"What's funny?" asked Peter, finishing off a set of crackers and sitting down, carefully holding Aiden. He shifted and tried to reposition the baby when he realized that he was holding Aiden the same way he would a rugby ball.

Jess yawned, settling herself better. "It's just funny to think that these little doll-like things are going to grow up and be people just like us." She opened her eyes a bit, smiling wearily at Peter. "And for that matter, it's also funny to think that we used to be just like them."

Peter smiled. "And to think our parents used to be like them, too. And they didn't even know each other then." He looked back at Jess. "Yeah. It is funny."

Jess nodded lightly, closing her eyes again. "Peter? You don't mind that I'm an old mum now, right?"

Peter shook his head, not seeing that Jess had closed her eyes. "Nah." He grinned. "It's sort of attractive, even," he joked.

Jess opened one eye, looking at him curiously before hsutting it again. "Attractive now? How so?"

Peter shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe it's just you. But no worries. Motherhood hasn't hurt you any," he said, closing his eyes too.
Evelyn rested on Michael's shoulder, quite exhausted. "At least we've got all the paperwork filled out."

That thought made Jess feel a little better. After realizing that her babies were out of her stomach and all of that pudge was now pure fat, her self esteem had dropped slightly. It was good to know that at least Peter thought she was beautiful. Still, she wanted to make sure to ask if there was a potion she could take to burn off the excess pounds. "That's good to know..." She struggled to stay awake, not wanting to accidentally let go of Gwen until Amelia came back and could put them in the nursery.
Michael nodded, bringing his arm around her shoulders and letting her lean against him. "We've been grandparents for an hour and we're already old and exhausted." He chuckled tiredly, stroking his wife's hair softly.

Evelyn smiled a little dreamily. "And we're going to have children in the house. Michael, we've never had two children living in the house before."

"Well, except for the cousins, but they go home after a while." Michael smiled down at Evelyn, feeling sort of young again. "We're going to have our work cut out for us, you know."
"Knock, knock, may I come in?" Amelia poke her head into the room, her beaming expression still on her face as she saw the family resting. She kept her voice low and entered with her assistants, who were wheeling in the babies' cradles. "I'm going to need the babies' names and fingerprints now. Then we'll bring them to the nursery and you two can have a little nap.

Evelyn nodded happily. "Oh, I do. I don't think I could manage, really, if I had to become a grandmother any older than this."
Peter nodded gratefully, holding Aiden out to one of the assistants.

Harriet and Loreena took both babies, getting their foot and fingerprints while Amelia came to them with two birth certificates in her hand. "Alright then, what is our little girl here going to be named?" She looked to Jess but, noting that she had already fallen asleep, turned her attention to Peter.

Peter looked over at Aiden guiltily. He still didn't have a middle name. "Well, her name's going to be Guenevere. Guenevere Lilith." He bit his lip, trying to think of a good, strong name for Aiden that wasn't too ordinary for Jess.

Peter nodded. "Yes. K-E-Y-E-S." He had completely forgotten about Jess's insistance that the children have her surname as well.
