Maybe you can answer this for me: why do people buy donation letters?? Depends on what you mean. Do you mean why do people donate real money to get them, or why do people buy them using Gaia gold from the people who bought them using real money? People donate real money to help the server get better (since we all know how much trouble it's been having, and any problem eventually gets fixed if you throw enough money at it) and they get items as well. If people have a lot of money in real life, like, say, $40 just sitting in the bank, they don't mind giving up $2.50 for an item which will easily be worth thousands of Gaia gold. The reason people buy from them using Gaia gold varies greatly. First of all, many users of Gaia are too young to have credit cards, and thus cannot donate themselves. They still want the items in the donation letters, so they buy them. They might also consider spending money on a game that can be free to be silly when you can simply post "bump" about a million times and get the same thing for free.
