"Tired." Jess finished her hair and laid down in her bed. "Mmmm...soft..." She grabbed a pillow and held it to her body tightly. "I'm so sore..."

Peter took a seat next to Jess carefully. "I can bring your food up for you, if you want." It was a bit too late to make up for his ignoring Jess earlier, but he was trying.

Peter consented, and surprised himself by kissing Jess as he hadn't done for sometime. "Gwen has your ears," he informed her. "I checked."

"Oh yeah?" Jess kissed him back for a few moments, forgetting for a little while that she was still tired and in pain. "Aiden has your...well..." She winked, giving him a very Jess grin.

Jess rolled her eyes, pulling him close again. She was glad that she no longer had to worry about damaging her stomach, and took full advantage of it by rolling onto her back and pulling Peter on top of her. "We have a half hour?"

"Maybe more." Peter grinned, resting on his elbows. He kissed Jess softly before looking thoughtful. "Have you heard anything about school reopening?"

Jess shook her head, not really caring about this topic of conversation. "Not yet, but then again I've been rather preoccupied with...other things..." She smiled, reaching up and brushing the hair from his face.

Gwen squealed loudly, and Peter glanced at the door affectionately. "Right." He smiled at Jess. "Right, I know. But I've been hearing a lot about it at the Ministry. More after McGonagall...you know."

"Yeah..." Jess had a sudden itch to go back downstairs and be with the babies, but she wanted to be alone with Peter just as much. "The poor old bat." It was the closest she could get to sympathy, oh well. "Longbottom has been missing for a few days, or so I heard in the hospital." She started tracing circles on his shoulder absentmindedly, trying to use the distraction to disregard the problems of the outside world.

"I did hear something about that..." Peter looked troubled. "I hope everyone that we know is alright--most people going missing wouldn't attract much attention--and it's not as though I've been reading the paper much."

"I'm sure they're fine." Jess couldn't really concentrate on the welfare of her friends or teachers anymore. "But Peter, we need to be careful. I'm sure that we really have nothing to worry about, but I am technically related to the Malfoys." She frowned, holding onto him a little more tightly. "My family always got along with them, but we weren't quite as extreme. I'm just scared that Draco won't think twice to wipe out his friends and relatives that don't follow him." She had never thought of the new Dark Lord as Draconis, having known him since she was a young girl. He had even been at her fifth birthday party.
