in your room there is the spot that the light touchs ans therefore, no matter how much light is present, is no longer dark even if the light is weak.
and there are places that there is no light so are completely dark
it is physically impossible to have light in darkness because the darkness is no longer dark
if you go to the films and comics, yoda- the strongest light side force user is unable you see certain things in the force because of the dark sides presence.
exur kun becomes blinded to the light side of the force because of his quest of power from the darkside
read about the saber combat styles and there is an example of the dark side and light side counter acting one another. in the juyo/yaapad style of fighting- you feed off your emotoins and that leads to the darkside. of the three people who are recorded using this style only one does not turn to the dark side- mace windu and that is because of his mastery and concentration on the light side

The light side and dark side are kinda messed up in that sense. Jedi portrayed as good, Sith as bad. Yet the Jedi are not supposed to be emotional. Though many are. Sith are not supposed to be cold. Though many are.
Neutrality can be reached. Jedi and Sith balance each other out. Shadow Jedi do this within themselves. They need no counter part to oppose them.
