"No, the woman I spoke with was very nice," he took a bite of his bun and drank some water. "She showed me right where everything was, and was very cordial about it." He wanted to talk about her cuts, but decided in the middle of the dining hall was a bad place to do it. He liked his personal business kept personal, so he was always discrete with ours as well. "You have nothing to worry about Lady Tasuki." He smiled at her warmly... "Just be careful with your arm, and you should have Nuriko put some medicine on it when Chiriko gets back. Just to be safe..."

Mika smiled, nodding. "That's good." She was pretty sure that it must have been Michiko. Michiko was the only cook that actually liked her, as it were. Lin and Taki were both... a bit standoffish. Particularly Taki, but Mika didn't want to get into that thought process at the moment. "I'll be as careful with it as I can. Though, knowing me that won't be horribly careful at all." She laughed a little bit, trying to make light of the situation.

Sun Li laughed a bit, "Right, well I guess I'm just going to have to watch after you and the priestess. I have to make sure you don't over use your arm, and that the priestess remains safe." He smiled, surprisingly happy to have a purpose again.

Mika chuckled again, doing something rather playful. She stuck her tongue out at Tamahome. It had been a while until she had actually be able to joke around and smile. She was the second in command, and for now technically boss. She didn't have the time to be playful and joking. "Don't worry, for now, I'll take it easy. Can't say how long that will last, but atleast until after dinner." Once Hotohori shows up though... I can't really say that. We still have to spar to see who is the boss...

Chiriko concentrated and managed to focus in on their weak ki. He hurried to them, thinking something must have happened, but when he got on the scene he was quite puzzled. "Your Highness, what is going on?"
Riku looked up, his confused expression turned to hopefullness. "Wonderful! You found us! We found this man injured, and Nuriko went to heal him, but the strain was too much and she fainted. She used too much of her ki. He made this somehow," indicating the cart, "But I can't figure out how to pull it. Anyway, how far are we from the camp?"
"Not far actually, just far enough to not hear it in the forest. Come on, we can carry them back, it's not too far." He picked up Nuriko and started for the bandits hide out.
Riku frowned and picked up the man, walking behind Chiriko. He put the man over his uninjured shoulder and headed toward the building.

((Skipping ahead a bit . . .))
Nuriko came to slowly. She stirred and mumbled inaudibly, then sat up, wincing. She felt stiff, her throat was dry, and her head span. Inwardly she nodded in approval. Usual symptoms of overuse of her "ki", though it now cut out the nausea and occasional vomiting if she'd gone too overboard.
Rubbing sleep out of her eyes, she looked at her surroundings, expecting to be somewhere in the rocky mountains. She was mildly surprised to be in a building, though she didn't really know where she was exactly.
"How long was I out?" she asked. She didn't assume there'd be an answer, but she asked anyway.

"About three hours," came a soft and cultured voice. He got up out of the chair in the corner and smiled a bit. "I stayed in case there was a problem. Are you feeling alright?" He brough over some water for her, "I was told to tell you Chiriko made this... he made a point of making me promise to tell you." He handed her the cup.

She smiled softly in return as she took the water.
"Thank you," she said, and sipped from it. "I'm fine. Three hours, right?" She chuckled dryly. "Well, it's good to know I'm improving. I'm assuming Chiriko found us?"

"Yes, as much as I hate to admit it. He carried you back, leaving me with that guy we found." He pulled the tie out of his hair, so his waist length hair fell loose. "Well I'm glad you are alright, I was worried." He smiled, but he seemed tired. "I know it seems strange for me to be so worried about you..." well I don't even understand it myself...

She shook her head, her long hair falling down her back in a purple cascade.
"No, it's perfectly alright," she replied. "We're . . . well, I wouldn't say companions, it sounds too cold . . . close friends, aren't we? I worry about you, you worry about me." She shrugged. "I don't know what you're thinking right now, but I'm glad to see you're alright as well. How is your shoulder?"

"It's alright, feeling better really." He smiled softly, "Tamahome says we should head to the Capital soon. Unfortunately things will change a bit when we get there. I'll have to go back to being the Prince of Konan, not just the Prince of Suzaku."

She nodded, but looked down.
"I understand," she said softly. She looked up and smiled, a little sadly. "But I'm sure I'll like you, either way."
She looked down again, fiddling with the covers. She bit her lower lip and frowned slightly.
Back to there, then . . .

Riku came over and knelt beside the bed. "Nuriko, I'll always be kind to you, I just will have offical duties as well as my duties to the Priestess. You all will be staying in the Palace, I'm sure... there is nothing to look sad over. The only other difference is I have to wear all those clothes, and the strange hat." He made the shape on top of his head, "and all my hair never fits in it." He grinned at her, "So I'll just be busier, that all."

She shook her head.
"No, I understand completely. I'm not sad about the fact that you'll be taking on more duties again." She smiled slightly when he mentioned the hat. Then she looked down at the covers again. "It's . . . personal issues . . ."

"Oh, I see, you don't want to go to the Capital then." He nodded, keeping his disappointment carefully concealed. "Well perhaps you can stay here and wait for Hotohori to come back." After what she said to Chiriko, and just now, I guess I should just give up. I don't know why I felt so drawn to her, it's probably not her to begin with. I've been reading too much history. "I'm sure the Priestess wouldn't want you to feel uncomfortable. She seems like a very nice girl."
After he'd rescued everyone, Chiriko retired to his room. Saving people made him tired, then the whole thing with Nuriko just bummed him out too. She seemed so angry with him, and he just wanted to be her friend. He hadn't had anyone he could be close to, so it really saddened him to think he'd made her mad at him. Alone in his room he silently cried in his pillow, that release would make him able to smile and laugh the next morning.
