Okay, so maybe there'd been an instance or two before when skirts got involved, but Shae didn't particularly want to remember those if she could avoid it. Normally, reuniting with Kanda would've been a welcome, appreciated thing, too-- and it was in a way-- but... God, just what was this sense of awkwardness making her feel so uncomfortable?

Maybe it was the fact that he seemed as lost as she did about the whole situation-- or the gleeful hookers in the backdrop beaming over their 'work'.

"I still say she makes a better little prince," one whispered to another very audibly. Said 'other' just chuckled.

"Well, that can be tomorrow. I think she's a doll like this, too."

"... They... didn't," Shae, trying so valiantly to ignore them, muttered as convincingly as she could. "Although I-- I think I'm a little tired..."

Which was, of course, discrete code for 'PLEASE LET ME ESCORT YOU UPSTAIRS AND OUT OF THE PUBLIC EYE' that he'd hopefully catch onto.

It wasn't a lie, either, except--

"Oh, about that--" one FAR too helpful hooker piped up, much to the halfbreed's dread. "You know... I'm sure we could make arrangements to let you both have a room down here, if it'd be easier for you.... you know, what with being so banged up an' all, and those tall, awful stairs..."

"... Well at least that's a start." At least having her own trousers was good, since Yossarian's own would've been difficult to fit in properly. That aside, though... well, Shae's bag was actually a far ways off to go fetch while she was purring against his side, so he'd bother with it later.

He was still irritated in some part of himself, but holding onto it was pointless, so... he might as well try to 'enjoy' what they had in the here and now, stuck on a foreign bedroll on a whorehouse loft in a country they'd only just begun to explore, with her at his side.

It could've been worse.

At least Jade and that loathsome therapist hadn't bothered them too terribly much since arrival, and the moans were at a level vaguely 'easy' to ignore, and no one had shot at them AGAIN since the odd 'dinner' incident...

It was probably a good time to decompress and crash while they still had a chance, in his book-- though that didn't mean he couldn't take a little while to do the 'affectionate' thing and kiss her cheek, either. Yes, restraint was one thing, but letting go was another, and he could do a little bit of both, too.

Kanda didn't seem all that bothered by Shae joining him either. If anything, he understood her desire to sit in the place that WAS CLOSE AND SOFT than having to take a few more steps to sit in the place that wasn't currently occupied.

However, while Shae fumbled with her 'makeover', Kanda was busying himself with changing the bandaging on his foot (albeit horribly slowly.. stupid injured-hand was giving him some problems in working. :C). Yeah, that took a whole agonizing...

Hey, if she could be quiet about her purring in response to 'cuddling', she was all for being rewarded for it! Heck, she didn't even squeak with surprise when it came to lay-down time. She was getting used to the fact that yes, going to bed on his part often meant she was going with him.

If only so she wouldn't wander off while he was sleeping to possibly be blown up.

However, Aster was more inclined to use Yossarian as a pillow than the one on the bed, snuggling her head against his shoulder and prrprrprring. Dear god, she was going to end up passing on her prrprrs biologically. Then Yossarian would be TRAPPED WITH PRRPRRRS FOREVER. Maybe.

Perhaps she was thinking a little too far ahead with that.....

"It WOULD be nice if they'd be quiet.." she agreed.

...Twenty minutes.

It took Kanda TWENTY MINUTES to change is own damned bandages. fa;hfaskf. He wanted his functioning back.

Apparently the Kanus women had somehow anticipated a 'swift' dispatch of their hair decorations and thus barricaded Shae's ponytail with some kind of odd triple-knot combo that took a full ten minutes to unravel. Maybe if she hadn't felt so awful and her fingers had been steady, plowing through it would've gone faster... but at least it had FINALLY come out, and her overly groomed hair fell back around her ears in a damp, ragged veil. As for the makeup... well, one of the benefits to being in a country where bare skin barely existed at all was a lack of products to stay on it, and the dusty powders came off with just a few scrubs against her sleeve.

There... now she at least felt a little more real. Sick, but real.

She finished up just before he'd fought his last bandage into place... and now it seemed that they were both wound down enough to exhale properly, thank god. Briefly, she contemplated getting up again... and finally did, if only to go flick off the singular, dim loft light and plunge them all into a more proper darkness.

There... now they could all just tune out the moaning and sleep, with Yossarian and Ma'am off on their side of the room together, Sir having found his bedroll, and herself...

Well, maybe she'd just drag hers over next to his before flinging her feeble corpse into it. Maybe it was one of those guilty nights she felt like sleeping a little closer than usual, but at least it would make up for any crowding, right?

If Yossarian heard the covers being dragged over there (above the shuddering through the rafters, that was), though, he didn't comment on it. Antagonism was something he'd moved past; all that mattered was the here and now, and the vaguely plush bedding underneath him, and one lightly purring warm body curled up against his shoulder.

In a perfect world, they would've been alone, and the moans would've all died away, but...

"Oh well," he actually shrugged it off right then, exhaling slowly, audibly. "Things are well enough as is."

As if to prove his point, he leaned over, and planted a kiss right on her lips in the dark-- one of those unusual, rare, vaguely drawn out affairs-- before leaning back into the pillow again, and shutting his eyes.

Thinking be damned. Right now, sleep sounded just fantastic.

Kanda was more inclined to sprawl out under his 'covers', flexing his toes a little bit (if only to feel the numb pain in his foot) and frowning up at the ceiling. Eventually, the doctor-terrors would come upstairs. Then their strange little life of stuff would continue.

Possibly with another day in the Kanus-town. Maybe Kanda could talk Jade into a DIFFERENT place of residence the next morning. 'HAE U, CAN WE SLEEP SOMEWHERE THAT DOESN'T MOAN AND VIBRATE ALL NIGHT?'

It would go over swimmingly.

Though on the other side of the room, Aster had half-a-mind to prrprr so loudly it'd put all them moanin' whores to shame! But no, she was a good girl and just kept herself from getting TOO touchy-feely in return. (However, Yoyo's butt probably got assaulted in the meantime.)

She was at least good enough to not throw a fit for 'I WANT MOAR' when he pulled away from her, instead just curling up against him, her ear pressed against his chest. Maybe that would silence the lot fooling around downstairs.

Sleep INDEED sounded quite nice...prrprrprrr.

Kanda was more than accommodating in sharing his space, really. Not that he was hogging much of it, but he even assisted with half-dragging the bedding over to a position next to him before he 'officially' laid down.

Streeeetttcchhh.

Sleeping somewhere different would've been pretty nice... though Shae would've rather still camped out here than in the street, so it could've been worse, too. Finally collapsed underneath her own covers (after a weary mumble of thanks, that was), she wasted no time curling up beneath the cocoon of blankets, burying her face in her pillow, and letting sweet sleep beat her unconscious.

"... Nnn... n-night, Kanda..." she half-coherently bid her companion, already clearly past cognicent.

It didn't take her sixty seconds until she was out. Cold. Changing into normal clothes could wait until morning, as could every other worry on her agenda.

The fact that Yossarian had actually gotten a mild GROPING (... come on, she wasn't usually that brazen) actually startled him somewhat; he was just too tired to jump. Still... They were all settled, and before he knew it, the sound of the moaning dimmed a little, and his body felt heavier, and his breath slowed down as he slowly, slowly slipped off to some dreamless slumber.

Sure, there'd certainly be trouble tomorrow that they'd have to deal with... but that was then, and this was now.

He liked now.

... And thus, time passed-- though not a terrible lot of it, for a little someone else was in store before midnight, as 'business' in the brothel continued steadily, customers passed in and out through the hours, and a single, weathered looking figure quietly limped their way in, out of the elements.

She looked absolutely unlike herself-- so much so, in fact, that the woman who greeted her actually halted mid-sentence and made a face, suddenly unsure what to say... and just moved aside as she was walked past.

To see Hanna wearing anything but a smile was peculiar, let alone such a grave expression as she carried now, heaving a particularly worn sigh as she let her jacketed shoulders sag, and brushed a shaking hand through her slightly damp, oddly shabby bangs.

Looked like she had had the longest day of them all, huh.

(... Whatever the hell had been involved in it.)

"nnn."

It was as close to 'good night' as Kanda could muster, given how damn tired he was feeling with a sore and very pathetically patched-up body.. and figuring how much damned EXCITEMENT they'd managed to pack into one whole day.

Not fun.

But it wasn't too long after Shae that Kanda also dozed off, his ears flattened against his head to silence the thumping from down stairs.

Aster, on the other paw, had practically been kept up half the night by the sound of 'thump thumps' and other noises from downstairs, frowning down through the floor and feeling her tail puff up beyond belief.

Wauugh ;A;.

Even in the arms of her EVER SO VALIANT AND STRONG AND SLEEPING lover (well, 'lover'. That title technically implied they did stuff they hadn't yet...), Aster took the longest to finally get to sleep, pulling the blanket up over her head to muffle the sound for her other ear...

It would still be some time after she fell asleep that Hanna returned.

Much to Jade's surprise.

Not that Hanna had returned, but that she'd returned seeming frazzled more than anything else. This would require some inquiry on his part.

Peace, peace, all around... sans just a couple of schemers downstairs. For some entirely incomprehensible reason, Hanna hadn't expected Jade to still be loitering downstairs-- and yet, no, it made sense enough when she paused to think it over. Surely, he'd been wringing... information... out of every lady in the house throughout the day, and loving every minute or it.

At the sight him, however, she did force some thin semblence of her usual pleasantness, putting her hands in her pockets and straightening up as far as her spine would let her.

"... 'Evening there, Stranger." It seemed almost like an unintentional mockery, that kind of casual nicety coming from someone so ghastly looking. Her eyes weren't even focussed on him in particular, but something off in his general direction that surely couldn't be that interesting.

"How was business?..."

Such a wonderfully vague term for it, too.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 28, 2009 7:57 pm

Vague was a good way to put that. No really. 'Business' was probably as loose of a term as could be put to what was probably Jade being 'loose' as well. The whore.

Well, not quite so much. But he probably had picked up something all brand new! Yick. He'd know about THAT soon enough. (How disturbing).

However, Hanna's greeting did earn a chuckle out of Jade. "I wouldn't be the one labelling 'strangers' with how long you've been gone. Even dear Kanda got worried and went out to look for you~" he cooed in a way that would have made Langston proud and made Kanda gag.

Oh no, the swordsman wouldn't want grief about THAT in the morning.

However, that wasn't on the colonel's list of concerns at the moment, the man gesturing with an arm to the stairwell. "I would think you would be better off getting some rest at this time, before we discuss anything about what I've discovered today."

Hopefully the flexibility of Kanus wasn't on that list of discoveries.

"Did he now?..." Whether those words were genuine or some dreadful satire remained a mystery, as Hanna's expression belied nothing to suggest either one, her thin, almost disinterested smile remaining unshaken. "How very kind of him, concerned for my sake like that..."

She trailed off there, seemingly lost amidst some thought in a far away land... but came to again when she caught his gesture in the corner of her eye, and sighed another of those thin, thin sighs, turning her eyes back on him.

"You know what they say, though..." she mumbled on in a very odd tone, making a little sound that could've been a chuckle, though it was very dry, short, and humorless. "No rest for the wicked... and besides, I feel like a drink."

That was definitely a request straight out of a left field-- and she didn't even wait three seconds before sliding right on past the staircase she should've been trekking up instead. "Facilities like these just have to have a liquor cabinet somewhere, don't you think?..."

Yeah, because she didn't look totally trashed and hungover-ish already (... even if there was no alcohol on her breath).
PostPosted: Sat Nov 28, 2009 9:14 pm

Fu fu fu~!

Certainly Jade was wicked enough to know a thing or two about a lack of rest, now wasn't he? Though he didn't exactly seem tired either, so one had to wonder just how much 'rest' he'd been getting.

Perhaps he just ran on pure wickedness. That was probably a good explanation for his energy efficiency.

Possibly.

However, Jade wasn't one to pass up the opportunity to chat and PLOT EVVIIILLLYYY with his best co-conspirator, following along after Hanna (perhaps out of some desire to make sure she didn't explode with woe of some sort) as the ever so wonderful

HUNT

FOR

began. It was going to be fun. Not to mention he was sure one of the girls would just be CHARMED to help him find it.

Of course the midnight hour meant that business was booming (or howling) within practically every "guest" room of the building, and even Hanna's ears, ill perceiving though they might've been, failed to miss those toxic moans of pleasure beyond. What a job that must have been... but she wasn't going to dwell on that.

Still, there were a couple of "off duty" girls idling around near the back of the complex fussing around the 'kitchen' area, and they had to stop and stare at the walking would-be roadkill hobbling in... only to immediatley backpedal, gush, and giggle fondly at the man on her heels.

Funny how Jade's presence alone made them so much more companionable to interact with.

"... All I'm looking for is something with a fair kick," the therapist explained in her best parody of an energetic tone. "No particular flavor."

"Tch, well then..." one girl sighed, standing on the tip-toes of her heeled shoes to reach in some pantry cabinet and pull out... a glass bottle of something clear as water. "How about some of this? Vodka one of the others brought in, I think..."

"That... will be just fine, thank you."

"And yoooou, Mister Jaaade?" the other girl cooed in a sickeningly sweet voice, fluttering her lashes and leaning towards him just the tiniest bit. "We've some rather fine spirits in house for the more... refined palette, you know."

... If Hanna was paying attention to the whore's antics at that point, she gave no sign of it, just wearily, blearily rifling about to get a couple of glasses from the cupboards.

Oh yes, Mistah Jade was oh so popular with the wimmenz it seemed. However, this simply served to amuse Jade more than please him.

After all, they only liked him 'cause he happened to be a foreigner with an extra appendage in his pants. (yes, you may snicker immaturely, Lover).

"What Hanna is having is fine." he said nonchalantly. Really, it didn't matter to him either; Alcohol was alcohol, for 'refined' tastes or not. If he really HAD been so refined, he probably wouldn't have spent so long chatting up the whores behind closed doors.

One could assume far too much from that!

Not that he really cared either way of the opinions that could be garnered from his activities.

"But thank you for the offer." he added with just the riiiight smidgen of charm to his words.

;D ;D ;D.

However, following this he went to go and loom by Hanna for company. REJECTED FOR THE THERAPIST!

"... If you say so." As could only be expected, the young woman offering was severely disappointed to have her 'hospitable' offering shot down, pouting almost childishly before she shrugged it off again. "But if you change your mind, you know I'm just a holler away, alright?..."

Clearly this was an invite to come play with her later, but she couldn't drag it out any further, and shuffled off to go take her business elsewhere. The other whore returned to whatever cabinet rifling she'd been up to beforehand, and Hanna, now having procured the appropriate glasses and liquor, muttered her (mostly unacknowledged) thanks, mustering her best bow of gratitude before taking her leave again. Where to?

Why, one of the 'guest' rooms, of course!

She figured no one would mind, anyway, and it didn't take more than a few seconds' listen outside the doors to pick out one that had no occupants near the end of the hall. A twist of the knob and a light shove brought the interior room into view: a small, but cosy (and thankfully CLEANED UP... for now) room with wood floors, a 'seductive' fur rug, a nice wide bedroll slightly off to one side, and a very small, low square table where one or two people could comfortably sit crosslegged to have refreshments.

Nothing like a good drink and a bang for the customers, yeah?

"... I've always been fascinated... by this sort of work, you know," she commented in a dry, idle tone, wasting no time to take a 'seat' by that little square table, arrange the glasses, and open the bottle up to pour them full-- quite a lot of alcohol for someone as small as herself (and looking even less there than usual), though she sipped at it as casually as one would sip a glass of tea. "The psychological effect it has on a person... the circumstances behind winding up here, on the giving... or receiving end..."

Aaah, the joys of a good ramble-- and to think, she wasn't even drunk yet, taking a breath to cough into her sleeve, and washing the mineral-y bitterness down with another swig.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 29, 2009 2:09 pm

Jade chuckled a bit as he took up the seat in the room of Hanna's choice (such a strange room. But they all were, in a sense), settling in in a nice spot by his fellow psychoanalyst and sipping at the glass he was drinking from.

Not exactly the strongest of all liquor, but perhaps he simply had some sort of immunity to it. Yes, he'd obviously had a bit much to drink in his lifetime. But he WAS quite the older gentleman, so he knew about that.

Even if he'd waited until the 'legal' limit.

"I imagine in a society where our occupations aren't as big of a need and everybody is quite the happy individuals, this is simply another method of 'collecting' to their race.

Kanus seem to have a thing for collecting anything even if it's only half of a set." he answered to Hanna's thought.

Though one could question what kind of 'collecting' they were doing.

Notches on a bedpost!

.....Yikes.

"Quite the happy individuals..." Those words in particular struck Hanna as curious, and she couldn't help but repeat them softly to herself, gazing down thoughtfully into her glass. "At the very least... these people really do seem to take genuine pride in their pleasure seeking... It's a stark contrast from the 'motherland' we're out of, huh..."

It really was true; Koshka society had its own agenda with things like sex, drugs, and excess-- but those activities were always handled so discretely, almost viewed as shameful in public. Here, though... the Kanus seemed to embrace it with open arms. The whole lot of them seemed to have a collective 'live fast, die hard' mentality.

In a strange way, it was almost enviable. She drowned a cough out with another deep drink that emptied her glass, and poured another. Alcohol poisoning? Clearly not a concern. She was either particularly experienced, mildly suicidal, or a mixture of the two.

"... You know, I still haven't heard how your day went, Good Sir," she added nonchalantly, finally taking her fixation off that liquor glass for a moment to glance in his direction. "Productive, I take it?..."

(Hopefully not that kind of productive, but uh...)
