Riyo's expression went blank when Deacon conveyed a little snippet of news she'd somehow managed to avoid up to this point.

Riley was... Dead? that's it. Just... Dead?

It made sense, of course. Why everyone had been so sad coming back. Part of her felt stupid for not realizing that a large part of the school life in Amityville was just... gone.

"Deacon... How?" She asked softly, eyes retreating to the ground. She knew Riley. She had met Riley and never had any qualms with Riley... But her concern wasn't over the mindflayer. It was if the same thing could happen to her or the people she cared about.

West felt a tug on his arm and then Levi was off, waving and frolicking and spinning with that weird ghoul he recognized from the horseman isles and the hot springs. He tilted his head curiously at the pair as the song changed, then looked back at Ev.

"I... have," he said slowly, mulling over exactly how to put this. "I've danced. I even liked it some. Not a lot." The only time he'd really had fun at it was when Yaya had kept him distracted while leading him through some frou-frou mess. He might have liked it better if he wasn't sure he looked like a spastic a*****e while he was doing it in the first place. "But no, I've never been trained're nothin'." He couldn't picture his parents dancing. When they went to parties, they spent all of their time holding glasses of wine just so and... sitting. With that in mind, maybe he should dance more, if only to take a stab at them.

"Hm," West replied. It was unclear whether the noise was in response to her comments on the decor, or spending an entire party sitting, or both. "You'd be surprised. Things'appen 'round 'ere without you havin' t'do a thing at all. Jus' sit an' watch." He smirked and shook his head, his gaze darting to the cluster of irritation that had formed around Xiu and that delightfully pissed off gnome. Mmm, anger.

And the question that Riyo asked was the last one he wanted to hear. Though, it had been the very one he expected. The tabby's gaze fell away from Riyo's face as he lifted one of his gloved hands to chest level. Peeling back the hem from under the cuff of his sleeve just a bit, he exposed the gray discoloration of his skin. She'd seen it before, but it had spread since. It was really the only reason he was wearing the gloves at all.

He'd hide it from view for as long as he could.

"She had it, too..."

"Mmm, vampires are rather fancy...but I think if I ever introduced you to Decebal, you'd probably think a bit differently. He's not like..pale and refined or any of that." Ahh, sire. Where did you go, anyways? A small pang of concern flashed over her face for a moment.

Shehk took a few steps away before doing a single spin in her dress - a 360 of sorts to let Jericho see the whole thing. "You like it then?" She was absolutely beaming by this point. "And why would you think spending time with you wouldn't be fun, even if it is you being 'shy'? I did ask you to be my date because I rather like when we spend time together."

Face your demons

Mot laughed lightly, shaking his head. He could tell her to stop staring at her feet, but why bother? This wasn't a formal dance class, he was just helping her out. "This song? Um, I suppose it's considered.. fun?" He smiled amusedly. "You don't have to like it." He said with a grin.

"Well, waltzing is sort of difficult as a beginner. For faster paced songs, I'd suggest just wiggling in place." He chuckled. He kept on leading her, slowing down whenever he tried out a new move or twist on her, leading her limbs much like one would pose a doll, just so she knew what went where.

"Dancing is best when you simply let yourself enjoy it."

"He isn't? Exactly what is he like?" Jericho asked, now curious of the man she mentioned. He had heard of her sire maybe once or twice, but he really didn't know much more of the guy.

As Shehk did a twirl for him, he smiled lightly and nodded. Though, he soon let out a sort of weak chuckle.

"Alright. You have a point there. We just hope we aren't.. tying you down or anything like that is all."

Xiu was stumped. It was obvious that Lou was not, by any means, a polite person, but he did not seem like an entirely terrible person at least. Whereas her dislike of Titus came from the fact that she had caught the demon planting nightmares in an innocent student's mind, she didn't know too much about the vampire (beyond the fact he probably also fit until the "asshat" umbrella). Maybe he was just...socially awkward? Granted that his very being seemed to yell confidence but hey, Xiu was trying to see the best in people, okay?

Still, it did not sit well with her that he was calling her friends all these name. He had insulted both Shun and Vaith--two of her dearest friends, to be certain--and she had no doubt that he would creep on her female friends if the chance arose. With this in mind, the baku slipped out from behind Vaith and her shield, standing with her hands on her hips and a deep frown on her face.

"I insist that you apologize," She tried to keep her voice firm and resisted the urge to puff out her cheeks for once,
"Please. I want this to be a nice experience for everyone. I'll...I'll..." She furrowed her brows in thought,
"I'll be nice to you if you be promise to be on your best behavior tonight?"

...That was a terrible offer. Even Xiu had to admit that it had come out sounding far more ridiculous than she had intended. Still, if he refused, then it would not be too hard to avoid him this evening she was sure.

She was quickly distracted when Amphi came over to hug her, and the ghoul was quick to return the hug, her tail waving slightly upon seeing her friend.
"Amphi! And Thanatos, hello!" She grinned up at the reaper boil, and then turned her wide eyes to the mermaid at the offer.
"Oh, Vaith's not my date. But if everyone is interested in refreshments, then...?" She trailed off to look at them questioningly.

Ya'll 're part a'ma herd still, screecheart. Only can't really put'cha in tha barn with'em skeleponies back home. In no way did the tatzel mean to claim ownership or superiority over the banshee. Levi and her kin had always been strong believers in every creature of all factions existing equally whether they in turn did or not. She didn't want to be treated as inferior or be marked like property. Levi was a practicer of what she preached and so she expected equality in return. The few exceptions were a handful of boils from her town she'd gladly hogtie and lock up in the shed. Levi hadn't had nearly the amount of trouble with them boils here at Amityville.

Now yer tha'sort 'a critter ta c'mon over ta ma'place whenever ya like! Friends 're a sort'a herd too, ain't they?

Riyo's eyes stared at the patch of gray skin distantly, allowing all the pieces of the puzzle to fall into place without an ounce of resistance. It was for the first time that the ghoul regretted wishing harm to the people who did her wrong. There were thoughts that yes, it was her fault this was happening. Because she had so desperately wanted Deacon to suffer, he was going to die from the cancerous disease slowly taking over his body. Worse yet, he'd had to watch someone die from the same thing, as if reflecting a future event in a different body.

It was the ultimate form of revenge. Letting the universe do your dirty work for you, and it left the worst kind of taste in her mouth.

The tables were turned now, Riyo. She was the one who didn't know what to do. What to say to him.

Not a single thing she could say would make this right. Nor anything she knew to do. She could press the matter. See if any progress had been made to finding a cure, but it would just upset the boil more.

Riyo asked herself the question she'd asked Deacon a long time ago. Was she genuinely worried for the cat boil, or was she worried for herself?

"C'mon then. Lets go check and see if someone's spiked the punch yet." The ghoul took his hand before he could say a word and led him back over to the refreshment table.

Shehk actually had to pause to think of what Decebal was like in a few words.

"He's a rather straight to the point individual. He doesn't like dilly-dallying over issues at all and his methods are very....." she did a weird gesture with her hands to try and facilitate the word she was trying to think of. "He threw me out into a forest with something that nearly bit my face clean off to make me appreciate my life more.... and he has a kitchen decorated with pineapples..."

She wasn't sure why.

His slight guilt-moment caused her to tilt her head barely to one side. "You're not an anchor or a ball and chain, Jericho. I mean, I'd hate for you to feel like you are...or like I am either, on that note."

Zhi had gone from glum (obviously due to his lack of excessively long sleeves) to ecstatic when he and Jay had successfully captured their target. He was practically skipping into the room as he and his horsewoman friend held poor Senga over their heads. When Jay gave the cue to let the war horseman down, Zhi grinned, waiting for her count before he bent down and let the poor horseman go free. "We're here! Aren't you excited?" When he stood back up, he scanned the room, taking in the decorations and all the students milling about. Then he threw both of his arms up in the air.

"MISSION ACCOMPLISED!"

(ʘ‿ʘ)

"You have to stay here and enjoy this 'prom' thing with us," Zhi agreed, staring down at Senga expectantly. When his date piped up with a question, he suddenly frowned. What...now? ...That was a good question. What was one expected to do at these prom things?

"...Eat?" He suggested, pointing to the refreshments table. Then he pointed towards the students, "Or bother people, maybe?"

Yin arrived just a bit early, as was not unusual for him. But then he saw the minipet area, which he had not known about, and back to his room he went to find his darling Princess so that she could have fun too. After dropping the rabo off he made his way back toward the entrance. They were meeting here right? Maybe he was just rather early though, and Alexander would show up on time. It was hard to keep still, he felt horribly constricted in the suit he was in, and though his tie was on correctly (if a bit crooked) thanks to Ulmuka's help in showing him what to do, it felt more like a noose than anything else.

And then of course was the mask (This without the loops in the center), which he did not even understand. But one was supposed to wear masks to these things, though some that he saw were so elaborate, and not really meant to blend in at all. Still, there if he just blended in to the background no one would really notice that he might not have done everything correctly. But he was trying, and he was in a tie, and that would just have to be good enough.

At first, Decebal sounded like he'd fit right into Amity. Then there was the bit about pineapples, which caused the dragon to just blink slowly. No wait, he'd still fit well around here.

"...Did he ever go to this school? He sounds like he could be a faculty."

Frowning a bit at the next statement, he nodded in understanding.

"Alright."

Alex was late.

Really, the zomboil was always late, but this time he hadn't meant for it to happen at all. He'd had a plan, a sure fire fool proof way to actually be on time, and that was to actually plan on being there a full hour early. Simple really! But no, it was not to be as he received a phone call on his eyephone earlier that day. A job interview, one that he could not turn down after having been declined from some many different venues. He had told himself that he could still make it, that interviews never really took that long.

But then something amazing had happened. He had gotten hired, on the spot, and they had wanted to start training him immediately.

Well, he couldn't very well say no, could he?

Luckily it wasn't actual training, more of a 'get to know the place you will now be employed at' kind of a deal. He had gotten a full tour of the facility, and was asked to fill out a stack of paperwork and given more to take back to school with him to read over as well. He'd been introduced to the other staff that had been on shift at the time, and when all was said and done was finally allowed to leave.

And then he had to actually get ready for prom.

He'd told himself that it had to be perfect, that he had to look his best. And so, after many uncharacteristic acts such as brushing his teeth, showering, styling his hair (who cares that it would be hidden under a hat?), scrubbing and cleaning his nails so that there wasn't a hint of stains or dirt, and carefully cleaning his neck wound so that not a drop of blood, dried or otherwise, was to be seen, he had finally been able to get dressed.

Oh, and then his stupid minipet had followed him to the prom. That had been fantastic. Lucky for Alex they had set up an area for the pets to play and mingle in, so he'd been able to easily get rid of him, though the glimpse he caught of Princess Eva only served to remind him of just how very jack damned late he was for his first ever prom and first official date with Yin.

But he had made it, he was here, and as he turned back to the room at large he was finally struck by just how great everything looked! The student council had really gone all out (though he didn't exactly have anything to compare it by, this being his first and all).

And now to find Yin! But exactly where to actually start looking? It wasn't exactly difficult to tell who was who, even with masks covering their faces. They were mostly given away by extra appendages, such as tails, wings, horns...or even by height in some cases. The zomboil himself was sure that he would be easy enough to recognize. Tall and lanky, dressed in the same black suit that he had worn to scarentines day only with the addition of a vest underneath his suit jacket and over top of his crisp, clean, whit shirt, and a top hat on top of his head. His mask was fairly simple, and made to look skull like. His pale grey eyes gazed out from behind it, and he was already almost tempted to take if off. But no, this was a masquerade, after all. Best to humor the student council and just leave it on for now.

Oh, and he was wearing shoes. Black dressy styled ones to match the suit. That probably explained why he looked even more awkward then usual as he walked around, almost as though he might trip over his own feet and fall over at any given moment.

The zomboil decided that if anywhere were a good place to start looking for his boilfriend, the front entrance would likely be his best bet. Unfortunately for Alex, he hadn't realized just how good Yin could be at blending in to the background so as not to be noticed. It probably helped that there was really no way in hell the zomboil would have thought to look for his bonded in a suit of all things. But really, the boil had antennae for crying out loud! How hard could it be to spot him?
