even though I don't wear sunscreen), though it's a farmer's tan. On the other hand, my name has gone from "Toy Wonder" to "Poison Ivy". Everyone knew I was evil deep down inside. twisted

Holy fsk. Why are May letters 30k? It's hard to make gold when you only post once a week.

QA - What, you mean it wasn't your dress code? xd Poison Ivy is a cooler nickname, though. Is the pay any better? Or is it just nicer to be outside?

EDIT:

Much as I love this guild, I could do without the occasional ******** stupidity that guild mods have to deal with.

User Image

I'm thinking "no" for this one.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 15, 2008 5:33 pm

AD, I think the letters this time around are up to 30k due to the possibility of a halo-like object being in the letter.

actually, it's been confirmed. it's one of the poses of the prism item. not only that, but THERE'S ******** MGS-LIKE ITEMS TOO! HOLY ******** I THINK I'M SHITTING BRICKS!

uh, never mind that. xD

QA :: Poison Ivy? ..... where's that perverted emote when you need one, Gaia?!?! D:<

Noriko :: T____T glad to see you alive too!

Axel :: fried bananas?!?!?!?! OO: !!!!

they're a delicacy here in Puerto Rican cuisine called "amarillitos". really really good too :9 you cut them in angled slices and then fry them that way. try not to cut them up in circles as you would if you were to add them to a cereal bowl.

and now, i'll wait until i come back from work to then get me those MGS items! >;D

Aydee: yeah, there's always something interesting to look at. :'D heart Lots of bread, though! I like bread, but holy crap.
Paris has some amazing cheese, though. o_o

And whoa. Do we get a lot of those kinds of people? gonk

QA: ...theories...what? gonk That's so beyond my scope of understanding xD Props to you for thinking hard- God knows not enough people in the world do.

Shiro: What do you fry them in? (I can't cook.) Why should you slice them in angles? I really want to try this now. xDD

And YES MGS ITEMS! I've never been so excited about a cardboard box. I guess I haven't been on Gaia for awhile, because 30k for a letter is flooring me. gonk
PostPosted: Mon Jun 16, 2008 5:36 pm

Shiro - o.O Ohhhkaaay.

axel - Mmmmmbread. It must be carb heaven.

Not too many, thankfully. Every now and then we'll get an "OMFG let me in dis guild cuz i r0xx0rz!" and I have to wonder how they found us. I mean, it's not like they seem to know how to spell. Or do anything else, for that matter.

Yume - No, it wasn't part of my dress code. xd But if I don't wear it for a while, people become concerned if I'm feeling okay or not.

As for the nicknames, because I was wearing a cape, a friend and I began jokes about Superheroes. She became Batman until she got her nails done. From then on she's been Huntress. We've debated whether or not the guy from Pets is Beast Boy or Aquaman, only now he's in Foods so so much for that. In L&G, I'm Poison Ivy. The Hardware guy (her brother), however, is Dutch Boy. *is shot*

Pay is slightly better. But once I get a car and my license I quit anyway. Can't take it anymore. gonk Besides, the few people that made the job any fun have been fired, quit, or is currently being an a*****e. But that's a whole can of worms and I suppose he doesn't deserve that title but still.

The original idea of moving to L&G is that it's busier back there in summer and I'd have some work to actually do. I don't. We get it done fast and I end up standing around talking, or wandering the store. I've had it.

Shiro - I want the cardboard box like burning. eek

Sorry, I don't wear the skimpy clothes (that would be frightening and against the dress code), and I'm blonde.

axel - I make jokes about "Nerd Cards". But then, we also have discussions about how rainbows form, if T-Rex had feathers, and the rovers on Mars. People are always highly amused and just can't get in. Minus occasionally one older man who can USUALLY join in, or if it's politics which I fizzle out and only two others jump in. Honestly? This guy has a tendancy to ramble on and switch from topic to topic. Half the store will later come up to me and ask WTF he meant.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 17, 2008 5:48 pm

k.... one for axel.... one for QA .....

why do I feel the others may be hitting on me for some items later on? XD

oh well, there goes my pixel wealth.

Axel :: Actually, it's better to do this with plantains than bananas. the reason being the bananas would pretty much become mulch as they are being fried.... anywho, here's the recipie.

Fried Plantains

2 Ripe Plantains

4oz. Vegetable Oil

Wash plantains in cold water to remove dirt from plantain. Using a sharp knife, make an incision along the entire length of the plantain.

Slide your first finger along the incision and remove the skin.

Place the fruit on a cutting board and cut it into ¼ inch pieces at a 45 degree angle. Heat oil on high, and then reduce heat to medium.

Carefully place plantain pieces into the warm oil. Let the pieces fry until they turn light brown around the edges. Turn the plantain pieces on their opposite side as soon as the edges turn brown.

Fry plantains for one minute more. Remove from skillet, place on paper towel and allow oil to drain.

Serve as snack or side dish with any main entrée.

Note: When you buy your plantains, make sure the plantains are yellow ripe with dark spots. The more yellow the plantains are, the better they are for frying.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AD :: seriously, you should know better than to pay attention to me when I go into a fangirly mode.

and for the LAST time I swear to whichever god you pray to that it's not me who's getting people into the guild. True I used to long ago, but that was in 2k4-2k5. . . the only reason I'm stating this is because of my obvious role in this guild............... seriously
ninja
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QA :: clothes (or lack thereof) and hair pigmentation aren't really important. It's okay, AD never understood or liked the quips and jokes I'd tend to say anyways.
