Sevi Rais Pixie: I love that movie! Acq (just calling you that cuz I don't want to spell out your username): What was the RP thread called? I might remember it... Its ok, everyone calls me different names (some people even just call me "numbers") It was The Damned Bar. Though it didn't have the "write a paragraph per post" rule. It was pretty laid back and you did have a few people that did post only a few sentences or just one. But a good deal of literate role players came there to RP. It was pretty awesome and I miss it crying I made a new one but its not the same. There were about two other RP bar style threads that had almost as many posts as mine as well as a Hot Springs which I had my character work at during the time of the bar.

Greeting to everyone. My name is Protagonist. I am a 20 year-old male going to college and working most the time. What little time I have to myself I spend playing all sorts of computer games(except WoW stare ) and as of recently decided to come here again as well. My old account, which is lost forever.. had been 2 years old, after that 2 years I quit Gaia for 3 years. Now here I am.. resurfaced just 2 weeks ago. Way back when I was a part of a similar guild and I really enjoyed that atmosphere instead of the regular forum stuff. That guild fell apart not 2 years after its conception and I really missed it. Then, like a beam of revealing light through the crap and yaoi guild I saw this guild, nearly 5 years old and still thriving.. So I applied. I hope to become an active and contributing member of this guild and the Gaia community as a whole. Thanks for having me.

Currently I am studying Political Science.. However I am really considering the study of physics and astronomy due to a new found interest in both of those fields. We'll just see where my mind and wallet can take me.

I think every year or so my inner mommy gives me a little nudge and says, "Go on. Post on Gaia again. How about you make some friends?"
I used to post here and I stopped for various really stupid reasons. I made an introduction post four years ago and I came here fully intending to just quote that thing and say, "I'm more or less the same person" but then I actually read my intro post from four years ago and was strangely compelled to punch my 18 year old self in the face. I believe that's some sort of growing experience.
So, uh. My name is Rose. I work on a boat. You name it, and providing it's not lethal or somehow related to college sports I've probably found a way to appreciate it. I'm gonna try to post here more often if you'll have me.

I read over some chat logs from when I was 12 and was actually impressed with myself. I was intelligent for someone that age and said some witty things here and there. Then everything between age 13-18 makes me want to kick my balls. I used ta say things like dis ^_~
I think a lot of young Gaians are untainted by chatspeak and their own egos. It's when they hit those teenage years that half of them become awful little beasts that strive to be cool, told-you-so, biting and witty... Only to everyone else, they come off as a brats with their heads stuck up their asses, and the funniest thing spewing from their mouths is last year's internet meme.

I don't think I got the internet until I was 15, but I wish I still had some of those early chatlogs. The fact that I remember some of the antics nearly 10 years later proves that they were golden. Alas, lost to hard-drive crashes. It was never that I used chatspeak or lacked wit. Everybody always thought I was in my 20's well before I was. There was just... a year or so I wish I could take back. I can be a real b***h if you piss me off, but I'm not generally that way by nature. The GD eats at a person's soul... I think I actively sought out confrontation for a while there. Eh... well, I probably still would when I got bored enough, but I don't want ban-hammered. It still pisses me off that certain people are now mods who were actually worse than I was, but I can't even get into early beta testing because I got one warning. Well, at least kissing Dri's a** is no longer a sure way to power, seeing as they finally fired her. Hmm... inappropriate to mention that? Oh bloody well. Her character judgment was terrible and I don't see where she excelled at any other pat of her job. It amazes me she was ever promoted to staff in the first place.

Is it easier to become a mod nowadays? I've seen a couple of people become mods who are just....very bad. :/ I've also heard that they talk too big for their own heads and then never put out. Well that doesn't surprise me.
It seemed like, back in the day, mods were chosen very carefully. I liked most of the pics. I think there was more of an opposition to certain people but now it's like....well, let's just let anyone through that knows the rules. haha

I think there have been shitty picks for mods ever since the very first batch. The last time I actually checked who the new moderators were, I agreed with the choices made much more than I have earlier on. It seemed to me, back when I was in Q&F, 90% of the mods came from regs there. Just because you can answer the same asinine questions about general usage repeatedly and not lose your cool, doesn't really mean you're cut out for settling disputes in other areas of the site. Plus, it generally seemed to be the largest sycophants who were picked.
Don't get me wrong. Not everybody picked that way was bad. Some were genuinely nice people who just wanted to help. Which is why those are the ones that had a nervous breakdown within a few months of being appointed and resigned. The ones who only stuck around and answered questions to get noticed stayed longer and were largely worthless. I was in Q&F mostly for the F part. I saw many of the one group actually go so far as to flame people for giving feedback because, of course, ALL site feedback is easily contained by two stickies and, godammit, you're wasting space on the front page for them to prove their "worth." rolleyes
