Week 28: 195 Shallow June 3, 2013
Still waters run deep. Still rivers flow slow. Still clear waters have secrets to know.
Shallow waters will warm. Shallow rivers will run. Shallow small waters are deep when they're done.
I think I may have regurgitated some proverbs or sayings or something there. I know the first line is something I found in my great grandmother's embroidery kit.

Week 28: 196 Little Things June 4, 2013
It's just the small things, the little things. The almost unnoticeable things.
A stubbed toe, a broken nail, a pushed door marked pull.
It's just the small things, the little things, the almost unnoticeable things, that make bad days worse.
A friendly smile, a held door, Green trees to catch the light.
It's just the small things, the little things, the almost unnoticeable things, that make any day better.

Week 29: 197 Choke June 5, 2013
The air is hot and humid. I look around for the fog that my brain says should be there as I breathe in what feels like more water than air. I can feel my muscles contract and expand as the move to breathe. I wonder how it can take so much work, so much effort just to get a single breath. I wonder how it can feel like I am choking on the air.

Week 29: 198 Static June 6, 2013
Den walked through the castle halls and carefully avoided touching anything that was metal or could possible look like it was. With the storms raging on outside and his erratic control of his magic electricity was in abundant supply. After getting shocked by the stray bolt of lightning, that luckily for him, and much to everyone's disbelief left him with nothing more than the feeling he could not discharge the static, he felt it was best to not touch anything. Not that the little zaps he got when he touched that were not enough of a deterrent to start with.

Week 29: 199 Snowflake June 7, 2013
Ri clapped her hands together, the cold air after the warmth the gloves had trapped in them, hit harder than usual. She breathed out and watched as her breath solidified into something that resembled a wispy cloud before it dispersed. Winter was a strange time.
Something wet hit her face and she looked up. Eyes squinted as a featureless sky where the color sat somewhere between white and grey.
A white fleck of cold landed on her finger and she stared at it.
Snowflake. The word swirled in her mind alongside memories that were entirely her own.
She smiled and looked to the sky where the white flakes had multiplied and scattered across the wind. She missed snow.

Week 29: 200 Honey June 8, 2013
John turned to Jubilee and the disgusted look on her face. "What is it now?" He asked as he took a bite of his peanut butter and honey sandwich.
"The things you humans eat." She said, "You get grossed out that animals eat their own feces and then you go and eat other animal's vomit."
"What?" John asked through the mouthful of food.
"Honey." Jubilee said, "It is more or less bee vomit."
John stared at his sandwich and shrugged. "It tastes good."

Week 29: 201 Catch June 9, 2013
"Hey Cherry-boy." Lell said from the door.
Kirsch looked up just in time to have a moment to see an object fly at his face, and know he had not chance to catch it. He kicked off from the table and let the titled chair fall back, a quick acrobatic move left him standing on the floor.
"You are supposed to say catch." He said as he scanned the rug for whatever it was Lell had thrown.
"Only if that is the purpose." Lell said with a smile that promised a laugh no matter what his response was.
He shook her head and decided the quickest way to get through the conversation was to take the bait. "What was the purpose then?"
"To get your attention." Lell said as the smile widened, "Your full, undivided attention."

Week 29: 202 Stars in the Attic June 10, 2013
John stared up at the stars and planets and every other celestial body that man kind had discovered since the first humans had looked up to the sky. They spun around his room, confined by the metal walls of the space station, back dropped against drawings of a planet he had never seen.
The machine, ancient yet far more advanced than those first people have ever imagined, clicked as the mechanisms wound to a halt. He sat up to give it a solid tap, but before he could move, something else clicked into place and the machine moved again.
The steel grey walls disappeared, the paintings faded, and his room turned into a dusty old attic with wooden beams and a window that showed the moon bright and full. The attic quickly was covered in stars and masses of color he had read about but never seen. He looked for the constellations he knew, but found none, they were stars from the planet and he was lifetimes away.
He leaned back though, and stared at the stars in the attic.

Week 29: 203 Fairy Tales June 11, 2013
"Those are just fairy tales." John said to the strange new people.
"Fairy tales that you believed in as a child." The black haired woman said, she looked at him and her grey eyes saw far more than she should have. Although it was not just her all seeing stare that made him avoid looking at her, there was something about her that just looked slightly off and it made his skin crawl. "And learned that many of them are true." The fact that she managed to speak with the same accent he had acquired after living thousands of lives, and should not have occurred on anyone, made him even more unnerved by the diminutive woman.
One of the people that had come with her said something and earned a glare and something snippy said back.
"You would think by now you could tell they fall under the same category you place me and the 'other fairy tales' you do not believe in." Jubilee said from the half wall she had chosen to sit on and watch what happened.
"Like you?" John asked before he turned back to the black haired woman who out of all of the strange people gave off the weirdest vibes and was the only one who had said anything he understood.
"They call themselves the Dia." Jubilee said with a shrug, "They are quite the deal back on their world."
"We do not call ourselves that." The woman said, "It-"
"It is the rest of the world that does." Jubilee said with a tone that meant John was soon going to be left behind as her mind skipped through time. He opened his mouth to ask what the term Dia meant but Jubilee spoke first, "Gods."
"I like fairy tales better." John said and decided that as strange as the things Jubilee came up with in his kitchen were, he preferred the headaches they caused to the strange things that happened when she dragged him around the city.

Week 30: 204 Misunderstood June 12, 2013
"Misunderstood? Oh no you heard me wrong. You are the one who misunderstood. I am not misunderstood. No that implies there is any level of understanding or that it was even attempted in the first place. What I told you is so beyond your comprehension you fail to grasp even the tiniest portion of what I said. So I repeat, you did not misunderstand me, because you did not in any capacity understand me."
"Ma'am I just wanted to know if you wanted pickles on your sandwich."
"Oh. Right. Wrong conversation, sorry about that."
"So?"
"Yes I would like pickles on the sandwich. Who doesn't?"

Week 30: 205 Illumination June 13, 2013
Fren squinted his eyes as the fading light of the night dissipated and his scattered attention forgot to sustain the flow of magic to his light source. He turned the page as the ambient light in the room increased, and as always when he was deeply engrossed in reading, it went unnoticed.
The light increased and as the lack of lighting was no longer a problem, continued to read uninterrupted.
"Fren, if you forget to eat or sleep because you are looking for something I am not going to stop anyone from banning you from the library." Den said.
Fren looked up to see his twin glare at him with his arms crossed. "Then perhaps you should not lend me your light, oh illuminated one." Fren said as he closed the book and prepared for Den to react.
"Call me that again and I am going to -"
Fren shook his head and placed the book on the table for another time, "Relax Den." He cut off the fading fires from his magic and headed to the door while Den stood slack jawed and shining. "Think we can sneak something from the kitchens?"

Week 30: 206 Photograph June 14, 2013
John looked at the strange box in front of him. A memory of a hundred thousand lifetimes ago, in a time that had not yet passed pulled up text books and pictures in history books, that in mass produced printed volumes had become obsolete and relegated to historical artifacts by his time.
He pulled out his money and handed it to the man. "I you could, sir."
The man looked up in him in surprise and after a moment to get over it, smiled at him and nodded. "Stand right over there." John did as he was told. "Now stand perfectly still."
John smiled and imagined some witty quip about loosing his soul, right before he wondered if he had already lost it and like a vampire would appear as nothing more than nothing on the paper. He settled on giving the man another smile and giving the man a word that would not see use in his lifetime, "Cheese."

Week 30: 208 Strawberry June 16, 2013
"We need Jam." Jubilee said as the fridge door slammed shut. John entered the kitchen and barely managed to stop himself from turning around on the spot and heading right back to bed.
"We have plenty." He said as he pinched the bridge of his nose. Starting a day off with a headache was not ever, and never would be, his idea of fun.
"No we don't." Jubilee said. She turned to him and placed her hands on her hips in what he imagined was her best impression of being pissed off.
"We have a shelf full of jellies and jams." John said, "And another cupboard full of unopened ones, that you made."
"No strawberry though." Jubilee said as she walked past him and he wondered if banging his head against the wall would relieve the headache.

Week 30: 209 Stripes June 17, 2013
"A tiger cannot change it's stripes child." Yadla said and Kirsch came to the sudden realization of just why his teacher had hated the woman so much. The tall blond woman bent down to stare Ri in the eye and look disdainfully at the dots around her eyes, "And neither can a puppet her markings. You were born to be a puppet, nothing more."
Kirsch waited for the explosive response for the woman's poor choice in words.
Ri took a step back, but instead of drawing the blades as he had expected she simply pulled up her sleeve to bare her arm and the black markings that wound around it like string, or stripes.
"I have seen markings change." Ri said slowly, "These are because I have control of my magic. Not you. Try that little trick again and I will show you why a tiger has no need to change its stripes."
