"Do you think we will be fine without a watch at night?" Gabel knew it could be a risc, but if they didn't get a proper rest, it would be harder to go on. "If you insist, I will take the first watch." He wondered, if she would be all right this night. He had his fur and the wind wouldn't bother him tooo much.

Neytiri looked at him thoughtfully for a moment. "We are pretty far out--not many people are out here at this time. We will be fine I think, with both of us resting for a bit." She wrapped her arms around herself. "you should go ahead and go to sleep. I am going to stay up for just a little while longer."

"All right." He got his things and prepared for the night covering himself almost completly with the fur. "Good night." The fire was out again and it was darker now. Over them they could see the stars and a full moon was giving them light.

"Good night," Neytiri said as she watched him get ready for bed. She turned her gaze back up to the stars and just watched them. She had always been told that the stars were their ancestors that had passed on, and that they watched over their families. A small smile appeared on her face. That was what gave her comfort in times when she felt alone. Just the thought that her parents, and now her lover, were still watching over here. Would they be proud of her? She hoped that they would.

Gabel threw his fur over his back and laid his head down on a bigger stone. Not the best pillow, but better then the earth. He didn't want to have dust in his mouth again from breathing it in. The wind was still blowing and there didn't seem to be anything to protect them from this cold. There weren't any mountains around them anymore and trees were rare as well. Gabel realised, that it was getting a bit more wet as well. The canyon country had been very dry.

Soon Gabel was dreaming under his warm fur. People were looking down at him. Little Gabel was looking at the eyes watching him. There was nobody he knew. Where was his mother? Where was his father? He looked around. firefully he turned his head right and left. And then Gabel suddenly woke up again.

Neytiri sighed as she averted her gaze from the sky. Now was not the time to think about them. What she should be thinking about was what she was going to do when she finally caught up to her brother. It wasn't only her life now that she had to worry about. Her gaze went to Gabel who was moving his head back and forth as he slept. She really should have left the town without him, sneaking out with the cover of darkness, but something had stopped her.

She was going to have to protect him when they came across her brother. Jonah was strong and he would use Gabel as a distraction to win the fight they were going to have. Neytiri sighed and lay down on the ground, once again staring straight up at the stars.

Under the earth something big was making a tunnel. If you laid down your ear on the ground you would be able to hear the scratching. It wasn't a mole, like you often saw them in other countrys. It was bigger and looked more like a mouse or a hamster. Something with big teeth and a good nose. Only his eyes weren't that good with daylight. They prefered the darkness and the wet earth here. He sniffled a little. Worms and insects could be satisfying for a while. But sometimes you needed something more. He didn't come out often, because there was nothing out there to hide yourself from birds or other meat eating animals.

Neytiri frowned and placed her ear against the earth, thinking that she had heard something. Maybe it was just her imagination. Traveling by yourself made you more aware that people, or things, would attack more often. She pushed herself to sit upright as she looked around the small camp they had made. Already the fire was dying down and they had no more wood to make it bigger.

Neytiri shivered as the cold seeped into her bones. "Damn," she muttered as she stood up and stretched. Of course there wasn't going to be much rest for her this not. She began to walk around their small camp slowly, trying to warm up her body.

This was when gabel woke up from his nightmare. He looked up and saw Neytiri walking arpound. She looked as if she was very cold. Her body was shivering. Gabel wondered if it was ok only for a moment. Then he thought, that it was more important to keep each other save, then caring about something like this. "You should get under my fur as well, before you get a cold." Gabel lifted his fur a little. He didn't smile or anything. He didn't want to flirt with her. He just thought practical about this matter. And he wasn't really thinking about her as woman. She was a companion at the moment. Someone who was on a task with him.

Neytiri stopped her pacing when she heard Gabel speak to her. She turned her gaze to him, a little bit surprised that he offered to share his fur with her. She hesitated for a moment before moving over to him and snuggling beneath the warm fur. It definitely beat doing this than being cold. In the next town they stopped at she would have to buy herself something to keep her warm on nights like this.

"Thank you, Gabel," Neytiri said softly as she settled down. It was already much warmer and her eyes were feeling a bit droopy.

Gabel put the fur down on Neytiri and got close to her. His body heath would warm her up fast, so she stopped shivering. He could feel her heart beat next to himself. "Have a good night." He closed his eyes again. He hadn't been sleeping close to some body like this for a long time. Somehow it was akward. But somehow it was comforting as well. What a strange feeling. He fell asleep soon after this again.

It didn't take very long for Neytiri to stop shivering. The combination of the fur and Gabel's body heat warmed her up quite nicely. She yawned and snuggled close to him. It had been a great while since she slept this close to someone. Soon enough her eyes were closed and she was fast asleep.

Suddenly the earth moved. They had been sleeping for a few hours before the animal under the earth decided to come outside. Gabel woke up and realised, that it hadn't been a dream this time. The soon would go up soon and it wasn't as dark as in the middle of the night anymore. He tried to get on his feet as fast as he could. He was still a bit dizzy

Neytiri woke suddenly when the earth moved and Gabel tried to get to his feet. She sat up quickly and looked around them. It was becoming lighter around them. Soon the sun would be up. She could feel that something was...different, when she lay her hands upon the ground. Quickly she got to her feet, her eyes scanning the area.

And then a little hill formed and something came out of the earth. It looked like a big hamster. It was about the sice of a dog and seemed to have sharp teeth. His nose was sniffing for something to eat. It was only a metre away from Gabel and Neytiris sleeping place. It couldn't see them well. But there shadwos were big enough to let it stop. Although it was hungry, it was still shy. He was used to live under the earth and eat something, that was smaller then himself. It carefully went closer. Sniffing and moving it's head around.
