"Now now..." But Michael really couldn't think of a retort. It was true, even the same dominating glint in Jess's eyes were apparent in Gwen's. Michael had the distinct feeling that she was going to grow up to be just like her mother: gorgeous but dangerous.

"She needs her parents." Aiden began whining, and Evelyn started rocking him without taking her eyes off Gwen. "We don't want history repeating itself, after all."

"I know..." Michael knew better than to stop looking at Gwen and rocked her as well. "I don't need to become a great grandfather by the time I'm 65..." He sighed. "Luckily, I don't think that will be such a problem this time around."

"Aiden can look after her," Evelyn suggested, smiling slightly. Aiden was beginning to drift off, but continued to stare at Michael, almost accusingly. "He's very no nonsense. Even more than Peter, and he hardly ever cried."

Michael nodded in agreement, finally hearing the bedroom door open from down the hall. "Ah. They must be hungry."

Peter couldn't help but sigh when Jess got up. His face fell even more when she opened the door. So there really wasn't much chance of...well, anything. "You're horrible," he grumbled, sitting up.

"I try, sweetheart, I try." To be perfectly honest, Jess was perfectly fine with holding out on him until she could find a way to get her looks back. She was not about to just let herself be seen in the porcine way that she was, no matter how much Peter protested. For now, though, it was just fun teasing him that way she used to. Standing by the door, she waited for Peter to get up and gave him one last heated kiss before exiting the bedroom.

Evelyn set Aiden down and looked up at Michael, hoping that her stern expression would contradict any blushing, however faint. She was not, and had never been, the type of woman to blush. "Let Gwen get some sleep, won't you? Help me with dinner."

Michael sighed, quite liking having a baby around to hold. "Alright then." It didn't really work. Gwen started whimpering the second she was let go, earning an almost stern glance from Aiden, if babies were able to be stern.
"Gwen?" Jess opened the door to the nursery, hearing the small squeals from inside. "Is she all fussed?" She came to the side of the crib, reaching down into it and gently stroking the little girl's cheek. "Come now, you can't be selfish all the time. Get some rest." She watched her daughter, locking eyes with her until she quieted and finally drifted off. "There...now that's better." She looked up at her father-in-law, a confused expression on his face. "What?"

Evelyn gave Jess one of her rarer smiles, though it was brief. "We thought you might be hungry. Would you be alright with dinner now, or would you like to wait?" she asked briskly.

"I'm...I'm alright. I'm sure Peter is probably hungry though, right?" Jess did her best to make sure that her stomach didn't start growling. After all, she wouldn't lose wait if she kept eating food.

Evelyn nodded; it was perfectly understandable. "Alright. Let me know if you'd like something later on, won't you?" Without waiting for a response, she disappeared down the stairs and into the kitchen.

Jess nodded, watching as her in-laws took off for the kitchen. "Peter, are you going to get something to eat? I think I need to feed the children soon anyway..." She could tell that even in their sleep they were beginning to squirm the same way their father did when he woke up shouting "turkey leg".

Peter nodded, glancing at the twins. They looked asleep, but Peter had already learned not to question Jess's hunches. He usually felt stupid for doing so. "Yeah, I think I will. Are you sure you don't need anything?"

"I'm fine, really." Jess watched as Aiden wiggled his arms a little. He woudl probably be the first one to start rolling over. Gwen was more sedated, but her breathing was still too quick for her to be in a deep sleep.
