He resisted the erdge to scream as the sudden bright light blinded him. HE closed his eyes shut. Although he could stand the sunlight, it still hurt his eyes, so this bright flashlight had really blinded him.
"s**t..." He opened his eyes and they watered but he could see nothing. "I really can't see anything....So I guess...lead the way?"

Kat felt bright light and tried to squirm away but she still had no movement. She could smell something familiar in the person holding her...her brother. She remembered back in the orphanage when he would always be with her all the times she was in the inmirmary.

Aurora moved her hand in front of his eyes. The pupils didn't follow. She faked slapping him. He didn't flinch.

"Alright... well," she took his hand (which for some reason created a tingly sensation in the back of her brain she had no time to concentrate on) and led him over to the end of the bridge, so that his front foot would be on the edge of it.

"Stay here a moment..." Aurora walked off around to the other side. "Alright, are you ready? Carefully put one foot forward."

((Oh! I forgot to mention that this bridge is squiggly. it's not a straight board at all... I'm going to fix that in the earlier post.))

Jonas gingerly put a foot on the board, clutching Kat tighter and tighter. He would not let anything happen to her. "Ok." He took another gingerly step and kept his balance. He slowly made his way about half way across the bridge with Aurora's help when one of his feet slipped. He quickly caught himself and made sure Kat was safely in his arms. He wasn't enjoying this the least bit.

Aurora had started to leap forward when he slipped.

"Oh... good. You caught yourself. Ok... yeah, you're at a turn here... just shuffle backwards a little bit. It goes for about two feet. Slowly, slowly, that's it. Just a little further Jonas. Stop! Good... now to your right again. It goes only five inches so just set one foot next to the other. Yeah, that's good..." She continued to give him instructions acrossed the bridge. It was slow, and notoriously painful, but neccessary.

Jonas's sight was starting to come back right as he reached the safety of the grass. He let out a very releived sigh and hugged Kat. He glanced over at Curtis and something about his face tugged at Jonas. "Aurora, if we are done with Kitties part for the evening, can I let him take her back?"

"Just set her down... my cat had to wait through your walk. Your Kat can wait through mine." She picked up her cat and then paused.

"...Well, no she does have to stay. With her and Curtis around you wouldn't dare attack me."

She held out a thick black ribbon. "Sadly the flashlight won't work as well on me as it does you, so this will have to do."

Jonas almost snapped at her but held his tounge. HE refused to set Kat down in case of a trap. "Ok," He waited for her to put the blindfold on, "Take a small step onto the board, ok good. Now small steps forward, be careful it turns left now, small steps, now slightly to your right...ok good. Now forwards slightly..."

Aurora followed along carefully. In truth, she had already memorized the first half of this walk, she only needed to know half... the trade off was going to be very difficult though... She hadn't planned for a seperate perspective on this, and that was why she had made Curits swear to say nothing. She counted the steps as she got closer and closer to the critical point. Everything depended on that moment...

Curtis' heart sank and his temper rose when it was decided that he could not take Katra back. All the same he waited, as he had vowed to. He was far more at ease now, however, as Katra's personal danger had passed. It was not that he wanted Aurora to die, but being a werecat it was unlikely that she was in any form of danger. As it felt like he had been doing for hours, Curtis continued to wait.

Jonas's heart spead up from its sluggish pace to almost normal for a humans. "You're almost there. Just a little bit to the left, now forward....a little bit more to the left...almost there..."

Aurora was a step away from the critical point. She tensed as she stepped.

Then three things happened all at once. Firstly, she overstepped to the side and "lost" her balance. Secondly, she screamed and threw her cat towards Jonas (specifically his face) for safety. And thirdly, she pulled and old and not-well known magician's trick that involved a couple of wires and a hidden dummy. After she was sure that he would be focused on the object hurtling towards him, she jumped up. If she had the velocity just right, she would land safely up in the tree, while the dummy met it's end exactly when she was supposed to according to the laws of physics.

Aurora caught hold of the branch she had picked out earlier, a sturdy thing that didn't even rustle when she held it. Then she focused on stopping her heart. She needed to not breath or let it beat for the next few minutes or Jonas would know of her ploy. She could do this because of the VDNA... but it still was a risky move. Aurora had no idea how long she could actually go without killing herself... but she knew she had at least 5 minutes.

Below her the dummy was speared on the wood and as the blood drained out everywhere she looked up above at her stopwatch. Yes, the timing had been about right. Maybe off a milionth of a second, but the vampire wouldn't notice. She just hoped that the blood and guts she had to stuff the dummy with were convincing enough... it hadn't been fun tracking down all of those organs and finding a way to keep everything warm without letting it smell to high-heaven.

She looked back down just as quickly and focused on not making a sound. It all relied on Jonas' response now.

Jonas, with teh speed only a vampire could have, set Kat down and used all his will to speed towards the garlic infested cat. He had to step onto the board to grab the cat away from certain death. He held it close to him as he quickly stepped off the board, which now didn't hold him and snapped. He barely made it to safety with the foul smelling cat in his arms. The garlic that oozed from the cat was already starting to leave burning marks on his skin, but he still didn't let the cat go.

"Aurora!" He called and took a step to the edge of the pit and looked down. "Oh...my...god...no, Aurora...no!" He had to get to her, but he was affraid of just leaving the cat by itself. It might try to jump in after Aurora. He quickly looked around and remembered Curtis. He shaved the cat at him and then jumped back to the pit. His arms and chest were now covered in third degree burns but he didn't feel them. Instead he focused on hovering and started climbing down the pit. With his slight skills at hovering kept him from impaling himself he made it down quickly, without a scratch. He reached the body and tried to feel for a pulse but he quickly realized it wasn't Aurora's body at all, it was a dummy.

"What the hell?..."

Luka released Connor, gasping for breath. She burried her face in his neck and inhaled deeply. "Damn, you smell amazing." She twirled his hair around her finger. "Thank god your first full moon is close." She inhaled again and let it out in a slow sigh.

Yakov grabbed Jeff's jacket with both hands and pressed himself close and put on a rather flamboyant voice. "You're so demanding when it comes to my a**. So forceful."

Jeff again rolled his eyes and shrugged Yakov off. "Come on, if I'm late the boys will kill me, and I don't think you want to resort to necrophillia." Jeff made his way down to the car and gently set his guitar in the back seat.

"For you it would be worth it. Although, really, the only difference you would be that I couldn't make fun of you for lying there and taking it." Yakov followed Jeff down to the car and sat himself in the front seat.
