Although it had only been a few hours, Dutch had stumbled home after cleaning and tending to his bloodied knuckles, he passed out on the old mattress he was fortunate to have been given by the PD AI. It was probably one of the most comfortable he ever had, and every time he let his body relax on it, he was out cold within seconds, only waking when the sun's light slipped in through the outside world, or when something made a lot of noise. And tonight, something made noise outside of the tunnel and woke him immediately.
He moved to a dug out where he could see the embers of his fire, and with some wood he gathered and a few dry leaves, he managed to start a small fire. Just enough to dimly light the little dwelling. Then he motioned to his under suit and quickly dawned it, grabbing a knife on the way out. He moved swiftly and silently though the tunnel and soon he reached the bush that hid the hole to his home and peeked through, seeing what was out there.
He swore he saw a figure move through the woods just directly ahead of him. "Hello?" he called out, wondering if it was just an animal, or a person

"Must be....over here..." Nariko reasoned once more, feeling herself getting warmer the longer she kept at walking around as the sting of the wound still was something she couldn't get used to.
About to turn and head to where she figured the camp had been set up as she didn't want to yell out for fears of what she could draw to her with the recent escalation of aliens about; her ears perked as she heard a voice call out rather close to her location. Stopping she looked over to where she thought she heard it and didn't see anything....but it sounded a hellavuh lot like Dutch. So much that she decided to risk it, calling out on shaky and quiet vocals since the strain hurt her muscles even more to yell.
"Dutch.....is that you?" Turning her body she slipped around a bush to avoid being jabbed in the wrong spot as she slowly walked into the small moonlit opening away from the forest line. Illuminated, she looked around.....had she imagined it out of of desperation? The growing blood stain seeping through her bandages gave all indications the notion could have very well been true.

He peered through and saw his call had not gone unanswered...and lo and behold it was Nariko. You have GOT to be kidding me he thought as he pushed through the bush and stepping into the moonlight path.
"So what makes you come back?" He said gruffly, not to happy that she ran from him in the first place, but now showing up outside his home and waking him? Even if she was injured, he was not appreciative of it. Still...he was a field medic, and couldn't let a bullet injury go unnoticed.
"Follow me" he said rolling his eyes and pushing the bush back revealing the entrance to the tunnel

Feeling a bit of relief when it was indeed him who stepped out into view, she had to admit she really didn't want to be here as much as he didn't want her to be. Once again she was the idiot, and she was sure that he saw her as just that who was incompetent of being any kind of soldier.
Yet now wasn't the time to be thinking that way, as his question prompted her to look up at him. "I.....can't remove the bullet alone. It was deeper than I thought, and my arms can't reach." Her voice held a strange tone of nervousness not usually present in her strong (or yelling) vocals. None the less, she wasn't about to refuse the request as she nodded, making her way over to him to discover the tunnel.
"I'm....sorry to wake you; but thank you..." The pain was really starting to get to her, as once she had stopped to wait to follow as instructed she wobbled slightly; pushing her stance wider to keep her up as she waited.

"Whatever" he remarked coldly as he waited for her to enter, following behind and maneuvering around her to get to the cave before she did, setting up an area where she could sit and getting his medical supplies out.
"Would you rather be awake or asleep while I get that thing out? I guarantee you, it would be easier if you weren't awake...less pain for you...less chatter for me to listen to" he groaned a bit more. He opened his pack from his armor and found a pair of long tweezers, hanging them over the fire to sterilize them thoroughly.

Standing to the side once in the cave to remain out of the way, she knew she'd rather be asleep as she found out from when she tried to remove it herself. However, with how irritable he was she knew if she was put under then she would have to stay here under his care until she awoke. Biting her lip, she looked around the small abode while he readied the supplies...it would be better in the long run.
"I'll be awake...." She began, sitting down once it was set up for her with a bit of difficulty. "I won't talk, I promise. I wouldn't want to impose further by being put under."
Lowering her head to rest on her knees which she tucked up since the space here was limited, she gave a small yawn while waiting. It had been a while since she'd been up so late, and it was catching up to her now that the adrenaline of trying to find him in the first place was wearing off.

"hmm..very well then" he said coldly as he put on some gloves. He lowered the tweezers further into the fire, while he went to retrieve his helmet. He didn't have face mask, so it would have to do. Then with some cloth, and the boiling hot tweezers, he went over to her. "Sit on that rock and show me where the round is...if you want something to bite, then tough luck......" he scowled behind the opaque visor, feeling very out of place with it on and not the rest of his armor

With her eyes still pressed along her skull she rose, making her way over to the rock and sitting upon it as instructed. Unwrapping the bandages from around her stomach she sat up as straight as she could to open the wound up and on her side she pointed more than halfway in towards her back on the left. "Its about here, give or take a little." Then she shut her mouth, not bothering to comment on his rudeness as she raised her left arm behind her head to hold on her ponytail; the left holding the rock tight while she used her heels to keep her body secure on the rock to keep her in place.
Turning her head away she closed her eyes and braced for the worst, intent to keep her word not to say a thing. Just get through it, and then it'll be okay. Nariko reasoned to herself, knowing from her own attempts she'd be in a world of hurt; but at least this time she knew it would be successful than a fruitless attempt; which gave her some strength to hold out.

Grumbling quietly to himself, he got down on his knees and with one hand pushed around where the wound was, carefully putting the tweezers into the wound and reaching for the bullet, soon finding it with little to no trouble. Getting it out, that was a different story. Although he could feel it just on the end, he couldn't quite get the metal grips to hang on the bullet.
"This is what you get for not having this removed and trying to get it out yourself" he growled as he tried more and more to get the bullet, failing with every attempt. He pulled the bloody tweezers out and tried to think of some other way of getting the bullet out of her back

Feeling her jaw clench as the heat of the tweezers stung at her open wound, it took most of her might to keep still; focusing on keeping her breathing slow and shallow as to not allow her chest to move too much. The digging was as painful as she remembered from doing it herself, as her grip intensified on her ponytail to try and divert some of that pain to something more manageable.
As he spoke, she could only nod her head with a quiet 'Mhmn', her right arm clutching to the rock tightly as if she could break it under the pressure. Oh, how it would have been nice to cry out; yet her lips were sealed for the time being. After he had pulled out the tweezers to try and formulate a new plan, she let out a shaky sigh and slumped a bit her eyes watering around the corners while her tail twitched from the pain. She really had nothing to bring to the table so she kept her silence, trusting he would have more experience than most here with these kinds of injuries.

He paced around the room for a bit trying to think of a better, plan, but all his options were boiling down to either cutting her open and pulling out the bullet with ease, or digging more and more, probably pushing it to where he can't reach it. He didn't like the options, but it was all he had. He walked over to his med kit again and pulled out a vial of liquid and a seringe.
"I can't keep digging like that, so I have no choice but to put you under. Consider it an act of kindness" he said coldly as he stuck the needle in the vial and drew out just enough to put her to sleep for a few hours. Long enough for him to take care of the mess she put herself into.
He had a grass mat on the floor, and as he wasn't too keen on getting that nice mattress bloody, he motioned to the mat. "Lay on your stomach and keep one of your arms out."

Dropping her gaze to the ground, she wasn't pleased of this new prognosis...yet she wasn't in a position to argue. It would be impossible not to move when she was being cut into...and like he said, if he couldn't get it out the other way he really was left with no other choice.
"Act huh...." She commented mostly to herself as she stood and slowly lowered herself onto the grass; she would have offered to just lie on the dirt but she'd knew she would get a lecture on her stupidity and how it would almost guarantee infection.
Laying down as told, she lifted her left arm up to give him access to lay away from her body. Turning her head away from him she rested her cheek on the glass with her eyes half lidded, losing herself in her thoughts for the time being.

He kicked down his pillow. He would have grabbed it, but already his hands were covered in blood from her wound. "Use that...just try not to drool too much" he said with a hint of a chuckle.
Quickly he bent down and tapped her arm, trying to find the veins and arteries in her arm. Once he had, he poked the needle in to her elbow and drained the hollow tube of it's contents. "You should feel drowsy in about 5 seconds, once you are asleep, I'll start...Sweet dreams" he sighed as he put his hand around her wrist in the precise fashion to check her pulse, waiting.
Once she fell asleep, he went to work, wasting no time in cutting away at the flesh around her back, removing the bullet, cauterizing bleeding veins with hot tweezers and cleaning the wound. After sewing it up with some thin plastic thread, he bandaged the wound.
And..being a gentleman, he picked her up and put her on his bed and let her sleep there while he headed out to clean himself in a nearby stream

Snapping back into reality when the pillow hit her face, she pulled it off with a frown yet it slipped away a moment later as her ears perked. Did she just....hear a chuckle? Perhaps he'd given himself something, but she wasn't about to argue as she moved her other arm under the pillow to try and keep it off the grass the best she could while resting her head on it.
As Dutch settled down to get to work, her eyes already felt as if they were closing; all she could smell was his scent, and surprisingly it wasn't bad like she had presumed. Watching the glow from the fire flick across the walls of the cave and not even flinching as she felt the p***k of the needle; she nodded her head. "Dutch, I...." She tried to begin with a redness staining her cheeks, but slipped away shortly after; falling into her induced slumber.

Slowly rousing from her slumber as she had rolled and hit her tender wounded flesh, with a soft groan she tried to open her eyes despite how they felt like lead. Nariko felt oddly warm and comfortable as finally her eyes cracked open; not sure exactly what was going on till she rolled back off her left side when it hit her.
Why was she in his bed? What time was it? She assumed it must have been at least an hour or two from the shot she'd been given; but she couldn't tell from the cave. "Dutch..?" She spoke up, lifting her head from the pillow to look around although it was proving difficult when her eyes kept shutting on her without her fully realizing it.

After going to the river and thoroughly cleaning any blood that may have gotten on his body,suit, or helmet, he returned to feed the fire once more finding she had yet to wake up. So he moved to a rock that was his chair and leaned back in it, finding that it was surprisingly comfortable, and soon drifting off to sleep where he sat, slumped over and with one arm managing to hold his head up.
Even as Nariko stirred, he didn't, but rather he let out a grumbling snore and wiped the drool away from his lips, while sleeping peacefully.
