"N-nag them? So that's what I'm doing is it? I'm concerned for your wellbeing and it's nagging?!" Jess's expression changed to an extremely cold one, one that she hadn't had since before she had gotten pregnant. "Well excuse me, but I'm not the one who wanted to keep this baby, I'm not the one who wanted to get married! But you know what? I can undo it!" She grabbed at her finger, pulling off her wedding ring, and threw it at his face. "There you go. Have fun now and work as long as you want! You're free!" Jess shoved him aside, storming downstairs and rushing out the front door as fast as her pregnant body would let her.

"Merlin," growled Peter, setting the ring on a side table and storming into his room, throwing open the window and tossing Darts out of it.
Evelyn, who had been listening to their argument stood up quickly from her seat and hurried after Jess. "Talk to Peter!" she called after her, not even bothering to shut the front door and finally catching up with Jess. "Jess, dear, come now. Think."

Michael nodded, following Peter upstairs and shutting the door. "Peter..." He sighed. "Peter take a seat." He motioned to the bed and eyed him purposefully.
"No!" Jess moved away from her mother in law, crossing her arms over her chest as she kept moving. "He's giving me indigestion over all this. I can't deal with it anymore. It's not my fault he hates me. I told him we should get rid of the bloody thing, but noooo, he wanted this baby, he wanted to get married. Well now that he's going back on his word, then I don't see why I shouldn't appease him."

Peter scowled, but he complied. "I'm still hungry," he grumbled, shooting his father a look.
Evelyn sighed. "He doesn't know what he wants. He's worried, that's all. Certainly, he's frustrated, but..." She reached out and took Jess's hand to slow her down. "But he will come to his senses. He's just a boy. And now he has to grow up and be a father in three weeks. That can't be easy on anybody."

"Good for you." Michael sighed, looking rather disappointed at his son as he sat next to him. "What's going on with you? I've never seen you like this before. Especially not towards Jessica."
"Well I had to grow up and be a mother. And that's what I'm trying to do!" Jess shook her hand away and sniffled back a few tears that began rolling down her cheeks. "If he isn't going to be a supportive husband or father then I'm going to do what's best for me and the baby and leave!" She started sobbing, refusing to turn back even though she heard a crack of thunder in the near distance.

Peter swallowed. "I know. I mean, I don't. I mean, I know that I'm being a regular p***k, but I don't know why. And I can't even be rational around her. I don't know why." He couldn't keep up his harshly aloof expression, and he let himself look scared for the first time. "Dad, I think I might hate them. Jess and Gwen. And I don't want that. I don't want to hate them."
Evelyn took Jess into a hug and kissed the side of her head. "This is what I mean about thinking," she said gently. "Do you really think you'll be better off out in the rain, on the streets, than in our home? Your parents won't take you back, that's guaranteed. And we would sooner throw out Peter than you," she added.

Michael sighed, throwing his arm around his son's shoulder. "You don't hate them, Peter. If you hated them, you wouldn't care if you hated them or not. If you hated them, you would never have married Jessica and you wouldn't be working hard to be able to provide for them after Gwen is born." He patted the boy on the shoulder, glancing at an old photo that was on the nightstand. Peter was riding his broom for the first time and kept rolling off, but he was happy every time he stood back up. "You're just worried. You're scared that you won't be able to be the father I know you can be. That you can't be the husband Jess knows you can be. That you can't be the man you know you can be. And all of that is scary. Trust me, I know." He gave a small smile to his son, trying to get him to calm down as best he could.
Jess shook her head, feeling a droplet on the back of her head as she leaned into Evelyn's shoulder. "I can't be around him. He hates me, I know he does." She sobbed on the woman, throwing her arms around her neck as the rain started up. "I don't want to go back. My stomach hurts and I don't feel good and it will just make him angrier. I don't want to go back..."

OOC: What an inspirational picture.
Peter was slightly comforted, but he picked at a loose thread in his comforter uselessly. "And it's not even as though I've got time," he continued relentlessly, "Because Gwen's going to be born in three weeks, and I can't...I can't do all of that in three weeks. I don't even know if I can do it in three years."
"Jess, you know that he doesn't hate you," Evelyn told her daughter-in-law, looking up and scanning the skies. "Come into the house again. You don't need to talk to Peter, alright? Just come in out of the rain."

((its a 7th Heaven minute))
Michael frowned, but soon thought of an idea and picked up the photo on the nightstand. "Peter, do you remember this picture? Remember how old you were?"
Jess shook her head. "I deserve to get soaked. I'm a terrible person and I deserve to be punished." She released herself from Evelyn's grasp and walked away slowly, going down the street to a bus stop bench and sitting down, shivering from the cold rain and rubbing at her stomach to calm the baby down.

OOC: Yepyep.
Peter blinked. "No. Seven?" he guessed, not seeing the point of all this.
Evelyn sighed. "That's not true." She sat down next to Jess. "What on earth have you done?"

"Seven or eight I think. That broom was your Christmas present, remember?" Michael smiled fondly, watching a much younger version of him helping Peter back onto his broomstick. "Your mother and I had you for seven years and we were still terrified." He chuckled. "I can't tell you how much I had to argue with Mum before she would let me get you that broom. Kept saying it was too scary and dangerous for you, and after seeing you fall so many times, I was starting to agree. But look at me in that picture. Am I smiling or frowning?"
"I've been terrible." Jess shook her head as she sobbed, tucking her damp hair behind her hair. "I've been a cold girlfriend, and a terrible mother. And...and I nag Peter all the time. He hates me and I can't do it to him anymore."

"Smiling..." answered Peter slowly, reluctantly understanding. "But I don't want to fall this time. I can't. Not if I've got...a baby."
Evelyn sighed. "Oh, you can't possibly let him convince you that you're nagging. He's being unreasonable. You're not nagging, you're being concerned for him." She looked significantly at the large, protruding ball that was Jess's stomach. "And you'll be a better mother if you get inside."

"Peter, let me tell you something." Michael took the picture back and set it in its place. "There will be times when you think you've fallen, or you think you've failed or you've let Gwen down. But you have to remember that she's going to love you no matter what. Remember we lost you in Diagon Alley the first time we went shopping for Hogwarts robes? You cried for hours until we finally found you. And Mum and I were so ashamed of ourselves, we thought you would never forgive us. But you did, didn't you?"
Jess ran her fingers down the front of her stomach, sighing. "I know...I just, I don't want to upset him anymore." She pushed herself up, sinking into the softened ground. "I already feel awful for leaving, I don't know how to just walk back in there as if nothing happened."

Peter nodded. "That's...well, it's a lot to remember, isn't it?" he asked weakly. He stood up now, though, and started pacing to the door and back. "But, Merlin, what do I do about Jess? I've just chased her out of the house!" And with that rather frightening realization, he bolted out of his room and through the front door, where he spotted rather distantly Jess with his mother. Thank heavens for his mother.
Evelyn looked up and smiled slightly. "You know, I don't think you'll have to."

Jess glanced up, still crying a little, though her tears hopefully blended in with the raindrops. She saw a figure in the doorway which she automatically recognized, stopping in her tracks to look back at Mrs. Keyes. "What do I say?"
