The picture with the cherries reminds me of my great-grandma... the coke-bottle glasses help.
When I was really young, probably 1-2 years old, I fed the poor woman a ton of olives. I thought they were grapes. sweatdrop Why didn't anybody tell me then instead of wait until I was older and laugh about it? D=

Thanks everyone. :3 heart
@Jenny - Hmm... The pictures look like they were taken on grandma's birthday (because of the cake) so that means I was 5, and Cy was 1. That also means I lied - Rad would've been a few months old by then. My parents have like, a whole library of photo albums. Being the oldest, my infancy was the most documented. xD
@Py - Wow! You knew your great-grandma? That's really special.
@Yst - Close, they're normal cherries! And yeah, Cy is the younger one.
@Aeo - It's okay. I get teary too. I love and miss her very much, and I know that you miss your grandmother dearly as well. <3
@154 - Man, I got upset the other day and deleted like 50 pictures of myself. But fear not, I'll rebound with enough pictures for a wedding album. x____x

Well... technically, I still know her. She's 98. But her health has been going downhill for the last couple of years...

Lady Pyre Well... technically, I still know her. She's 98. But her health has been going downhill for the last couple of years... Wow, that's awesome that you get to know her (and that she's 98!) My grandma's health was like that too. Just 4 years ago she was walking around my house and gardening and making herself tea, and then she fell and broke her hip... Since then, her health rapidly declined. Slowly she lost the ability to walk, then to support herself standing, then the ability to feed herself, to speak coherently, and finally in the days before she passed away, it took too much strength for her to even swallow. It's really frightening. For years, every time she wound up in the hospital we'd ask ourselves, "Is this the end?" But she always recovered. So when she wound up in the hospital last week, we all told ourselves, "Grandma is strong, she'll recover like always." But she chose to let go and finally end her suffering. And in all honestly she went in a very good way: peacefully, with her children by her side.

Your grandma sounds so much like my Gi-Gi. When I was 5, she was hit by a car. Everybody thought that was the end. But she's such a fighter, she's still here.
I hope her body has the good sense to let go before it gets that bad. I know my mom and grandma aren't going to know what to do when she dies. Dear God... my grandma is 68 and has lived with her all her life. But I think watching her like this is a lot worse. She's very weak - needs help walking most of the time. And she's starting to get things mixed up - like, she thinks they still live in the house they lived in 20 years ago...
We've had to put her in a rest home twice, and I thought that was it each time. And it took the rest of my family months to catch on that her mind isn't what it used to be. They just don't want to see it.
I don't visit her as often as I should because I don't like seeing her like that. Feel kinda guilty. But then when I do go see her or call her, she either seems to forget I'm there, asks for my mom, or insults me. Well, she always had a mean streak but now... damn.

Yeah. I don't think my grandma recognized me when I visited her in the hospital last week. It's heartbreaking, because she remembered me just a few weeks ago. :[
We put my grandma in a care home for about a week last year, then decided we hated it because the seniors didn't receive enough personal attention. So my mom and her siblings bought the adjustable bed and oxygen machine and everything, and let my grandma stay at home. (She was much happier, and I'm pretty sure that added another year to her lifespan.)
I think my grandma was lucky that her children were willing to take care of her, in a way that most nurses and doctors don't have the time or patience for.
She left at a good time, really. One step further and it would've been the feeding tube, and that's when you're basically a vegetable.

I looked pretty normal (but quite happy) the one time I've been intoxicated, only... where the hell WERE we? In comparison, this is me sober.
