The boy gazed at Jess squarely and without expression. Gwen, meanwhile, giggled and gave them all large, toothless smiles when Peter tickled her. "I think he needs a short name," Peter said, looking down at his son. "He doesn't seem like the type for nicknames."

Jess nodded in agreement, letting him wrap his tiny hand around her pointer finger. "Definitely. He's a very no nonsense boy I think." She bit on her bottom lip for a moment, trying to find just the perfect name for him. "We can always name him Darts." She looked up at Peter, an obvious joking smile on her face.

Peter smiled, but looked concentratedly at the boy. "Adam?" he suggested. "That's a serious enough name. Two syllables. And for his middle name...something old-fashioned, right?"

Jess shrugged. "Adam is my father's middle name. I'm not sure I want him to be associated with him in any way. Besides, it's too common. He needs something more unique. Gwen is a unique name, so we can't give our boy something run of the mill." She frowned, canting her head to the side as she tried to think of the perfect name. "Aiden? It's close to Adam but it's not the same."

Peter nodded. "Aiden's fine, but we still need a middle name." He looked down at Aiden. "Are there any affiliations we should include? Or go out of our way to avoid?"

Jess didn't answer. She was quickly become absorbed in playing with her son. Aiden was grabbing onto her finger and sucking on it for a few seconds before flailing his arms around and laughing. "Are you having fun there? You know, your mum's finger isn't very good tasting." She chuckled, tickling the baby under his chin.

Aiden grinned and cooed once more, much to the annoyance of Gwen. Peter picked her up and she gave everyone a pretty smile once more, evidently pacified. "I think this one takes after you, Jess," Peter remarked, tapping her daughter's face lightly.

"Well of course. My girl knows when she wants to be the star of the show." Jess gave her daughter a proud smile. "And I think your son is going to end up just like you. Serious and very loving towards me. Isn't that right?" She tickled him again and he grabbed her thumb determinedly, gnawing on it with his gums. "And we can't forget an insatiable appetite."

Peter grinned. "Wait till everyone finds out. We've got twins," he said gleefully, holding Gwen up in the air. He was vaguely concerned about the unaccounted for expenses, but they would manage. All that really mattered at the moment is that they had children. Two very healthy, adorable children.

Jess nodded dreamily, playing with Aiden for a few minutes before she was struck with very flooring realization. "Peter..." Her head shot up, her expression sobering. "We're parents." She blinked a few times to absorb that thought, as it had never really sunk in before.

Peter nodded. "Yeah." It hadn't really hit home yet, but it seemed obvious at the time. "Parents of twins!" he said, kissing Gwen. Gwen correctly interpreted this as an affectionate gesture, and she smiled before closing her eyes and letting out a wail.

"Twins...yeah..." Jess's voice seemed to lose all its weight, becoming nothing more than a breathy whisper. She glanced down at the baby in her arms. The one she and Peter had made, that they had never even known was in there. The one who, along with his sister, was still in her stomach only a few hours ago. And now Jess was holding him and would bring the two of them home and raise them and all those things that went along with parenting. She didn't even notice that her daughter's wailing had caused a chain reaction, setting off Aiden as well.
Michael, sensing that Jess seemed to be having an existential crisis of sorts, gave Evelyn a squeeze on the shoulder and whispered into her ear. "I think it might be best for us to give them some time alone right now."

Evelyn nodded, taking his hand. But she couldn't help herself. Before leaving, she tapped Jess gently on the shoulder. "Dear, I think they're hungry."

"Hungry? No thank you, I'm a little too tired to eat." It took a second before Jess realized that she had said "they're" and not "you're". That thought brought a bit of pinkness to her cheeks, and she was glad that her in laws were on their way out. "Oh...okay then. Feeding two at once..." She glanced up at Peter. "You wouldn't happen to have some extra mammary glands laying around do you? I mean technically I have enough room for both of them, but this is going to be awfully awkward to manage."

Peter looked behind him, but all the assistants and Amelia had packed up their things and left. "Well...do you think you can do it?" he asked, not particularly eager to help. "I mean...I don't see how I could do anything."
