 Kalrael Lekira
Renegade, abomination, traitor. In the end, these are merely words.
Kalrael raised an eyebrow, merely curious at the entire spectacle. Still he could take a guess at what Isobel was after - or at the very least what he wanted her to be after, and subsequently moved over to her with a small grin.
-------------------------------------------------------
Ilyia formed several paces away from the door, panting and very nearly sweating small silver beads of near-manifested sweat. She looked over to Ptolemy and sighed, unable to rightly gain her bearings from all that had happened lately. "One question, Ptolemy..." she panted, "What happens when we have to make our way back?"
I am what I choose to be; I have chosen my path of shadow.

Its a wonder she didn't lock me in a mirror, or a bottle. Utterly classless." Ptolemy said under his breath, having not noticed Ilyia yet. His dark eyes absorbed the dim room around them, falling upon the cathedral they found themselves in. He issued onto his lips a wry smile. "How befitting. From Hell to Holy Worship." He said, before turning to Ilyia, raising an eyebrow.
"Going back? I have no intention of going back." He said simply. His plan was simple. Grab whatever he needed to retrieve, poof, hand off to master, be released, and BAM. Home for the holidays...or something like that at least.
Looking around the room again, the only thing that troubled the djinni was the presence of a stone sphinx blocking their exit; the door behind the ivory clothed altar.

 Ilyia Nerian
Witness to the cruelest fate believed to exist, I have stood my ground with the same tenacity.
Ilyia pondered her options for a brief moment, realizing she had her own rather simple means of escape and yet still no honest sign of whether or not she'd be able to take anything back. Still, an easy solution resolved itself in her mind, and she took a step ahead of Ptolemy while turning to face him. "Look, we're after the same thing, I'm guessing for different purposes. Your master wants it, I'm guessing but that leaves one thing... what would he or she do with it, once it was attained? Just... just answer me that. It might make both our lives a lot easier."
Begone, O foul hand of corruption. My choices are my own to make now.

"You don't understand do you? I have no care what she does with it. Humans concern me none, therefore I know nothing about it." He said, narrowing his eyes and stepping around Ilyia, inspecting the sphinx. He suspected that it was the key to the locked door behind it. He grinned. If there was another being that the djinni would spend pleasurable time with, it would be a sphinx. Their rhyming got annoying at times but the riddles shared and knowledge uncovered was worth it.

Ilyia sighed and shook her head in dismay. "All of a sudden I wonder why in the world I stuck my neck out for you. You have no sense of gratitude, honor... loyalty, even. Seems more than a little empty a life to live. Remind me to let you rot with an imp next time; it'll do you justice with the added benefit of me not getting myself killed in the process." She made her way to the wall, muttering a couple more phrases along the "lousy ingrate" tangent before looking over to the sphinx and the door beyond it. Her patience had come to a perfect nothing for this man, and she was almost eager now to show it.
Begone, O foul hand of corruption. My choices are my own to make now.

Ptolemy snapped bitterly, glaring at Ilyia. "Because a woman who knows nothing of power believes that she can control someone who has tenfold the power she has without them. What's worse is that she can, because some idiot decided that the Realms of Power should be harnessed to fulfill their own ends. My past, my present, my future, it all is not kind to say the least. I hope for others' mistakes so that I can be free. So no, I have no loyalty." His glare lingered on Ilyia for several more moments before he turned his gaze back to the sphinx and set himself upon figuring out how to release it.

 Ilyia Nerian

"That changes nothing!" Ilyia shouted, kicking herself from the wall. "I can't help what goes on to make your living as circumstantially miserable as it is, but I for one would know well enough that a miserable life is at the very least, a life, or would you rather I'd have left you to die?" She paused for a second, catching on to her own line of logic and realizing all the same it was getting her nowhere, if not less than. She dropped back against the wall and sighed. "Look, I don't pretend to know what you have to deal with, but I do know it can't be worth what we both just went through. Obligations, I can understand. I'm certainly no fan of the prospects of being dragged into and out of a certain fate. There's no way around the binding?"

Ptolemy said under his breath. "And yes in fact, I would have preferred it by far. At least then in non-existence I know that I would not have to do things undictaded by my will. There is no way around the binding, unless of course you would want to kill my mast-ah!" Ptolemy cringed as a crackle of red sparks cascaded about him. "Damn forbidden damned words." The djinni dusted himself off, still wincing at the pain that he had endured while the reprimands of explicit bindings. "And it is far more than obligations. You seem to have very little concept of how bound I am here." Ptolemy said, realizing that Ilyia must have very little exposure to his situation. "If my master said explicitly to jump into a vat of boiling silver, I would have no choice but to obey, even if it meant my death. If I were charged with slaying all of the Holy Order of Angels, I could make no actionary objection. So yes, it is far worse than any demon, for those things are not permanent. I would rather be stuck in Hell than live another moment under a foolish magician's charge. Do I make myself clear?" Ptolemy's voice was level and nonchalant the entire time, as if he were speaking about the weather, but laid beneath it was countless levels of pain and anger. "I am fateless, I have no set path, I am a tool, no more than your sword that serves you. I have no side. I have killed others of my kind because I had to. Nothing more, nothing less." The djinni turned from her then and knocked on the sphinx 6 times to no avail. "Damn you." He growled.

 Lyrandis Desrani
Forever I live in the shadow of the Lone Peacemaker.
A small rift appeared in the room for the exact time it took for a blue-haired young man to step through it and close it behind him. He took a brief moment to measure his surroundings before settling his eyes on Ptolemy, and then to Ilyia. Her eyes widened slightly, but he stepped to her anyway. "Ilyia Nerian?" She nodded, "You've been summoned in Silverlight. Called home, if you will."
"W-what?" Ilyia stepped forward from the wall. "Who are you?"
The male took a half-step back, his torso falling with his arms trailing off to his sides, as though customary to some other race. Ilyia's eyes widened further. "Lyrandis Desrani. Now, please go back. She's worried for you, as I'm sure you know by now." Ilyia vanished immediately in a mist of silver. The man turned to Ptolemy. "Apologies for the interruption, but I have my business here as well..." He looked to the door the others had passed through. "Farewell."
With that he stepped through, closing it loudly enough to garner Isobel's attention.
His war has become as my own; His legacy will not go unfinished.

Isobel's nails dug deep into Kalrael's shoulders as she clung to him, tongue tracing his neck. Her eyes lifted as she heard someone enter and she giggled, putting space between her body and the body of the vampire's as she looked over his shoulder, propping her chin on it and retracting her claws. "And now who are you? Here to take my Kalrael away from me?" She asked, tilting her head so it was parallel to Kalrael's shoulder, and she traced bloody circles on his other shoulder. "That wouldn't be nice dearie." She said breathily.

 Lyrandis Desrani
Forever I live in the shadow of the Lone Peacemaker.
As cold and calculating as ever, the man looked about without any real satisfaction for the situation at hand. Nothing in the environment to utilize as a safe cover, no particular guarantee any plan could be made, and at the same time, no particular need to plan. All the same his eyes fell to the woman, and immediately to Kalrael with a flicker of recognition and a roll of his eyes to indicate the sense of irony that flooded him for the moment. "Oh, make no mistake... I doubt Kalrael would have suffered any less if he hadn't been given to the position he has now, but that leaves very little to question."
He stepped forward, his hand reaching for a single-handed handle lodged at his side, though it had no extension of reach whatsoever to its name. He removed the handle and shrugged at the thought of introductions. "I'm not in the habit of introducing myself to creatures of the dark without some manner of assurance that the gesture will not go unreturned, so I ask you quite simply; why not introduce yourself first, make yourself known a little less personally than you are to a renegade?"

Isobel giggled and bit Kalrael's earlobe gently, tugging on it with her front teeth. "Isobel Mierien." She purred, stroking the back of the vampire's neck. "How about this then. You introduce yourself and then you leave. I was hardly done yet." She said, widening her eyes as she smiled. She curled herself around Kalrael protectively and smiled sweetly at the newcomer. Her eyes glistened with anticipation.

"With all due and undue respect, Isobel, I would have to decline your offer." Lyrandis said with another step, "My name is Lyrandis Desrani, which if you've heard of me should in itself explain why I'm here. I imagine by the next hour, at least one of us will have died, but I'm not beyond negotiation. You could simply surrender Kalrael and step out yourself, and the both of us would be able to leave this behind us.."
His thought was interrupted by the shadowformed image of Kalrael kicking up to his feet with a step to the Godling and a thin blade in his hand, already tipped at Lyrandis' throat. "Or you could die." He said menacingly, without a care in the world. "The difference is, you don't have a choice."
Lyrandis closed his eyes for a brief moment as he stepped back to the wall. "I really would rather not die, thank you. But, eventually I'll pay that price, just not today." His eyes snapped open with an upwards passive glare to Isobel. "So, it seems the terms are already laid out. I stand ready."

"Isn't he a dear?" Isobel breathed, standing and hanging on Kalrael, her arms circling around to the front of his neck while she propped her chin on his shoulder. Her fan was open on his chest and she tapped the flat of it on the vampire a few times with a grin. "If you wanted to play a game, then you should have just said so instead of that silly negotiation business. You knew I would hand over my Kalrael to someone I am not even too sure I like at this moment."

"Game?" Lyrandis chuckled, "This is no game, Isobel. War, is not a game. However, I'm a negotiator, not entirely above being sensible... Leave his own desires to himself; I doubt he would betray you anyway. My business is with you, for the time being. And you alone, but I don't have a whole lot of choice there, do I?"
He tilted his head indicatively towards Kalrael, "Now, I propose a challenge of sorts. My life against yours, with only him between us. A duel to the death, or at least until ample surrender. What say you?"
