Jess shrugged, taking her robes and bundling them in her arms. "I want to look close to the way I did before, and I hear that isn't possible without magic. It's...just a little tweaking. I'm going to be so tired taking care of the twins that I won't really be able to work out." She gave him a peck on the cheek before walking off to the loo to get changed.

Peter, who'd gotten thinner over the past few months, if anything, couldn't understand this. But he shrugged it off and waited around for Jess to get changed. He figured he might as well enjoy his day off.

Jess emerged a few minutes later, picking at her robes as she prodded them with her wand. "The good thing about having twins I suppose is that more weight is lost after they're born." She finally got her robes to shrink down to a size that wasn't as tight as she normally wore them, but at least didn't look like she was wearing a tent. She didn't want to go skin tight again until the skin underneath was no longer hiding flab. "There was a while there were I was scared I would be giving birth to a two stone baby."

Peter smiled. "You look fine," he told her again. "I don't see why you're so fussed about all of this."

Evelyn set her head on her husband's shoulder and yawned. "I want to play with my grandchildren now," she told him, sounding half-asleep and completely worn out.

Jess looked at him flatly. "Peter, you know how I feel about my looks. They're the only thing I have going for me quite honestly, and now I don't even have those." She sighed, looking down at her front. "I can't even remember when my stomach was flat."

"Hrmm?" Michael opened one eye, glancing sideways at his wife. He had the Daily Prophet spread open on his lap but he had nodded off reading it. "So go play with them."

Peter frowned. "Who told you that?" He was getting defensive again. Even though about 9 months ago, he might have privately felt the same way, there was something very insulting about Jess's low self-esteem.

"They're asleep. And I don't know where." The practical aspect of two babies was beginning to kick in now. "We still have toys, don't we? And we don't have enough clothes, either. We should get some clothes on our way home."

"Nobody told me. They don't have to." Jess took a seat on the edge of the bed, trying to straighten her back as best she could and suck in her stomach. "I'm not smart; I'm not funny; I'm not kind or caring or warm or honest or anything. I'm really just a prettier version of my mother...well, I was. At least she has a figure."

Michael chuckled tiredly, rolling his eyes in amused exasperation. "Evie, sweetheart, calm yourself. We have plenty of Peter's old toys, and the twins probably won't even notice them for a few weeks. You remember how much Peter slept when he was born." He sighed. "As for clothing...well, we'll make do. I don't see why Jess still refuses to owl her parents. They can give more than we can."

Peter sighed. "You're still much prettier than your mother, Jess. And that is saying something," he added, with a lopsided grin. "And you are smart and funny. Of course you are. And I don't see how you could think for even a second that you aren't caring. You cared for me and Gwen and Aiden, don't you? And you know you're honest, you've been honest with me this entire time, after all. And you're patient, love. You put up with me. That's saying something too."

Evelyn nodded, biting her lip. "It sounds terrible, but I wanted to owl her parents myself. Ask them to do their share, for Merlin's sake. Peter's almost never home, and you're working hard, and I've been cutting costs everywhere that I can and we're still having trouble keeping up with expenses."

Jess shrugged. "I don't know...I suppose. I don't know, perhaps I'm just feeling hormonal or something Postpartum depression or whatever the bloody hell it is." She looked up at him, feeling sort of lonely. "Can we go find the twins now?"

Michael nodded in agreement. "You're telling me. I know Jess says that they hate her, but quite honestly, they're her parents. I mean, they have to want to help at least a little bit." He rolled his neck, feeling sore from sleeping in a chair all night. "We can send Everhart tonight. He's good for a quick response."

Peter nodded and took Jess's hand lightly. "Let's go, hm?"

"Yes. I'm almost sure that they're legally obligated to do something. I've been reading up on it." Evelyn smiled. "That's awful, isn't it?"

Jess wiped her eyes, accepting his hand and pulling herself up. It was admittedly easier to do so now that she was 20 pounds or so lighter. She followed him to where the babies were napping peacefully. Seeing the two of them helped Jess's mood considerably, and she even smiled a little as she brushed the soft fine hair out of Gwen's eyes and pulled up Aiden's blanket.

"Only slightly, dear." Michael chuckled and kissed her on the forehead. "You write the letter. I think I'm a little too nice to squeeze money out of some rich snobs."

Peter smiled. "You know, I think they've both got your nose." He examined Aiden's angelic face for a few moments. "Yeah."

"I think you're a little too nice for a great many things," answered Evelyn, frowning for a second. "But that's fine. I'll write the letter to Jess' parents. Our in-laws."

"Are you saying my nose looks like a baby's?" Jess looked up at him with an obviously fake annoyed expression. She gave him that attractive little pout and batted her eyelashes.

"Our in-laws?" Michael thought on that for a moment. "But what are we to them? We aren't their siblings-in-law, or their parents-in-law. Are we their cousins-in-law?"

Peter held up his hands in his own defense. "Hey, these are very good-looking babies." He narrowed his eyes now, though, although he couldn't for the life of him keep a straight face. "Are you saying that my babies aren't good-looking?"

"We are their in-laws, Michael." Evelyn looked up at her husband with a tired smiled and chuckled to herself. "Try not to lose sleep on it, hm?"

Jess rolled her eyes, grabbing the front of Peter's robes and pulling him into a very Jessica kiss. "If I thought that would I still be snogging their father?"

"You know me too well." Michael pulled Evelyn in close, glancing down at the newspaper. "It's odd to think there's a world outside of St. Mungo's right now."
