Hey, I'm a uni student. I'm interested in philosophy (duh), specifically materialism and free will. If anything, I'm a compatable determinist.

Next term I'm taking some cool classes:
- Philosphy of Law
- Philosophy of Feminism
- Ethics, Genetics and Reproduction (It's at the Gender Studies college, so I'll expect alot of Singer bashing)

Welcome!

It sounds like you have an interesting batch of classes next semester!

Hello! My name is Joanna, my nickname is Raticiel. I'm a very old woman with 21 springs experienced. I live in a beautiful country, Poland. I live in the woods with my family and my two dogs and four cats. I study philosophy and culture in University of Szczecin (I bet nobody heard of it), I'm on my 2nd year. I'm interested with many things, my real dream is to become a cartoonist. Studying philosophy is something great. I'm learning, I'm meeting many different points of view and I'm trying to find my way in it. I have some favourite philosophers, such as Descartes, Nietzsche, Rousseau, Kant, Spinoza, Freud, Bacon, David Lewis, a great mind of my nation, Kolakowski... I generally like it when someone thinks clear and it can be compared with my own thoughts. Yet, I guess I need to study more blaugh
I also like to listen good music, cook, read, watch some good movies, manga/anime, japanese role-playing games, spend time with animals, swimming, having some fun from time to time wink
I hope it will be fun here biggrin

Ok, introduction time -

I'm The Almighty Bobbu, otherwise known as Matthew Rainford, and I'm a philosopher. And an artists, a writer, poet, webdesigner and webmaster. And human too.

I run a site called A Place In Between, which aims to showcase, feature and promote any form of creativity that conveys philosophical meaning. I spend my life on the site, and it's forum, spreading the word that philosophy has true relevance to real life.

I'm engaged to a wonderful girl called Helen, who I adore with all my heart. She makes everything worth doing. I'm a gap year student who's going on to study philosophy and theology next year at university, but right now I'm having a great time just finishing off art projects, running my site, reading my poetry all over Liverpool, and painting murals on rock club walls for money.

Okay, here we go.

My name is Olivia, I'm 18 and a senior in high school. I enjoy studying philosophers and different philosophies.

I'm a fan of Aristotle, and a fan of Ayn Rand.

Other than philosophy, I like kitties, I like to cook, make costumes, and play video games. 83

Good morrow. Tis a pleasure to meet all you fine folk. My name is Marc. I tend to lean heavily toward religious philosophy & metaphysics. Though I do have some strong opinions in political philosophy. On that score I am a Libertarian & no that does not mean liberal. More on that as it comes up. I am finally heading back to school, so a lot of my posts (when I have time for it) will lean toward what I am working on at that moment. Sometimes I feel that I am older then dirt (we greww everything hydroponically back then ofcourse. lol)

As I have often said... I am a bit of a ham, somewhat cheesy, with a rye sense of humor (now why do I suddenly want a sandwich?)

Yes, I am Andrew, but every once in a while I am called 'shiny'. Those that speak Japanese and look carefully at my handle will get it.

On that note, I am a second year student of Japanese, though I am above most of my class. I love religious and spiritual philosophy, and that's one reason I chose the language is Japan's mix of Shinto, Buddhism, and just about any other religion. Politically, I am a Libertarian, though slightly to the left. I don't read many ancient philosophers, but I am more than willing to learn, but I am a huge Rand and R.A.H. fan. I love that sixties philosophy. I am an actor and a dabbler in writing. I am a fifteen-year-old sophomore (in high school, obviously) from Fort Worth, student in Paschal High School. I could go on, but I won't.

Welcome Andrew and Marc!

I hope you both enjoy this Guild and help revive it from the death sleep it tends to go under every now and then. biggrin

Hi, I'm Reuben. I'm 24, a college dropout, and unemployed (which is how I like it). I have a lot of cerebral interests, check my profile to see the extensive list. I've been into philosophy and "deep thinking" as long as I can remember. When I was about nine years old I asked my father, "What if I'm the only real person and everybody else is just a robot?" He didn't really know how to respond to that one. I guess I've always thought about things on a different level than many people do. I look forward to discussing those deep thoughts with the rest of you!

I like to be called Herumouni or simply Heru. I'm 16, looking for a job, and in 10th grade...I think. I'm homeschooled so we end up losing track. I've just gotten into philosophy so I can get a little bit of a background for theology. I like reading about science, mainly astronomy and physics, especially SuperString Theory for some reason. I love learning foreign languages and am currently studying Japanese and Latin.

My name is Michelle. I'm 16, 11th grade. My dream is to major in philosophy, however I'm somewhat new to it. I do not have extensive experience, and I may ask questions (but that's the point, now, isn't it?) I'm here to learn and share my ideas.

My inspiration is an old friend of mine who majored in philosophy himself, passing with an A on the final. The statement he had to respond to was,
"Prove this desk is not real."

All he wrote was, "What desk?"
