"Deity? Dead?" Jean threw her head back and laughed softly, not at Owle, but at the thought. "Didn't he tell you what he was? He can only be taken apart, everything else about him is immortal. He was our God, our Deity...Datho Mere Sunstrike..."
"JEAN!!!"
Owle wouldn't even see it coming. Just the warning, and a sudden whoosh, before she was ten feet off the ground.
The whole time that Vahn and Knights had been fighting, without realizing...Knights had tried to listen in, thereby bringing both fighters, too close to the girls.
Flame ignited, and Jean didn't have a lot of time to prepare and grab Owle before both found a platform of earth shoving them sky high, ironically, the small plateau was big enough for two people.
Knights slamed into it from the impact, causing Jean to squeak and grab hold of her friend again when the dirt shuddered, everything smoking.
"Heh...heh...another fire ******** me..." Chunk! The blade hit the earth and Knights smoking body hauled itself upwards.
"The ******** do you think you're playing at Godchild...gonna destroy even before you start? Makes me wonder if you even want this disc in tact...or if you just wanna kill me for looking like him." Those green eyes stared at Vahn without fear, just regret.
"I said you weren't strong enough...he won't remember you. You react like this, well...you're too even to know the outcome for sure. Heh...must have shaken you up big time...finding love like that and being consumed by your own power like this."

A...a god? But he'd seemed like such a nice guy...
Owle opened her mouth to say something.
"JEAN!!!"
Owle saw the flames, saw that they were too close, and suppressed the instinct to curl up into a little protective ball. Instead she moved to interpose herself between Jean and the flames, even as the girl grabbed her. She didn't know what Jean was, but Owle saw her as a child...a child who probably wasn't nearly as used to having flames thrown at her as Owle was.
And then, before Owle even realized they were being shoved upward they were airborne, sitting ten feet above the battlefield on a small plateau.
Why had Jean's buddy included her, too? Jean had seemed friendly, but she'd expected Knights to take the divide between friend and enemy a little more seriously, and leave Owle to fend for herself. But he hadn't.
s**t. Now she had to watch the battle. She had to make sure Vahn didn't kill him.
"Thank you."
She held Jean for a moment, rubbing a hand comfortingly on the other girl's back, beneath her wings, as the platform shuddered beneath them. When Jean seemed calmer she'd release her. "It'll be al..."
Her voice trailed off as words from below invaded her ears. Her eyes bulged wide, making her look like someone had just run over her kitten.
"Did he say love?"

"Nngh..!" Yellowed eyes narrowed even as he froze his arm. The words did more than make him falter, they went straight into his heart and shattered the dark bindings that had taken place, making him regain his senses...
..if anything else. "S-Shut up! I'm not here to be played along with!!"
He swung the flamberge to the side, one-handed before stepping forward. "Don't talk like you know me! You don't know me at all! You don't know him-- you don't know US!!"

A smirk. "Hah! You're blushing..." He looked up at Jean. "You owe me next coffee wingling!" A belated. "Awwww..."
"I knew him before he was anything to you, Kyonuske. And I know you by your original name...before the flame..." A soft sigh.
"You're a damn fool if you think any of us are here by chance. You've been set up...not to fall, but to become something more...it's just your pigheadedness keeping you stuck to the crumbling ground."
Again the case was taken out, despite the earlier warning, it was completely intact.
"This will only tell you what happened, and what you face. It's not about your past...it's his own catching up to him. Decide for yourself how involved you wanna be, cause there's no going back if you stick with us."
He looked away. "You'll find out what he really is. Make the choice, and speak to us again when you do. C'mon Jean! We gotta find a place to camp for the evening!"
She looked at Owle and grinned widely. "Thanks for talking to me!" And she hoped straight off the edge and landed on Knights head.
...
BANG. The boys face ate the dirt as coolpoints suddenly = 0 yet again. He'd obviously been more effected by Vahn's fire then previously indicated, Leaving Jean squishing a very small green dragon.
"Ah...jeese Vahn! You made him revert! It'll take him ages to get back to human again!" Those orange eyes, her way of speaking...the sudden "Oh for the love of..." as she picked up the catsized creature. Then her hand found the sword, the process was slow...but the child version of Jean was replaced by a young looking lady, tall enough to just get the weapon into the sheath and string it over her back.
For all intents and purposes, Vahn was looking at a female, blond...Sunstrike. She looked at the disk in his hand and quirked an eyebrow. "You just decide what you think is best, boyo, take your time...like Knights said, s'ultimately up to you. And you'll know where to find us if you need to." Another wave to Owle, dragon slumped against her hip, and she wandered off towards the forest to set up sleeping arrangements.

He said love. Vahn's reaction only confirmed it. Owle stared down at the him, wide-eyed...not believing. Yes, she had known that Vahn had someone else who held his heart, someone he had to find. She had been alright with that, when he told her...cause so did she.
But a GUY?!
A....GUY?
..........Owle's brain went offline for a few moments, and she simply listened to them talk.
"Oh, um, you're welcome," she stammered to Jean, barely looking at her, her eyes still glued to Vahn and Knights.
Wow...what a cute dragon...
HUH?!
The last as the child she'd been speaking to wasn't a child anymore.
Which was real, which was false? she wondered as she waved back to the young woman. The child or...?
Well, I can't stay up here all day.
She leapt off the plateau, tiny wings fluttering madly as they slowed her descent to the ground. Her feet touched earth, she looked up at Vahn, her brown eyes meeting his. So many questions, so many doubts and things she needed not to hear...
"What-?"
It was a single, strangled word that demanded an explanation for everything that had just happened.

"I assume he's the tenacious one over there?" Grace mumbled to Providence as they watched the last few moments of the fight. The man simply nodded.

All the while, the magpie sat on the bike's handlebars, silently watching. Only when those two figures appeared in the distant, the bird seemed to be confused, as if it didn't know what to do, as if it got contradictory orders. It suddenly croaked in protest, then became calm again, reminding of a piece of decoration.

"Hah...Hah...hah.."
Blood dripped from his right hand, and from the side of his body, even as he found himself falling to one knee. He tilted his head up and back, staring at Knights with nothing but silent contempt.
He stared down, even before Knights would slump fall and change.
"Heh heh heh...Ohhh..HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" He sent out peals of laughter even as the two retreated and Vahn was left alone, bleeding there on the ground.
Owle was staring at him, wanting answers.
Answers.
"It's no--nothing... I'm just laughing that's all." He pushed himself up off the ground with the flamberge, slowly getting back up even as blood splattered the ground once more.
"Yeah...funny... Everything. Everything is funny."

He was injured, bleeding, and probably insane. Owle shoved her emotions aside. Deal with the problem.
"Come on..." One arm around him, to help him stand if he needed it. "We need to get you somewhere where you can heal up. Then you have some explaining to do. Okay?"
She didn't know why she expected she had a right to an explanation, there was no logic behind it. But damn it, she'd been straight with him before they'd made love. She had told him about Rafe, about the child she carried. And he had hidden this from her. Until she'd woken up.
"Whatever happens, whatever you decide to do or have to, I'm here. Alright?"
He was still a friend. Whatever inner turmoil she might have, there was no denying that his need right now was greater than that little emotional storm. So she locked it away, let it sit. He needed something solid, someone who wasn't going to let him stand here and bleed to death on the plains, laughing about god knows what.
And the magpie just wasn't gonna cut it.

"Oh look at that poor man, he's down already. I wonder if he'll even get through the first match." Grace commented with surprise even as Vahn fell to his knees. And as he would be getting helped up, the woman piped up, "Oh, time to get going. Can't have him leave too soon now." And with that, the two began to advance, one step at a time.

His laughter petered out as she touched him, his voice croaking down into short bursts, and then haggard breathing as he began to collect himself again.
The 'seam' along his right arm seemed to fade away, even as Vahn lowered his head, hsi body nearly sagging. "Do you hate me Owle?"
At least that's how it would have gone, if it weren;t for the fact that he began hearing someone coming closer... one..no two...
"....?" Lifting his head, yellowed eyes stared out.

Grace would flash a cheerful smile and wave to the man as he looked in their direction. Providence would not.
"Bravo." She would say when they got close enough as she clapped her hands together, "We have something for you." she would finish as they stopped moving.

With those two coming closer, the bird's eyes were fixed on the tall, pale man with his silvery-white hair.
By the way, if one was to take a closer look, he would find a thin leather strap around the magpie's leg, attached to it a tiny, uncut pearl.

((I'm assuming two things with this post:
Vahn asked his question before he heard Grace and Providence coming closer.
Grace and Providence are still not quite within ten feet of Owle.))
"Should I?"
She supported his weight as well as she could, even as he nearly sagged. She couldn't quite bring herself to smile at him, but...she didn't look angry either. She was calm.
"I can't say what I do feel about you, but I know for sure it isn't hate, Vahn."
She might have gone on...she might have told him more, might have tried to comfort him better. The foremost thing in her mind right now was to get him back to safety and get him to pull himself together. When he wasn't falling to pieces about this, then she could confront him with her mixed feelings. Until then...
But she, too, noticed the people moving closer. Her body tensed, and anyone with a sense for telepathic energy as well as Vahn would see golden snakes arise from her back, arching protectively around herself and Vahn to stare at these two strangers. She couldn't protect him if it came to a fight, this power was her only...
Huh?
The snakes pulled back when they were barely within ten feet of the pair, hissing and spitting as though burnt.
No...
Owle's eyes narrowed, and her body tensed further. There was nothing she could do, and he was injured...she really hoped these people hasn't come for a fight. Though she had seen Vahn do miraculous things while injured, she had no idea what sort of state he'd be in afterward.
She didn't respond to the woman. It seemed pretty obvious, to her at least, that the woman was addressing Vahn.

"--You!"
He spat the word out, even as blood accompanied the sudden movement. He was already pushing away from Owle, bringing the flamberge up and off the ground, giginv a lazy wide arc to the rgiht.
"Some party we got here!" He took a half step forward, blackened flames leaking from the wound in his side, and forming what appeared to be half of a jagged wing.
He was moving forward, putting distance between himself and Owle for her own sake. "It's not another burnt stadium is it? Maybe you wanna do the plains next?? That what your god wants?!"
How could he forget Providence... no.. Kraun..
