Dahlia sat on the soft sand. She smiled absentmindedly, enjoying the sea breeze and the smell of the salty water.
"What are you planning on doing next?" she asked after a few minutes of silence.

Alex stared out at the sea, and looked at Dahlia, and said, "What do you mean...?"

"This whole... seeking out whatever it is you guys are all trying to do. I want to help," Dahlia said. She bit her lip and hope she had not sounded too childish.
Master had warned her to keep her head on straight and to think realistically. She would always get too hopefully and carried away on things.
"You know... to be truthful, I left Hima after living there for 22 years. I'd never been traveling without Master and I just decided to go and help stop the horrible things that have been going on. I have no idea what to do... and I've just been wandering around the past few days, trying to figure out what it is I should do.."

"I understand..." Alex said, with a smile, "If it were totally up to me, I'd ask you to come... either way..." Alex put a hand on Dahlia's shoulder, and smiled again, "I'd like you to join us... It's never easy to find out where to start if you're on your own... it's always good to have someone at your side that you can trust..."

Dahlia nodded in agreement. "And the worst part of this is... since I've left... I can't go back to Hima."
Dahlia grumbled and frowned, but put that thought aside and smiled at Alex. "I'd be estatic if you'd let me join you guys."

Dahlia bit her lip and thought for a moment. Alex seemed to be a rather trustworthy boy...
"Well, the thing is, when I left Hima... I didn't leave by myself. I kind of... stole some thing to take with me," Dahlia answered evasively.

"Ah... um," Dahlia faltered. "If I tell you, would you promise not to tell the others until I think it's okay? It's not that I feel they are bad people... I just haven't had time to gauge how their reactions might possibly be."

"Okay... I'll show you," Dahlia said, standing up. She brushed off the sand that had found the way into the cracks of her clothes. "Follow me?"
She walked and headed into the forest.

Dahlia continued walking with Alex following her, and after a few minutes she stopped.
"I think this is far enough," she mumbled to herself. She patted her chest and dug out from underneath her shirt a small whistle that she wore as a necklace.
She gently blew into it, and no sound came out. However, it seemed to do the trick and the tree behind her rustled violently.
"Don't move okay Alex?"

Dahlia turned and looked up at the tree. She was correct in her assumptions, and Micca was currently trying to hide in the green leaves.
"It's okay Micca, come on down," she called out, waving to the gold dragon with her arms. Hesitant, the dragon looked suspiciously at Alex before climbing down the tree and settling next to her.
"Okay, Micca, this is Alex," started Dahlia, as she rubbed the dragon between its eyes. The massive beast lowered its head slightly and seemed to be content.
"So... Alex, this is the reason I can't go back to Hima," she tilted her head slightly and gave him a sad smile. "Master thought it would be a good idea, but we made it seem as though I got the dragon out myself so he wouldn't have a hard time back at the town."
