Kaos rested his chin in his hand as he looked at his pipe, "The residents of Twilite Town aren't exactally permanent, but torturing them into doing something they don't even know is going on isn't going to get them out. Quannah... would you manage my house for a day... if you run out of ingredients to cook with then just go raid the kitchen in the manor. Chrono is already aware of you being here, so it won't get you in trouble..." Kaos rises from his chair and grabs his pipe and his cloak, "i need to go for a walk..."

Vermillion?... out of Twilite okay?" Without waiting for an answer Kaos began to leave his island when he forgot something. He turned and opened the door again, "Yuma, in two days is the Festival and then the day after i was hoping to take you down to Lillith's pond... I stocked the dresser in your room full of clothes, so you can decide what you want to wear... just thought I would let you know... Well I'm off!" He closed the door again and left his island with no further delay. his venture to The Skifting mountains would be long, but if he Airwalked it would take some time away.

"Where do you think he went Yuma?"
Yuma got to her feet heading for the door; "Quannah do you know where Twilite Town is?" Quannah got up and gave chase as Yuma finished putting her cloak on to fly. "Yuma you to messed up to even go there let alone enter that place, i've got things in my life that prevent me going in there, and i'm sure if you and Koas talked about it then sure enough you know."

Yuma looked at Quannah; "I do, but i can't let him go in there with the sorrow he still holds and the issues he has buried." Yuma walked out the door and Quannah followed; "I won't let you go there Yuma, i challenge you to a duel, and if you take my head then you can go there."

Yuma turned around; "I'm not going to fight you Quannah." Quannah summoned her spear; "Then i will leave you with no choice but to."

Yuma looked displeased, but she summoned her two swords; "Do you really want it to end this way Quannah?" Quannah laughed; "You are not going to win, i've had decades down here to learn how to take care of myself."

			            ~In the Manor~
Shortly after Lucid left Akuma awoke to another wonderful morning of training... without a trainer! she did her morning stretches, got dressed and went downstairs for a quick breakfast when she saw a note on the counter. she picked it up and read it out loud,
"Akuma, don't you DARE eat breakfast, for this week you will be working on your endurance. As a demon you have a higher endurance then a human and on average you are supposed to be able to go without food for at least three weeks. well, we only have a week, and you were raised by mainly humans, so we're going to wean you off of your bad habits. start down in the training room and after you've spent 5 hours down there working whatever you need you can have an apple. try not to drink water; you can have a pint every three hours, only if needed! good luck, and I'll be home soon. If Tsume doesn't stay up here on Enthelda than he will be keeping an eye on you. so dont slack off!
 ~ Chrono Abyss

P.S. if your father has time you should send him up here... check to see if he's home before you go."

she sighs and puts her bowl and milk back..."So much for breakfast..." After she moped around the house for a while she hooked the scythe around her body and went up to her father's house...

 ~On the Island~

"What the HELL are you two doing!!!" Akuma shouted over the clashing blades, "And have you seen my Father, he's wanted on Enthelda..."

Quannah didn't let her guard down but answered Akuma. "He's gone to Twilite Town, but what he is doing exactly i do not know." I got word that several factions against the abyss family have gone there to force the tortured souls there to join their ranks. I brought the word here and just so happened to complete two objectives in one. I thought Sorrow here was a permanent resident like myself, and was going to ask her to join our ranks to help support your family's rule in the Abyss."
Yuma roared back at Quannah; "You're in my way, i should already be there and keeping him from doing something stupid! I'm through playing games, i'm going to kill you if you don't step aside."

Quannah laughed; "You can try, I doubt you have it in you to do it Yuma."

"Forgive me Toole..." Yuma waited for the exposed hand and with a smile she cut it deeply, and spinning in close her outside blade came around to wound the other hand. Quannah made her pay for it with a kick to the guts that propelled her forward. Yuma sumersaulted back onto her feet. "The next time we clash it will be your head?"

Quannah laughed; "You think so, i doubt detrich or SalSoon will enjoy that too much, and imagine that they are right over there. She wants a workout, don't let Yuma leave this Island." Detrich and SalSoon donned their weapons, and Yuma smiled and engaged without fear, a realishment for the challenge.

Quannah moved over to where Akuma had landed; "Master Koas left me in charge of the house when he left, i'd imagine he wouldn't want her going there after him, and she admitted she wasn't ready so this is why were fighting.

Akuma smirked, "Call your men off... this is like what my sister would do every time my dad went into town." Akuma advanced to the battlefield and gave Sorrow a stern look, "Sit!" Her voice echoed in Sorrows mind and her legs automatically turned to jelly. Akuma then threw a barrier around her and turned to Quannah, "There is a little gap just wide enough to fit a dinnerplate and just tall enough to fit a hand through. you can send her food through it... i'll be back by morning."
She turned and walked to the edge of the island, then turned back and looked at Quannah, "Y'know... you're all getting worked up about nothing... after Chrono dies there will be nothing left of the Abyss family... so I don't see what the problem is."
Then dove off of the edge of the island and took off after her father.

Yuma only muttered after Akuma was gone; "Keep it burning Akuma, when it is gone, I too will turn my back and leave my hatred binding you.'

Kaos arrives at the Iron gates of Twilite Town and leaps over the top. The creepy abandoned institution creaked in the soft cool wind. As he began the walk up the pathway to the door, two little harpy children happily ran around him a few times then dashed off into the yard. Kaos stopped and smiled admiring their play. He began to slip into his childhood when a sudden sharp pain triggered in his mind and brought him back to reality.
“Gah… I‘m in for a long night…” he muttered to himself as he continued his journey. Once he reached the steps of the Twilite the children appeared in front of the door. They were twin harpies with light brown wings. Kaos smiled at them and asked, “May I go in?” The twins exchanged glances and shook their heads. “Hmmm,” He sat on the steps and looked at the sky, “Want me to tell you both a story?” The twins quickly huddled up along side him on the steps and listened attentively. Kaos rested his arms on either side of the two and cleared his throat, “Well, long ago there was a beautiful princess named Lillia. She had long flowing blond hair and dazzling deep mahogany eyes. Her skin was soft as silk and as white as snow. Day in and day out she sat in the window and watched the stars… one day her father Chrono came upstairs and asked her what she was looking at and she didn’t reply, but she began humming a familiar tune that Chrono‘s wife Lust used to hum to their children. “Ah” he said, “thinking of your mother?” she smiled and said, “nope, someone else…” Chrono sat there for a long time and couldn’t think of anyone else who would know the song. So he left… ”

Kaos got up and began to leave, but he didn’t get far before the twins began to follow. He turned and looked at them, “What’s wrong? ”

They both gave him the same funny look and replied, “you didn’t finish the story.” Kaos laughed and patted their heads, “What‘s your names?”

They looked at each other and then back at him, and the one on the left said, “Well I‘m Xack and this is Bri…”

Kaos smiled, “oh, what lovely names. There‘s a story behind those names too…”

Bri pouted, “…But you never finished your last story…”

Kaos lifted her chin to face him, “Well Bri, I‘ll make a deal with you and your brother, okay?”

 They both nodded.

“If you both guide me through the Institute I will tell you the story as we travel.” Kaos looked at them as they discussed with each other, then came back to him

 “Promise?” Xack asked.

 “Promise.” Kaos smiled.

They each took one of Kaos’s hands and pulled him toward the door to Twilite.

Quannah came back over to Sorrow after her hands were fixed. "Tell me why it was so important you go there knowing you were most likely to fail?"
Sorrow didn't answer, she just sat there staring forward, and avoiding Quannah's eyes when the dragon tried to move her eyes into the line of Sorrow's vision.

"You can keep this up all you want Yuma, but sooner or later Master Koas is going to see you like this and ask questions."

Sorrow still refused to say anything so Quannah tried changing subjects to something else.

"How is my brother doing, and has he found a mate yet to fill that house?"

Sorrow still refused to answer, and just closed her eyes.

Quannah grumbled and walked away to go talk to people who would actually talk back with her in a conversation.

They wandered through the halls dodging the sight of random guards patrolling with their hell hound watch dogs. Bri squeezed his hand and wimpered, “I‘m scared… they‘re going to bite my arm again…”
Kaos knelt down beside her and brought her into an embrace, “don’t worry dear I wont let anyone get you.”
He grabbed both their hands again and the ran downstairs to the cells. Kaos looked around, “For this being a place of research it sure seems more like a fortress…”

Xack sighed, “it‘s research alright, but its research on the affects harpy tears have on certain diseases.”

Kaos gave Xack a disturbed look and muttered, “But Harpies hardly ever cry… how could they get enough tears…”

Bri looked up at Kaos and laughed, “it‘s simple… the breed them. Once the female produces a child they take them to the chamber and do something to them and when they come back out the mother is crying, but no tears can fall…”

Kaos shuttered at the thought of what they do in there, then was re awoken by someone pulling his arm, “Hey Kaos… do you know anyone named Kaosti?”

Kaos looked at her funny and shook his head, “No I don’t… sorry love… why did he hurt you?”

“No, he plays with us from time to time. He‘s a very nice child and is kind of cute too,” Bri hid her face in her sleeves, but not well enough to hide the blushing.

Xack brought them into a dark room away from the main corridors and locked the door, “Okay, tells another portion of the story…”

Kaos smiled and sat down Indian style on the floor. Bri quickly snuggled up to him, but Xack pulled up a chair and waited for Kaos to begin.

“The next morning Lord Chrono walked out to his wife‘s garden and noticed Lillia and Nobu walking along the forest‘s edge. They were laughing and holding hands. “ so that‘s who she was thinking about last night… but they‘re practically brother and sister. They can‘t be together…” Chrono thought to himself as he approached the two. Nobu quickly hid their hands behind his back and smiled, “Hello Chrono, beautiful morning we‘re having.” Chrono nodded and sighed, “Indeed it is… might I ask what you think you’re doing? ” His gaze on Nobu became rather sharp and vicious. Nobu flinched knowing he was in trouble, but bravely replied, “just walking with Lillia by the Madridt forest…” Chrono nodded and just as he was about to as him something else he heard his wife call from the kitchen, “Chrono Sweetie, I need you to come here and help me with something.” As much as Chrono loved his wife he knew she was doing this just to irritate him, but he obeyed and left the two to their walk.” Kaos smiled and stood up, “So who‘s in charge of this place?”

They glared at him for stopping the story, but replied anyways, “Simon Len was the last one to run this place, but rumors are going around that he was locked away, and held there by the threat that if he left they would kill his wife…”

Sorrow worked on the issues in her life, since she had time, and she couldn't go anywhere to take her mind off them she just took care of them.
"Yuma this is SalSoon, would you like anything to drink?"

Sorrow opened her eyes now that her concentration was broken she looked at the feet of the dragon to confirm identiy and then looked back without answering.

SalSoon tried again. "So what do you think of Akuma?"

Yuma looked at SalSoon's eyes; "I think she is no different then any ruler, powerful, and full of great ideas for her people. However, its not the power or the ideas that will write her legacy, it will be souls such as mine and yours who will write that tale, and personally speaking I'm going to ride the fence when i get here before joining any side."

SalSoon turned her head to ask the question why; "Why do you find it so hard to just agree with her?"

Yuma looked forward again; "If I jump when she says jump, then i'm admitting to myself i'll always be second class no matter how much i try to improve."

SalSoon shook her head; "Yuma if you think equaling her level in ability will somehow change her opinion of you then you're sadly mistaken. I would not like you, because you go off on your own when you should be working as a team. She will always be my superior, and in time yours as well. So figure it out Yuma, but you can choose to butt heads on a constant basis and end up in situations like this; or learn to work together and be a asset to her when/or if she calls for you. That is saying something in itself. If Akuma was to ask for your help then you know you're not second class, and that she respects you."

Yuma sighed; "Go away and leave me alone." SalSoon grumbled turning to leave; "Think it over Yuma, you don't like that box, then think of what put you in it, and don't do it again."

Kaos cringed, “That’s horrible… where is Simon? Better yet, where’s his wife? ” Kaos pulled Bri to her feet and Xack leaped off his chair and answered, “We don’t know… or we would be trying to help him. He’s the one who keeps everyone sane around here anyways… and whoever the intruders are, they sure are causing a lot of trouble. The people here were in enough distress, now they’re basically hopeless. ”
Bri sighed, “They‘ve also gained control of a lot of Hell Hounds, and Soul Eaters… which is bad… ”

Kaos hugged Bri and Xack, “I promise I will get you both out of here, unharmed, but we need to get moving if we have any hopes of saving Miss Holy, okay.”

They both nodded and took his hand, and they snuck out of the room and ran down the corridor to hide down a hallway from the guards. Xack turned around and noticed the hallway was a dead end, but something was moving in the shadows, “Kaos, I think we‘re in trouble…”

Kaos looked over his shoulder and saw a snake like movement in the far corner. He pulled Bri and Xack close to him and felt them shaking in his arms. Bri began to cry and Xack held a hand over her mouth to muffle her cries. Kaos began to panic and whispered, “ Chrono walked into the kitchen and kissed his beautiful wife, “yes dear?” Lust was glaring at her husband with her hands on her hips, “You leave those two alone! They‘re cute together and if they are in love… Let it be.” Chrono frowned, “Lust… you know I don’t agree with this at all… they’re brother and sister…” “In what way Chrono! Nobu has none of you blood in his veins… nor mine!” Chrono sighed and walked out the door, “What if she falls in love with someone else…” Lust threw a fork at him and misses him by an inch, “Just leave!” Chrono hung his head in defeat and left the house…”

“Kaos its moving toward us…” Xack whimpered as tears ran down his face…

Kaos glared and put out his hand. An orb of white light appeared and lit up the a section of the corridor. He chucked the orb down the hall and saw the room explode into light revealing an open room with a dragon in it, “We might be amongst friends children…” Kaos let go of them and grabbed their hands, beginning their slow decent down the hall.

Vermillion lay on a huge pile of wings and shredded limbs. They were the recent victims; they were the ones who took him away from his daughter and wife. They were responsible for this place, this hell he was in, and why he was always cold. So cold he shivered and moaned as nightmares came in sleep and in the waking hours.
The light was like knives stabbing at his eyes. He roared his fury coming to his feet trying to stomp it out. Huge clouds of dust rising and he always got close enough to knock it away with the air rushing out from under his feet as they struck. "No more, no more pain, I want mary, I want mary, and I want to see my daughter." Vermillion crushed the orb, and settled back down mumbling.
