c. Offer to split it 50/50.

"Wanna split the check," Steve asked. It was no big deal if she didn't, he could pay. It was just some people got embarassed if others paid for them, and girls pulled the "chauvinist" card and began thinking the guy was a jerk. Maybe it was overthinking on his part, but he wanted to at least toss the offer out there.

e. Grab her hand, dine and dash!

OH GOD. OH GOD. OH GODDDDDDDD. Steve had spent his last few coins on popcorn. He didn't want to let the lady pay, so he took a lesson from her. Filled with panic, but not letting it show on his face, he waited until the take-away owner's back was turned, picked up lust (She actually wasn't that heavy... surprising...) and dashed.
After they'd turned the corner, take-away food still in hand, he smiled at her. He felt so care-free, the adrenalin was helping his nerves immensely. He had just stolen food. AWESOME.

E. Dine and Dash

Steve was shocked that everything was going so well...perhaps that magazine he read really had good advice?! When the check was set between them he smiled to the waitress as she stepped away for a moment to let them get stuff together. This was it...he needed to complete his whole bad boy look and routine and this was how he could show it...course he'd be sure to come back to pay for his food later...without Lust finding out of course.

His eyes flicked to the waitress back to Lust and then he grinned reaching his hand to take hers and pulling her to the door dashing out before they paid. It was thrilling wasn't it?

c. Offer to split it 50/50.

After having picked the Chinese place and digging in his pockets trying to pay for it before she noticed the total Steve blushed quickly. It seems he was short.

"Ah-heh... do you mind if we split the tab?" He asked curiously before putting the money on the table. Yeah he maybe somewhat felt like an a** and the date had been going somewhat... okay despite the lack of intelligent conversation. There wasn't much he could think of to say though....

Ow. Ow. Ow. Why did she keep kicking him? Ow...ow...OW! Damnit! Why wouldn't she quit that?! Steve decided to just grin and bear it, pretending he wasn't being kicked at all. It was a simple dinner, nothing more. But they did order some of the more expensive stuff, especially her. But she seemed...comfortable, and almost happy. She was certainly amused to say the least. The dinner was mostly quiet and uneventful excluding the kicks under the table, trying to make himself pass them off as accidental nudges whenever she adjusted her legs to sit more comfortably. He could do this. Just a little longer and he could take her home and then return to his precious Lilith. Surely with Lilith things wouldn't be this awkward, they could have actual conversation, and she wouldn't keep kicking him!

Eventually the bill was brought to their table and Steve quickly snatched it up before Lust could even so much as make a grab for it, opening it and looking down at the total. His eyes widened marginally and Steve did his best not to look too shocked by the price, clearing his throat and just taking out his credit card to pay it before she even saw the total. Why let her see? It wasn't like it mattered or anything. He slid the check away with the total covered by his card, nonchalantly refusing to let Lust see it as subtly as he could.

The food was ….edible, the conversation light at best or otherwise there was none at all, and while he tried to look deeply interested in his burger, it was hard to when someone was stabbing your leg with their stiletto heel. It was like she had her shoes sharpened and he was glad the thick layer of leather gave him some relief. He wondered if he should point it out, but she seemed to just be happy to smile sweetly at him, or as sweetly as she could manage (which was more unsetting than anything else), and he let it go. No point in starting something, and as long as she enjoyed his company, then he wasn't about to sour that. He had more important things to think about, like what to say, and wondering if that was a spider sack on his sandwich or a really discolored pickle.

When dinner was done, the rather strange burger joint slapped the receipt on the table, and he quickly snatched it up. 1.) he didn't want her to see how cheap he had been with the dinner, even if the food sort of gave it away and 2.) He didn't want her to see his ripped up bills. It was best he try to pass off his torn currency out of sight, and so he excused himself and slipped to the front.

It was hard to pass off the money, and when he had to explain that this place had no standards to demand whole money, the cashier called up his manager, and then, with some chin-stroking and pulling out the restaurant manual, he was allowed to pay the bill. He was defiantly going to bring plastic next time!

a. Pay it before she even sees the total.

Ahh...Dinner was tasty, but awkward. Steve had attempted conversation a couple of times, really, but words were sort of failing him. Things were going well, which was astounding, and maybe part of why his skills as a conversationalist were falling short. Not that he was some suave, debonair hellcat to begin with...

The check arrived and an idea hit him. He quickly looked down and grabbed up the check. "Hold on. This isn't ours! I'll go straighten this out." Steve rose and moved over to the counter, removing the cash from his pocket as surreptitiously and nonchalantly as he could manage. "This isn't our check. Try again!" He pushed the check (and the payment) across the counter and marched back to the booth. He was staging a dine and dash, but he paid up everything before she saw the total. Danger was sexy, right? He couldn't actually dine and dash. Hell, the owner recognized him and would probably go to his house. That old lady could be scary when she wanted to be.

"Let's get out of here. Quick!" He urged in a near whisper, offering a hand to her and nodding toward the door.
