Ugh, not the tail-flailing again! How he wished she would stop swinging around! He hardly needed to be told when she asked for him to let go. He turned his head sideways and down as far as he could stand so that her horn slid along to the end of his. When she dropped, he snapped up so quickly and easily that he could have sworn he was lighter than air. The relief was unbelievable, but he'd have a hell of a neckache later, and probably his back and knees as well. He'd deal with it when it happened, though. Right now, his main concern was that he hadn't gotten the girl hurt. "Are you all right?" he called down into the darkness.

She only dropped about a foot before she hit the ground. Not knowing where it was made in almost impossible to brace herself against the impact, so she crumpled when she hit the bottom. "Ow...lets not do that again." She said to herself. Hearing Shay call down to her, she remembered why she was there. "I'm fine!" She called back, "I just landed a little funny. I only dropped another foot or so...But it's too dark for me to really see anything."
So she waited for her eyes to adjust to the dark...dropping down into that darkness was one of the most unnerving things she had done...

Chanda somehow made her way and caught up to the group, though she still had little idea where her two companions had gotten to. The hole along with the 'backup' group of herla made her laugh as she realised the situation. The hind tossed her head, the armour on her shoulder clinking delightfully. "How funny.. That the backup group should be the ones doing all the work.. While the main group goes on ahead.."

Though she had immediately shifted course when the little things disappeared and Charlotte started digging, Benholz had been just far enough away from the entire situation that when her precognition finally caught up with her and informed her that there was a big hole, she didn't even manage a "Look out" before the earth crumbled. Pulling up short at the edge of the pit just as Shayann let go of the young doe he had been supporting by...the antlers?...she looked at Charlotte and Shay before crouching and dipping her head down to get a better look at Merala.
"What do you see?" she asked curiously. Then she wondered suddenly about getting the doe out. That would be...a mess. A large mess. Yes.

Lumi followed after the group, Heret along with her. She stopped short ang just managed to stop before bumping into the herla's and possibly tossing them over, she quickly made sure Heret stopped as well. She looked down into the hole, it wasn't so deep... maybe they could use their antlers to dig and loosen the earth?

As the dust cleared and her eyes adjusted, Merala could see the room dimly. It was rather small, only about 5 body lengths one way, and 4 the other. The walls looked to be made up mostly of dirt and what looked to be stone, but wasn't, as was the ceiling. From the glow of the sunlight streaming down from the hole, eyes could be seen all around Merala. And, behind the shining eyes, a pile could be seen. A pile of, what looked to be, stockings.
((YAYS!!!!! *does a happy dance* Now, let's get this thing finished up!))

"guys....GUYS! The stockings are down here! We found them!!" Merala called up to the waiting Herla, excitement making her dance in place. "Umm..." she paused, looking at all of the critters in the hole with her, "it looks like all the little furry things are down here too."
Taking a step forward Merala watched the eyes of the creatures follow her silently. 'Hmm...' she thought to herself, 'they took the stockings for a reason. If we take them without giving anything in return they may steal them again.' So reaching into to her magical Bottle Cap pocket(as all Herla have this) she removed enough bottlecaps to provide each creature with one. As an offering. 'Hopefully this will be enough to stop them from mobbing me when we remove the stockings.' She slowly made her way to the pile of stockings, watching for the critters reaction to both the bottle caps and her attempt to remove a stocking.
'That's very generous of you Merala...how odd' came the sarcastic voice of her guardian.
'Not really', she thought back. 'I'm just making sure this altercation doesn't happen again. Now do something useful and think of a way for me to get out of here.'
'Well, I think being pulled out of here by your horn is a quick way to yank the head off your shoulders...so maybe something different this time. Why don't you ask the Herla outside if there is a large log laying about in the near forest? They could slide it down and prop it up like a ramp. I think I saw a Herla with paws up there, he could probably manage the log better than most and help you get the stocking out of here.'
'That's a good idea...how odd.' Merala turned her attention away from her guardian to call out to Shay, and the other Herla standing around the opening. She explained her guardian's plan to them. "What do you guys think? It's a pretty sound plan to me."
She waited for their reply, watching the fluffy creatures in the hole with her.

After thinking that plan through a bit more, and seeing visions of herself squashed by a giant log, Merala figured maybe that wasn't the best idea. "Uh....never mind that guys, i'll just start bringing the stockings to the hole where you can grab them. Someone start thinking of a better way to get me out."
Walking over to the pile of stockings Merala began grabbing them with her mouth and picking some up with her horn. Making her way to the hole, she braced her front feet against the dirt wall and propped herself up as high as she could, straining her neck and head so someone could crab the stockings.

Maybe it was a good thing, in the end, that the trio were the only ones who could see the trinket show they put on. They must've looked awfully silly. Still, never once did it cross the buck's mind that maybe they weren't doing the right thing. The only thing that bothered him ever so slightly was the way his tail began to quiver after holding it so low. He'd gotten so use to holding it a bit above his shoulders that his muscles weren't really ready to hold the weight of his improved tail up. He'd have to work on that.
"Did you see that?" Ears perked, he glanced to what he thought could've been one of the creatures. It also could've been the glint of thir little collection bouncing off of a leaf. ...infact, that seemed a lot more likely. It was because his ears being out, though, that he managed to catch a few words from the group infront of them. What was that? Something about the...
"...stockings? Was that just me?" For just a second he was still, tilting his ears towards where he thought he'd heard the voices. Why did it sound like there was an echo, though? That couldn't be right.

Taz scanned the ground and listened carefully. "I didn't see anything. Might have heard a voice, though. Sounded excited, like they found the stockings? That's good. Wonder if they found the creatures too..." she trailed off, trying to hide her dissapointment. Although she hadn't come up with the idea, she had been so sure it would work. She should have run ahead faster instead of tarrying. She should have polished her rig more. No matter. At least they were nearly there. She could almost see the other herla now, still a ways off. There seemed to be a... massive hole? Could that be right? Looked like they had been busy.
She heard a quick rustle to the side. The buck's tail must be dragging, she thought, glancing back. How odd though, that both the Pearl and the Scorpion were running on the opposite side from the sound she heard.

Rook hung back as the doe was lowered into the yawning hole -- rather awkwardly, it seemed, though he couldn't really think of a better or more comfortable way to do it... (opposable thumbs, my dear, evolve them) ... and of course his Guardian was not making much sense. As usual. He was more than a little nervous, though, with a large portion of the search party so close. While nothing seemed to be caving in anymore, too many hooves on the soil could loosen it and make it unstable again. He hoped fervently that his worries were unfounded.
Still, better him than a larger or heavier buck -- when Merala lifted a few stockings out of the hole, Rook gingerly stepped forward, placing each hoof with care as he approached the edge of the existing hole. He wouldn't want to dislodge any more earth onto her. Arching his head and neck forward, he took as many as he could from her -- a muffled "sorry" as their muzzles brushed, in any other situation a wholly awkward contact with a doe he barely knew. He turned his head and dropped the stockings safely away from the hole, then turned back to take the ones hanging from her horn.

Lumi watched as the Doe lifted up a single stocking in her mouth, going at that rate this would take forever. She gingerly walked up towards the hole, careful of where she stepped since she knew how easilly a landslide could happen... even if it was only a few feet's drop off. She nudged Rook at an attempt to get his attention. "Would you like a little help?"
Lumi figured that with her reindeer styled horns she could get maybe two or three out at a time, Or if they wouldn't fit that way, she could always do the same thing Rook was doing.

If Taz was hiding her disappointment, Makaio's was camouflaged beneath curiosity and excitement. It would've been immature and even uncouth to let anyone know just how upset he really, honestly was. And in all honesty, it hadn't ruffled his feathers all that much. He had just been so certain...! But it was no time to dwell. When he noticed Taz advancing away from him, he remained where he was for a few stubborn seconds, scanning the underbrush for one of the creatures. Then, with a resolute sigh, he nudged the Pearl's shoulder.
"Come on, pretty boy," he urged with a gentle lilt, nodding towards the direction where he heard the others, not so far away. "Let's see if they need any help, mmm?"

"It's fine." Merala murmured back to the buck taking the stalkings from her mouth. "We just need to get these things out of here before the critters decide they want to keep them." Raising her voice so those around the hole could here her,"Anyone that wants to take some should, i'll try to get as many as i can each time."
Relieved of her current burden, Merala returned to the dwindling pile to grab more. Watching the fluffy animals play with their new shiny toys, Merala hoped they would be entertained long enough for her and the other Herla to leave.

(Marge is totally just guessing what's going on from the last few pages. >.< She's been too distracted by rl to rp, sorry guys.)
Heret warily stood back from the hole. The very idea of him falling into a hole and not being able to see to get out of it or the idea of suddenly falling without warning was enough to have him kicking at the ground nervously. "Does it look like they're all there?" He asked softly, frowning lightly.
