He was lost again. It seemed to be kinda the thing lately. Him getting lost. JabberWhut didn't really mind it all that much, aside from that little trip to the lake which brought a seemingly endless loop of an unpleasant memory, but he did get a new level out that, so wandering was not all that bad.
But now he was getting tired, so he sat down. Maybe something interesting would show up and like all good stories something did. The tree talked. Of course it because trees could talk.
JabberWhut looked lazily up at it. There was a smile of teeth again. So was this the same set of teeth he happened to see on that other tree he was supposed to examine way back when which was actually not so long ago when he was told to examine the trees? A cat appeared momentarily to accompany the teeth. Oh. It's a Cheshire. And there was a riddle.
"What is flat but sharp at the edges?"
JabberWhut frowned. This was a thoroughly easy one. "A knife." He resisted the urge to add "duh" after it. He did want to become the cheshire cat's friend of sorts. I mean, it does seem to have a very interesting lifestyle. Can I learn how to become semi-invisible?

[Enter] "Hello," says the tree, "Have you come for a story?" The tree smiles, or rather, the space above the tree, just at the very nook, above one of the signs, to the left over the overhanging branch. "Are you here for a story or a riddle?"
"You may call me a Cheshire cat," it begins, fading in and out of sight at random will, "but just one of many. We reside here you see. This is a nice place, and we so very much do enjoy a good riddle. Let us play a small game, if you will so indulge me. I'll give you something nice of course in return. All right, here goes the riddle"
“A… a riddle.” He answered carefully, sweeping his tail around not for the first time to clutch at it. The tip of it flicked back and forth as he waited for the question.
""What is flat but sharp at the edges?" The cat queried. He blinked, it really didn't seem much of a riddle at all until he realized there were several answers. One though, one stood out more than the one he had first leapt to.
"Paper." He said after a moment. "Paper, its flat… but its sharp on all the edges when you least expect it."

"A talking tree? No wait... a cat? Well hello?" The cat greeted him and offered up a riddle to solve, it was interesting in a way but it seemed a little to easy. "Is it your tongue? I know I chew on mine from time to time but I can't swallow it." He waited a moment and listened to the voices in his head give their own answers to the cat's riddle.

Was her name really that weird? Gabriel Santiago fiddled with her coat and blushed a bit darker when being likened to cotton candy. Maybe it was the hair? Or her new outfit either way she was starting to see that her teammate was a strangely excitable boil.
She had already gotten her treasure but now it was his turn and she would wait patently like a good party member. Even if his attempts were funny. "Y-you can do it.." She tried to encourage before peeking towards the place that the boil hinted to. "O-oh ok..." Watching him bounce away she blinked before taking a seat again and waiting. This boil was curious..
When he resurfaced she smiled and moved up to take the offered hand. "Um..well...this way looks alright?" Gabriel Santiago nodded then whispered as she walked a bit, arm pulling his, "is my name really ..s-super weird?"

The cat purrs. "All right, now it is your turn. Ask me a riddle, and give me a second to think. If I guess right however, I win. If I don't guess right, then you win, and I will give you my treasure. Come now, ask me anything. A riddle is as good as a story."
“A… riddle for you then.” He mused. “A riddle for you, ah… I know. “What serpent is seen to move day by day, yet never leaves its perch.”
The cat easily guesses your riddle, and surprisingly too. Its eyes narrow in delight. "Riddles are my nature of course I would guess right. I guess it is still too early for you, too early indeed."
Pachua's jaw dropped when the answer was guessed. His shoulders sagged and he shook his head. He'd just have to try again.

JabberWhut paused, thinking. What would make a good riddle? Treasure did seem tempting.
"So let's say we are on an island populated by knights and knaves. Knights always tell the truth and knaves always lie. They look all the same otherwise. We approach two people, A and B. A says 'We are both knaves.' What is B?"
"B is a knight." The cheshire cat grinned.
JabberWhut couldn't help but grin back. Yeah, that one was way too easy. Let's try again.

"My turn again I guess. So let's go back to knights and knaves. But let's add in jokers. Jokers are people who really just randomly answer questions. So let's see you meet three people on the road and we know for a fact that the group comprises of a knight, a knave, and a joker, but we do not know who is who. And your job is to figure that out. You have the opportunity to ask up to three yes-no questions, one put to exactly one person. They all understand English, but will respond in their own language in which yes and no are da and ja in some order. Go." That was probably the hardest logic puzzle that Jabber could think of and now that he thought about it, it really wasn't a riddle, but he hoped that the good old buddy cheshire cat wouldn't mind. After all, it was a puzzle and was a story, so who is not to say that a puzzle isn't really a riddle?
Several long minutes passed as JabberWhut's grin larger and larger. It had been worth the effort to remember that awful puzzle he had heard. Finally, a small treasure chest appeared in front of him and the cheshire cat gone before Jabber could remember to ask him how to disappear.

And it gave him the same riddle. He an exasperated sigh and this time answered the first thought he'd had.
"A knife." He said dryly, and got a satisfied purr"

"Well Chesh, my turn for a riddle. I think you might find this one quiet interesting. When can one be many and many be one?" The voices cheered slightly and laughed at the meaning behind the riddle as he spoke. Surely the cat would not be able to figure the answer out.
The cat thought for a moment and then guessed the answer, this slightly shocked the boil which caused him to step back for a moment in his defeat. "What kind of program is this?"

hellrisen wasn't one to mince words. "Yep! It really is weird, a really weird name for a really cute ghoul in a really great dream. But that's okay, I like it," he told her, as they walked out and away from his nemesis the Cheshire Cat.

"Let's try this again Cat." He waited for the cat to ask his riddle then started thinking of a reply. A couple options floated around in his mind as the voices put in their own opinions once more. It was starting to give him a headache, he was hoping he could dupe the cat this time. "I think the answer is uh.. a shadow maybe? Or your keys since mine seem to vanish without even hiding them"

"Alright, please, one more time." He said with pleading eyes. He could do this, he just had to think of a better riddle this time.
Once again the knife riddle… once again, with more confidence he said knife. Really, maybe it was just asking THAT riddle because he knew how he'd answer, though if he couldn't out riddle the cat this time he was going for a walk to think…he could come back again later.

"Now cat, riddle me this, What gets wetter the more it dries?" The cat barely even waited for him to finish before it gave the correct answer. WingsOfVengeance grumbled and kicked at the ground, this cat was way too smart. He grumbled and went to try one more time for today.
