The time of peace between all beings has ended. The elves have retreated into their sanctuaries to keep away from all of the fighting. They also stay away from the others because for some reason elves have become somewhat hated. Especially by the Witch Hunters. The Witch Hunters are men and women who hunt down anyone considered Heretics.

A High Priestess of the elves has left her village to hunt down a murderer; her own brother who killed her Fiancee. Her brother was so used to having her all to himself that he couldn't stand the thought of sharing her company with another, so he killed the man that she loved. He was condemned to death, but escaped. She vowed to find him and make him pay for what he did.

Neytiri moved silently through the forest. Her footfalls were soft, delicate. Nobody would even know she was there unless they were intentionally listening for her. She knelt down and placed her hand upon the ground. Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes and just listened. He had come this way not too long ago. "Jonah," she hissed softly under her breath. "You cannot keep running. I will never stop." She stood up and brushed the dirt from her clothes.

Several months ago she had been happy. Neytiri was engaged to a wonderful man whom she had loved her whole life. She had never thought that her brother had been so possessive, so cruel. When he realized that she was going to marry and he would be on his own...he killed her fiancee. Killing one of your own was punishable by death as decreed by the Goddess and her High Priestess. As High Priestess of her people, Neytiri had the uncomfortable decision of whether she would pardon her brother, or condemn him to death. Just like all murderers, she condemned her one and only brother to death. When Jonah heard this, he fled deep into the forest. Neytiri could have sent someone else to hunt him down, but she felt that it was her responsibility. That was why she was out here now even though it wasn't safe for her people to be out like this. Luckily she had the ability to hide her elven features.

Neytiri continued on her trek in the same direction that Jonah's essence was heading. She looked up at the sky and realized that it was pretty late. "Should probably make camp," she muttered to herself. With a sigh she took off her pack and began to pull things out to make camp. She would sleep up in the trees, secure herself so that she wouldn't fall.

Last midwinter he hadn’t been coming back. In three days it would be midwinter again. The boy was sitting at the window and looked outside in the darkness. His mother was already sleeping. With everyday that passed on her eyes had lost some of their brightness. Gabel had become thinner himself. Although he could sense, that nobody in the village - except from his mother and him – believed in the return of his father, he didn’t want to give up. As long as there was still hope, he would be looking out for him. And when he reached his arms out and was picked up by these strong ones again, he would look at them with satisfaction. Like if he said, “Didn’t I tell you, he would come…”

The years passed on and he didn’t come back. Nor did they hear anything from him…

Neytiri was silent as she moved around quickly, setting up her camp. She had already eaten something and now it was time to get some sleep. She swiftly made her way up into the tree and with a thin rope she wrapped it around herself and the tree branch. Now she would accidentally fall out of the tree. She settled herself in her spot and pushed her hair from her face. Neytiri closed her eyes and willed herself to fall asleep. She would have to wake up early in the morning to keep on Jonah's trail.

The town wasn’t crowded today. There was no special festivity, nor was there a market day. Gabel was on his way to the black market, when he almost bumped into a child sitting next to the stairs. The girl had two ponytails and was looking curiously at him with her blue eyes. Her red hair was reminding him of his mother. “You shouldn’t stay outside so long. Aren’t your parents already worrying for you?” The man found the narrow alleyway he had to go next and turned that way. When he heard something behind him, he looked back again and saw the little girl from before. ”You shouldn’t follow strangers like me. Get back home…” She didn’t care about his angry look and stopped right next to him. Then she tucked one of his sleeves and looked up to him. ”Ok, come along. But I won’t take any responsibility for what is going to happen.”

After a few minutes he turned round again and faced another man. This one had a serious expression on his face and a scar. ”Hand the girl over to me, or you will be treated like a traitor.” He didn’t understand, what the other wanted from him, but when he felt the touch of the small hand at his leg, he knew, he couldn’t do, what the other suggested. ”I’m sorry, but I can’t follow your request. What business do you have with her?” The man touched the weapon at his side. ”She’s a witch’s daughter. I have to bring her to the inquisition in this town. They will find out, if she is doomed as well.”
The man knew, that the girl’s mother had already been killed. He didn’t care, what happened to her. She was most likely a witch as well and didn’t deserve any other treatment. ”So if you please would hand her over to me…” He was prepared to draw out his weapon and kill them both if necessary. Suddenly the girl began to cry. ”I don’t want this…” She let go, of the others and hand ran away. She had no chance. When he got her, there was already blood on his blade. ”I didn’t kill him, but he most likely won’t help any of your kind again.” The girl was still crying, when he tied her up and picked her, to get her to the church. ”You shouldn’t have run away in the first place. It’s your fault, that somebody else was harmed.”
Gabel’s heart had already lost all its feelings. He didn’t care, what was going to happen to the girl. Nor did he care for anybody else in this world.

Neytiri knew she wasn't far from a town, and normally she ignored what was going on in the world of the humans, but something caught her attention. All of a sudden she felt her brother's presence in that town. She growled softly and quickly undid her safety precaution. She dropped lightly to the ground and stood up straight. She had to get there quick before he did something stupid. People would try to kill him, and they would fail. When Jonah had killed her fiancee, he had stolen Marcus' powers. That was not a good thing at all. Anyone who came upon him would be in great danger. She hurried to the town, praying to the Goddess that she wasn't going to be too late.

It only took Neytiri a few minutes to arrive at the town. She made sure that her features were completely hidden so as to not draw attention to herself. There it was---he was close by and surely he knew that she was there for him. She quickened her pace and as she did so Jonah's scent began to drift further away. "Damn it," she muttered under her breath. Neytiri moved faster, easily dodging around the crowded streets.

Gabel had been fourteen years old, when he left his home town. He had been learning how to fight since he could hold a weapon and had been listening to the stories of pater Gabrini all the time. The old man had known a lot about the world outside of the small town. Gabel had been very fascinated. But this had not been the only reason, why he had left his past and his mother behind. Since his father had been lost, he had sworn to go out and find him somehow. Two years later, he had already gained himself a name between the other hunters. Most of the time, he was earning money as a marketer. If you needed anything, that couldn’t be gotten easily, you only had to ask Gabel. He would have it the next day. Although he earned enough money with this, he didn’t settle down somewhere. Gabel was travelling from town to town searching for his father. The last thing, he had heard was, that his old man, had brought himself into trouble with the inquisition. Gabel knew, that his father wasn’t a bad man. One of this witches must have persuaded him. He hated every magic. This wasn’t something god was fond of and Gabel was a religious young man.
At the moment Gabel was staying at another town again. He was on his way to the black market, when he recognized something odd. There was somebody hurrying through the streets. A hood was covering the persons face. Gabel decided to follow unseen. He wanted to find out, what business this person had here. From the clothes he could tell, that it was a stranger.

Neytiri saw Jonah through the crowd. He looked over his shoulder and when he saw her, he just gave her a wicked grin before darting away. "b*****d," she hissed under her breath as she moved faster. The whole time she had been running the hood of her cloak had been up, but in her haste it fell off her head. Her long, silky blonde hair flowed freely down her back. It was a good thing she had used a glamor to hide her elven features. She wasn't proud of having to do this, but it would make things a lot easier if she wasn't caught.

Finally Neytiri broke free from the crowd and she let out a frustrated sigh. "Son of a..." She gritted her teeth and shook her head. Jonah had led her to the edge of the town and he had once again disappeared into the forest. He had become crafty and smart. He had definitely stepped it up a notch. Neytiri reached up a delicate hand and brushed it through her hair. Her dark blue eyes scanned the area as she tried to sense which way Jonah had really gone. He had made false trails and now all she had to do was sort it all out.

And then he saw blond hair shimmer like silver in the sunlight. He had known, there was something odd about this person. Gabel followed her through the streets until they reached the other side of town. He wasn’t the only person hunting for somebody. Gabel saw, that she was running after somebody. But before she could get him, he climbed the town’s wall and disappeared in the forests outside. Gabel kept his distance. He didn’t know, if she was a witch or something else, but he knew, she wasn’t a normal woman. An armed beauty running after somebody in the middle of the day… No, there had to be more about this. So when she stopped, he tried to have a closer look without her seeing him. If she would try to climb the wall as well, he would draw his gun. This one, wouldn’t get away this easy as well. First he would find out, what she was and what she was doing in this town.

Neytiri stared up at the wall, her head tilted to the side. "Tricky, tricky, tricky," she muttered under her breath. Her voice carried in the wind and it sounded delicate, like a beautiful song. She knew that there was somebody behind her, watching her. She was no fool. This wall would be no problem to get over, but it would be a nuisance if a lot of people saw her. That's why she waited a few moments to make sure that nobody else was coming up.

The wind seemed to pick up around Neytiri, sending her hair and cloak billowing around her. Suddenly her feet lifted off the ground and she was standing on the top of the wall. She crouched down, staring out across the forest. Finally she sensed it, the direction that Jonah had gone. "There you are."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 12:43 pm

Magic… He had foreseen something like this. Before the person reached the top of the wall, Gabel had already drawn out his weapon and hurried in a right position to aim at her. ”Stop right there, or I’ll shoot you down, before you can even bend your knees to jump from there.” There was a serious look on his face, that didn’t really fit to his young appearance. The witch hunter had seen more than a lot of people of his age. And he wouldn’t hesitate to do, what he had said. She could do magic and there was not the time to be fair. And people like her didn’t deserve to be treated fair anyway. Somebody, who could do something like this, had already lost his or her immortal soul to the powers of devil.

Neytiri looked down at the young man that shouted at her, gun aimed. Her head tilted to the side slightly as her dark eyes stared deep into his. "Let me guess," she spoke softly, "You do not like magic? Magic users? All of your kind are the same. We have done nothing wrong to you." She allowed a brief glimpse of her true elven features. "You may try to shoot at me, but your bullets will not harm me. I am protected--on a mission to find and kill a traitor. He deserves not to live."

Suddenly she was next to him. Neytiri's hand reached out and took the gun quickly from his hand. "You are much too young to have such hate in your heart." She walked around to the front of him and placed her hand over his chest. "To live in hate and fear like this---it drags a person down. Makes life unbearable." She took a step away from him, his gun still in her hand.

"If I do not stop Jonah---he will hurt and kill many around him. Frankly I am quite surprised he didn't harm anybody in the town. Perhaps it is because he sensed me nearby."
