Mariah came to the town, undetected. She found where Yuki and Bana were and waited patiently for a possible time for Bana to be alone.

Mariah grinned. 'Perfect chance.' Mariah knew that Bana never saw her face, only two of her bandits. She may be able to gain Bana's trust. And with the power to read minds, she might get just the information she needs. When Yuki was out of sight, Mariah appeared slowly in front of Bana. Her smile was kind, and there wasn't a weapon with her. Mariah acted a bit surprised to see her. "Oh, hello chld. What are you doing in such a depressing place like this?"

Mariah gasped a bit. "Oh you poor dear, you've met Irene. She hasn't tried to... Kill you yet has she? Irene is truly a devil, you must get away as soon as you can." The whole time she spoke sweetly and caringly.

"I'm sorry child, but it's the truth." Mariah bowed her head as if sympathetic. "Irene has done the same thing to me. We used to be best friends, her and I. And then, she decided she wanted my necklace. I wouldn't give it to her, so... She caused a fire. She's the reason all these people are dead. And when she had me backed to a corner, she knocked me out and stole my necklace.

The old man is a slave to her, fixing the necklace if it ever got broken or she will end his life. She can control her powers just fine without it. It's part of her game to lure people to her and 'pretend' to lose control of her powers just so she can 'accidentaly' kill them." Mariah sighed and even was able to summon a tear. "Oh, if I only had my necklace back. I would be able to prove her of the fraud she really is. But she's much too strong for me, and she would only kill me and lie about everything I said."

Mariah wiped off a few tears. "I tell you the truth. And the only way I can think of to prove it to you is that she couldn't possibly deny she was friends with me, Mariah. If you ever were to ask her she would agree that we were friends at one point. But the bandits, her innocence, it's all just a big lie. I don't want such a sweet, good little girl like you to fall into the clutches of that monster. No doubt you've had suspicions of her hiding something from you. And the other two, they must be prisoner in her game." Mariah summoned more tears, looking truly sad and sympathetic.

Mariah read every thought. 'Perfect! Now time for the kill.' Mariah still kept her sad expression. "Oh, poor child. If only I had my necklace back I could make things right." Mariah sighed. "But it's too dangerous to get it. Irene's power will surely find me, and kill me. If only I knew someone who could get it for me, someone who Irene would never suspect..."

"Oh, I wouldn't want you to get into that kind of danger anyway." Mariah reassured. "I just hope, that I can find some way before you and those other two unfourtunate people fall into her clutches. It might be because I have a soft spot for kids but..." Mariah's smile grew a bit wider. "I'm proud of you. I truly am. You must be a very talented girl to be able to last with her this long. There's always a place in my heart for you." Mariah looked aside, a bit troubled. Then spoke as if to herself. "Broken or not that necklace could save lives if I only had it... Maybe I could sneak and get it while she's asleep? No, that would never work. I'm not at all sneaky, I need someone who knows how to steal. Someone quiet and unexpected..."

Mariah gave an expression of shock. "Oh, I just feel terrible for putting you in such danger... Here." Mariah put a hand behind her back and unlached two things from a belt. One was something of a charm, and another was an identical necklace. "This charm is precious to me, it was given by a friend of mine before he died. I want you to have it. It should give you good luck." Mariah held out the charm, a yin-yang sign with the circles as small black and white crystals. Mariah then held out the necklace identical to Irene's.

"Make sure you don't wear this, it's a decoy necklace that just might save you time after you get the necklace. It will stop her from being able to use her powers as she wears it." Mariah kneeled down, one thing in each hand. She had a kind and sincere smile. "Please take them, I don't want you to think that you're alone. Like I said, I'm proud of you. You're doing such a good and brave thing for me."
