Yeah, but no respectable Apple user goes near Microsoft anything. Safari browser, Mac OS/X... I don't know about a word processor.. maybe Open Office? Staroffice?

It doesn't matter to me.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm going to sleep.

You're leaving... crying

Maybe. My mom is sleeping and she's bound to wake up any minute because of my noisy typing and order me to go to sleep. Orientation is early and I need to get up extra early to trim my hair. The back looks mulletish. gonk I have to fix that.

I don't really understand what goes through the mind of a band that wants to play at a convention. That's totally bizarre. gonk I guess it must be the anime link, and while that's totally the wrong reason for them to come over here, at least it gets them here.

As for the bands running into crazyrabidfans, well. Who cares about "protecting the bands from fangirls"!? I mean honestly. I'm sure they see them in other places, for one. It's not like americans are specifically bred to be fangirly. :/ And I'm sure they're used to it. Every band has scary fangirls. Even the ugly ones.

Bands coming to anime conventions = a large audience in one solid place. They get the most exposure by catering to anime fans. There are a LOT of people who have never heard japanese artists, but have only heard anime theme songs. Most of the time, people get into the music after anime. It's not really their link to anime, but ours.
Making an all music convention, especially rock, is extremely difficult, and doesn't have the same draw as the anime conventions (for someone to host a band, that is)
How many vendors sell jrock? How many people are into jrock vs. anime? what's the incentive to make it an all music convention, if you're not sure it's going to flop.
Really it's not the bands that choose to appear at anime conventions. It's more the band is approached to appear at a con.

As for the protection. They have it in japan too.
But the problem is, that japanese girls are NOT as bad as american girls with Japanese bands. At least the accesible ones. Little indies bands do demachi (chatting with fans after the lives). The problem is, that since there is so few of chances to meet the bands outside of a 3 day period, that the fans get a little bent out of shape. There are fans that will maul the boys, just to touch or to grab a piece of SOMETHING. It really is scary. If there is someone around that looks like some sort of security, they won't really attack them, will they?

The anime-jrock link is ridiculously arbitrary. rolleyes but you're right, it does create something of a venue i suppose. silly one, but it's there.
heh. vendors that sell jrock.. well.. i saw some cds at the anime store.. xd

And I didn't mean that bands shouldn't have security for their lives, I was more referring to the people who thought bands shouldn't come to the US because they'd get mauled. gonk And if that's really the case with American fans, that they get crazy because it's so hard to see the band, then maybe that's some incentive for the band to tour more, eh? surprised Not that I think it's okay to spazz out and grab band members. It's sad that some people do, and spoils an opportunity for the sane fans. But nothing really can be done about it. sweatdrop
