Thayne nuzzled Loki under the chin briefly, as much out of respect for her rank as affection, before going after Hige. He followed his brother, nearly shoulder-to-shoulder but not quite, to the beach he'd just come from. Upon arrival, he started scratching around in the sand, rolling and digging into the shore before rising again to shake the sand from his coat. His skin itched from the humidity he wasn't yet used to.
He sat back on his haunches and nosed Hige gently. " 'ow's ev'ryt'in' on this end, brother?"

Hige gave a tongue rolling yawn as he walked along-side his brother, both in the pack sense and emotional sense. Sometimes he could look at Thayne and easily still see that pup he'd found in the woods when he himself was still just a teen. It was amazing to think how fast they grew up from then, both he and Thayne.
"I tell y' Thayne, no one warns you about this kind of stuff in parenthood class."
It was all meant to be joking, granted it was slightly reluctant joking. Tatti probably hadn't even crossed the pack's border yet but already he was starting to worry. What if she was like Balan, and simply never returned?
No, Tatti wasn't that kind of wolf. She had been brought up better than that. Between Loki and Hige and Thayne, the little she-wolf had three role-models that were anything but flakey. Hige had never met Tatti's parents, he mused not for the first time, but he imagined them to be very kind wolves for Tatti to be as sweet as she was, even before they found her.
Still, he rumbled briefly in his throat and stretched, surveying the area with a quick sweep of his eyes. He saw Calico lingering near the shoreline.
"Had you had a chance to meet Calico and Akamu, yet, bro?"
He still needed to officially introduce them to the pack, instead of leaving it to chance that the others would just bump into them and all would be dandy. Just another thing for Hige to adjust to, he doubted if Loki would've had any trouble remembering this type of thing, Hige was just so easy going that he usually didn't worry about it. Whenever Devvyl or one of the others had a new addition to the pack it was always just a simple matter of meeting them and seeing if they got along.

Thayne could hear the concern in his brother's voice. It made him smile a little to listen to it, knowing it was for Tatiana and seeing it for the part of a good father Hige would come to be, once some pups came on the scene. "She'll be a'ight, Hige. Big lass now an' all, y'know?"
Calico and Akamu? The names didn't ring any bells. "Can' say as I 'ave met 'em," he mused, looking out at the ocean absently. He scratched his side, trying to remember if he had met any unfamiliar wolves as of late, but the only one he could think of was that black-and-white female, Sashta... He wondered briefly where she had ended up. They'd parted ways after a brief meet just outside the borders and he hadn't seen her since.
As it was, he knew he shouldn't have been surprised to hear Hige speak of other wolves added to the pack, but somehow he was. It seemed he'd gotten used to the pack's small size, which wasn't necessarily a good thing. Pack growth was a good thing, and despite his surprise, he welcomed news of it.
A new scent came to him on the wind and he perked his ears, looking to Hige. "Tha' either o' them I smell?"
