(omg I’ve been snowballed XD )

Sammuel had been affectivly distracted by the hand, hitting the floor then from the next blow with a grunt. But instinct saved him for as soon as he hit the floor he was rolling out of the way to avoid the next attack. And before he knew it Ava was in the room with him and Ras, “Well now looks like the real party has started.” He said more to himself, and despite his playful banter, deep down he was a little worried for Ras and Ava more so than himself. Granted they were strong altered women but this was Sam, he was fond of the two already, and that instantly made him defensive of them. This wasn’t their fight, it was his, and he didn’t want them to get caught up in it. He was getting noble in his old age-at least he’d heard someone tell him that once.

From the looks of things though they were already involved and the best thing he could do was roll with the punches. Literally. The Shadow remained on the defensive side for now, since he wasn’t used to fighting without his powers that much. But he was on his feet again down low in a crouch as Ava fought the angelic looking altered. Abigails blade was coming for him though and he barely avoided it. Coming away with a shallow cut running vertically up his arm. Sam made sure to stay out of the weapons range then, his devious mind whirling to cook up a plan of action. Out of the corner of his eye though he noticed Ava with..bombs? Even without his heightened senses the smell told him they weren’t the norm. exploding bombs.

Which was a slight relief; he doubted anyway that she’d go and blow them all up. Just before they went off he blindfolded himself, even though he could see perfectly without it now that his abilities were null and void. Sam was just used to wearing it and it prevented him from being blinded so much by the bright flash of light. It gave him a slight advantage. As it did someone else it seemed as he heard the slight whoosh of air and before he knew it he was seeing Abigail hit with arrows. Inwardly he cringed, Looks like everyone is having fun at this party but me. He thought while shaking his head. The unfamiliar voice made him wonder though, but it didn’t divert his attention away from the enemy-unlike Abbi who seemed more focused on the two females than him.

Sam took this as an opportune moment to launch his half-baked scheme. He crept along the ground, close to the wall, and shot his hand out wrapping it in a vice like grip around the enemy altereds ankle. Giving a swift yank he hoped to catch her off guard and if she had gone down like he had wanted he would have her pinned swiftly with her own weapon forced from her hands pressed hard against her neck.

Really, civilized rebels?

I’m one of those bad things…

Abigail didn’t move from her position but she inclined her head lightly in agreement. Usually Abigail was out for blood, but she wasn’t an idiot. If she could get Sam and get out, she would be fit for another battle, one where she could go all out. In a low quiet voice that revealed nothing Abigail said almost mockingly, “Of course. If you hand me Sam, I’ll leave Retribution without causing more damage.”

Abigail was of course aware at all times where her target was, but she wasn’t by any means a god. His hand tightened around her ankle and a powerful yank sent her sprawling onto the floor, all the air rushing out of her lungs with a whoosh. Abigail kept a cool head though and her staff remained firmly in her hands. The second she felt Sam’s hand release her ankle she shoved her staff roughly up with enough force to propel the Altered across the room had he been standing. Instead the blow would raise him to a near standing position. It would be impossible to dodge if he was falling towards her. After all, even if he had the power of levitation or teleportation, which would be the only two ways to escape Abigail’s defensive attack, they wouldn’t work anyways.

In a swift move Abigail got back up to her feet, her staff whipping out around Sam’s form. If he was still breathless from her attack then it would be easy to pull him next to her and pin him between her body and the sharp blade of her staff. If not, well, Abigail would continue the blow to clear the area.

…that happen to good people.

[[Yes, it’s still on, and for future reference it’s probably going to be on for a fight]]

Within the fury of motion that had just occured before her, Ras had had little time to react. With the advent of Ava, and strange girl, she had been hesitant to make a move. In part to the fact, it would be foolish to throw a knife or attack in this mess, inpart to her new found inadequacies. With her own power dulled by Abigal's, she was all but average. This left her perhaps on Abigal's level-- she knew hand to hand combat, remained proficient with her knives, and could retain her natural flexibility and strength. Still. Ras had never fought without her above average abilities, however boring they were in comparison with other altered. At last, with an opening in the action, Ras would sieze it.

Although back from the action, Ras had been keeping as close behind Abigal as was safe. Skirting the room in a cat-like fashion, she would presently drop and place her off to Abigal's side. Crouched low and close as she was, and with the brief moment in which this takes place, Abigal may or may not note our little miss' presence. As Abigal stood, and if she had not been seen, Ras would make two distinct slashing motions. One would aim for Abby's hamstring, the other for her mid-section. Whether or not these attacks had been succsessful, Ras would fall back and position herself between Sam in his advesary.

"You think we will accept that? You should know your, opposition better." Ras would say this vehemence, he expression one of abject fury and determination. "Leave this place now, and I will ensure you will leave with no further harm. Otherwise, you can be positive one of these will be quite obliged to find your dispassionate heart." At the word these, she would blithely twirl one of her knives.

In the meantime, Indigo was inching closer and closer to Retribution, presumabely now that he was deep within the ruins of the city. With his eyes darting about every which way, he at last slowed his steady run until at least he remained motionless. Peering about with the interest of a tourist, he noted from movement to his left. Creeping steadily closer, he happened upon a ragged altered boy hiding amongst some trash bins.

"Who are you?" He inquired sharply, and the boy scrutinized him sternly.
"That's not for you to know. I could ask the same thing, but I'm more interested in what your doing here."
At this Indigo cast a nervous glance over his shoulder, and ducked down amongst the trash bins with him. "I'm on the run from the Institute... I've just escaped, and I'm searching for the rumored rebel base, Retribution. Do you know of it? Or are you altered?" His voice was quick, hurried, and above all serious. His story was believable, particularly to the boy, I young foarger of Retribution.
"I am." He puffed up importantly. "Aaand. I know where it is, and I can show you where if you can prove your not lying." In his current position the stranger felt as if he had a certain amount of authority over the elder boy. Without surprise, he felt at ease to take advantage of it. His smug facial expression, was enough to make Indigo want to crackcrack snap the boy's neck. Instead he would turn to see if Parris had followed him, and raise his eyebrows questioningly.

"Wow." Bailey said, checking the monitor by the bed and his status. "You seem to be okay now." She headed back over to the bed and looked down at the kid, studying his features and making sure he looked okay. "So you really don't know what is wrong? Why you cough up blood?"
She didn't wait for a response and quickly added something else. "Nevermind, we should get you settled into a room for the night. I'll help you pick one out and show you around, if you'd like."

Katerina was slightly suprised at Ras and Sam's sudden action. At least it made my job a little easier..... Katerina adjusted her aim again, so it was back at Abigal's Solar Plexus. I concur. We will not hand Sam over, under any circumstances. Katerina paused for a few seconds, waiting for a reaction. Not getting one right away, she started talking again. What I find curious, is that you are definitly an Altered, yet you are hunting your own kind. Why? Even though Katerina's telepathy was disabled, she knew enough about the way an intelligent mind worked to know what people were most probably thinking. From what Katerina could tell, Abigal had the makings of a scarred psyche. If she has some sort of mental scarring, I could work with that.....

Trent had a puzzled looked as Bailey changed the subject. But that now was the least of his corncerns... Right now he wanted some answers, he either was going to fake some emotions or pull some strings to get them. "So", he said trying to follow the same rythem of the conversation. " Bailey is it? Ah don't don't understand you haven't know me for dat long why help me out? How do y'all know it won't backfire?" He sounding demanding, to be honest he wasn't trying to be. It just came out that way. He then sat there quietly trying to think of what else he could ask that was written all over his mind, like a map he hadn't any directions so in other words there were still alot of other things he needed to know.

Parris appeared at Indigo's side, barely managing to suppress his reaction to being so close to the garbage and the Rebel boy. "I don't know if we got away from them or not... we might still be in trouble..."

Parris glanced over his shoulder, looking for Strohm and the woman. Everything hinged on right now. If they didn't show up, there was a strong chance that this boy wouldn't buy their story, just out of spite for the older boys. Parris cringed.

"I'm not sure if this is a blessing or not... Indigo..."

((Blah. Short. Need the others))
PostPosted: Mon Oct 19, 2009 10:01 pm

Now several blocks behind the other two, Strohm was hiding in the shadow of a broken down truck, watching them through the detached scope of his longer-ranged rifle. He made sure to keep everything he had out of the light to avoid reflecting it, even going so far as to be under the truck and behind the tire. He trusted Kimmy would do well to keep out of sight, though he kept aware of his own surroundings should she, or anyone else, chose to act or approach him. Strohm wasn't ready to shoot just yet.

If he shot now, it could seem too convenient. There were far more pros if he waited awhile. He might be able figure out the capabilities of the one the found, and it give the others a chance to try to find ways to gain trust outside fighting. They're was few ways to prove one wasn't Institute. Wouldn't be ironic if the one the just met was another agent trying the same strategy? Anyways, another few pros of waiting was that they were expecting him, he'd have to wait 'til they seemed to have a disadvantage to even it out, and it'd give them a chance to warm-up their people/quasi-people skills.

((Is the other other still around?))

Bailey narrowed her eyes at the boy. She was exhausted from the previous day's adventure and had been through enough, she was ready to go to bed. So, not to be mean or sound harsh, but she didn't have the time to explain everything that night and help Trent. "I help every Altered out to the best of my abilities. You just have to trust me, let's find you a room." She ended up sounding harsh, but she was sleep deprived.

Vlase was wandering the halls again when he stumbled upon the infirmary where Bailey was talking to the injured boy from before. He paused for a moment, trying to decide on what the best course of action was here. And he decided on talking to the woman.

"Bailey." Vlase walked into the room he had hear her at and bowed slightly out of military habit, "There's an issue... An Institute woman is in the base. She seems to be able to turn off our powers or something to that effect." He maintained rigid posture, rattling off what he knew or at least had on good theory, "It seems that she is after Sam... or the other woman we met upon the arrival here... Ras?" He shrugged stiffly before turning on his heel beginning to stalk away. If they wanted anything else, someone would stop him.

Seeing Vlase's face had caught her attention, and she watched him enter and his sudden politeness through her off guard. But once his words had formed together as whole ideas, Bailey realized what he was saying and nodded quickly. She turned to Trent and smiled slightly. "I'm sure you can find a room on your own. Once you are situated, come find me and I'll give you a tour. But as of now, it sounds like I have something to take care of."

She took a few steps closer to Vlase and lowered her voice. "Do you have any other information on what is going on? What woman?" As she spoke, she headed out of the infirmary, motioning for Vlase to follow her out. If there was in fact an Institute member who had discovered the base and their power was to drain other Altered's abilities, something would have to be done immediately. The person would not be allowed to leave alive. They couldn't risk letting the Institute know where Retribution was.

Indigo nodded, as a small scowl torqued his usual permagrin. "I agree, but this might be our only option." The boy looked suspicious as he said this, and point an accusatory finger at Parris.

"And just who is that?

"He's also an altered-- we escaped together. Do you really think, that just one of us could break out of the Institute? You need at least two, unless your really something special." Indigo's tone was condescending, as if it were trying to infer someone like the boy could never break out. "Like my sister. She managed to escape a long time ago, and I want to find her. Her name is Ras... have you heard of her?" Even though he furrowed his eyebrows with concern, and filled his voice with urgency, Indigo felt nothing of the sort. In fact, there was bilge rising in the back of this throat, at the mere thought of Ras-- that sorry b***h. Even so, his act seemed to allay the boy's suspicions, if only slightly.

"I havn't," he continued on in his pompous manner. "You could be making her up... but I guess I can trust you for now." At this point in his speech, he once more rounded upon Parris. "What about you?! How can you prove you are who he says you are?"

God. Indigo couldn't stand him. Hopefully Strohm would miss and accidentally take the sucker out.

"I didn't hang around." Vlase spoke simply without any regret in his voice. He never regretted his actions that kept him alive. The others could risk themselves for 'selfless' reasons. "I didn't catch her name or anything more than what I already told you, except that there are already several of your people there to protect the target."

"I can direct you to them, but I will not engage." Vlase spoke quietly, retreating back into his shell rapidly. He was still walking in rigid military fashion and there was a crispness to his voice, but his speech was fading back to bitterness and snippy phrases. He tugged slightly at his gloves unconsciously and rested his hand on the stock of his pistol.

~~~
Parris blinked once. He wasn't used to having people doubt what they were told about him, so this was a new one. Think fast, think fast... I don't have a family story like Indigo... Then Parris hit upon something fascinating, a sickening smile growing behind the scared expression he was showing the boy.
"I don't have a family like Indigo, so there's no one to really agree or disagree with me," He looked away like he was embarrassed, "But please, you have to trust me, I got so tired of them using my powers to hurt the captured Altered... I had to escape..." Parris reached over and touched a small, dying plant that was trying to grow through the cracks in the cement around them. A pale aura appeared around his hand and the plant began to glow as well. When he pulled his hand away, the plant had been replaced with a healthy sprout. "I can do that to people too... that's what they had me do." His eyes misted slightly and Parris looked a lot like he could bust into tears at any moment.
"You believe me, right?" Mentally, Parris was cracking up. He was now happy that he had spent time working on his bullshit routine. If the kid didn't believe him, Parris might have some trouble... but for some reason, people believed the guy that healed plants. Such strange people.
Trent shrugged his shoulders and decided that to give things a rest. For tonight atleest. But that wouldn't stop him from trying again tomorow or the day after, or atleest one day he'd know. Within the next second Trent hopped to his feet. However he was still wired to an IV. He snickerd sliely and then slithered off to follow Bailey. "If ya insist." He said. When he heard the comment of finding his room he couldn't help sigh. Slowly but surely he slitherd off. He then stopped behind the door and peeped. Even though he was ease-dropping he was still well hidden. "A women eh? ah wonder what they're talking about, whatever it is. Something doesn't smell right." He said in a low voice. Whatever it was he was ready for it. Heck he was born ready.
.
His plan, as half-baked as it was worked! Well, only half. Guess that’s why they call it half-baked; because as soon as he had her on the floor before he could pin her, her staff jabbed up into him. He skidded back a ways with a ‘oof’, his hand over the already bruising mark. As The Shadow tried to recover another assault came his way and before he knew it he was tipping his head up and away to get rid of the pressure of the blade against his neck. “Heh…just can’t keep your hands off me either eh Abigail..?” He grunted, trying to regain his lost breath . The position he was in was a rather bad one. Especially seeing out of the corner of his eye Ras planning to attack. And then the other girl with Ava pointing the arrow at him; to say the least it was very uncomfortable.
“You know…As much as I like the attention, I’m afraid you’re not my type, love.” Sammuel murmured and his same old smirk returned as he let his head fall forward slightly against the blade. It hung there for a moment, before he snapped his head back crashing it in the angelic-looking altereds’ face. Blood seeped from the cut that he now had on his neck but it was a small price to pay as he now slipped away from her. “Alright ladies she’s all yours!” He called once a safer distance away-closer to the door actually. But Sam wouldn’t abandon them-he just needed time to recover.
And he doubted even if he got far enough away to morph if he came in close for an attack he’d just wind up normal; since he highly doubted she’d ‘turn off’ her abilities right now.
