Ray threw an arm over Desiree sleepily. It was unusually early for them, and he wasn't used to feeling this tired this early, while the clock still showed four digits. "Yeah?"

Desiree shut her eyes, glad to finally feel tired. "I love you..."

"Mm. Same here." Ray moved to kiss her, but his eyes were closed, and he missed, landing on her cheekbone. "Night."

"Night..." She held onto him tightly for a few minutes, her grip loosening only when she drifted off.

Ray was very, very much asleep. And when the clock informed him that he needed to get up, he was reluctant. And so was Desiree, evidently. He couldn't get her to unlatch from him. He tried prying the fingers off one by one, but she only tightened her grip in his sleep. "Desiree? I need to go now."

Desiree mumbled and held on tighter to Ray's shirt. "Don't go..." She buried her head into his chest and whimpered a little in her sleep.

Ray sighed and kissed Desiree's forehead. "My parents are getting up soon. I'll come back," he told her, still trying to wriggle away. "I think they'd get mad if they found me here. Probably the reason they gave us bedrooms on different floors."

Desiree murmured a quiet "I love you" as she loosened her grip ever so slightly so he could escape. "Come back soon..."

"I will. Don't worry." Ray finally managed to slip away. The mattress creaked, and his eyes flicked upwards. "I'll be back soon," he told her again, before shutting the door behind him silently and creeping back upstairs.

It was around this time that Jess woke up, her body sore and not allowing her to rest anymore. The first thing she remembered was the reason she opened her eyes in a hospital room and she glanced down instictively at her stomach, expecting it to be flat again. When she saw that she hadn't magically shrunk overnight, she frowned, but at least tried to take solace in the fact that it was only temporary.

Peter, meanwhile, was strewn across a chair, his mouth slightly open. He and his parents had had a very serious, mostly silent conversation. He was beginning to be worried again. Not that he was about to go and try to be indifferent about all of this again--he promised himself that he wasn't about to do that. But his twins were very, very real. They needed real time, and real care, and extraordinarily real expenses. And then there was that whole other matter of Jess. In a sense, she needed the same things. Peter wasn't used to that either.

"Peter?" Jess glanced around, too sore and stiff to really get up. She spied her husband flopped rather haphazardly on the bedside chair, obviously still in dreamland. Shrugging, she pulled the covers up aroudn her shoulders and just laid there, thinking to herself as she watched him sleep. It still hadn't totally sunk in that she was a mother now, but she was trying her best not to be totally shocked.

Peter's mouth closed. A few moments later, he stirred. He wasn't usually a light sleeper, but it was hard to sleep properly if you were as distracted and uncomfortable as he. When he opened his eyes, they fell directly on Jess, and he managed a slight smile. "Morning."

Jess returned the smile tiredly, beckoning him to come sit on the bed with her finger. "Good morning."

Peter found a place for himself on the edge of the bed, and without meaning to, he let out a little sigh. "We get to take them home today."
