Carl sighed. "Oh honey, come on, don't be a grumpy guss." Carl picked Dain's head and held his face in between his hands. "You should tell her how you feel sweetie. Maybe hearing that will snap her out of this." Carl planted a kiss on Dain's forehead.
Lilly had wiped her eyes and was heading back to the table when she saw Carl and Dain. She froze as she caught the last few sentences and the kiss.
Her eyes went huge and she bolted out of the restaurant. She didn't know where she was going but as long as it was away from them it was fine. She jumped over the cars in the parking lot and headed down the street.

Dain saw Lilly run our of the restaurant. He immediately pulled away from Carl and jumped up. "I'll pay you back for the food later." He took off running after Lilly. He started yelling her name as soon as got out to the parking lot. "Lilly!! Lilly stop!"

Lilly couldn't see through her tears. She tried wiping her eyes as she ran but she didn't notice that she was running on the middle of the street until she heard the car horn. She screamed and dove for the sidewalk.

Dain screamed her name again and ran to her. The driver of the next car didn't even have time to honk. All Dain could hear was the screeching of the tires before he was hit.

Lilly was looked up from her face plant in the pavement and screamed. People were starting to gather and gawk awkwardly at the scene.
"DAIN!" She started crawling over to where he was. "Dain! Oh god what did I do!? Dain...."

The driver had panicked and sped off rather than stopping to even check if he was okay. Dain had curled up into a ball and was trying to breathe while causing as little pain as possible.

"Dain..." Lilly crawled over to him and reached a shaking hand out to touch him.
Dain hissed from the pain and looked up at Lilly. "Are you okay?"

Yakov wrapped his arms around Jeff and hugged him tightly.

"D-Dain!" Lilly was in tears. "Oh god what did I do to you? I DON'T CARE ABOUT ME!" Her voice was shaky.
Dain shook his head. "It's not your fault." He tried to sit up and cried out in pain. "Don't worry. I'm not gonna die."

"Don't move....oh god...please don't move...I...I don't know what to do..." Lilly's whole body was shaking.
One of the gawking strangers came up to them. "Do you want me to call 911?"

Miki managed to make it over to the bed with Jenifers help. She sat down and sighed.

Dain shook his head. "No. I'll be fine. I'm pretty sure I've just got some cracked ribs." He wanted to reach out and hold Lilly but he was afraid to touch her.

Lilly grabbed his hand and pressed it against her cheek. She was crying and shaking her head.
The stranger looked shocked. "You sure? I mean you just got hit by a car..."
